Azury Ariella's Solo Guide (Up to Level 35)

EDIT: NEW GUIDE FOR BETTER EFFICIENCY POST SP-CHANGE PATCH:
http://ffxiv.zam.com/forum.html?forum=152&mid=1292892093237488996&page=1

Note: This guide is about efficient ranking up (I tried almost every mob and listed the best), and therefore some viable camps may be left out.
Also this guide can be used by -all- jobs

IF YOU HAVE ANY ALTERNATIVE CAMPS PLEASE POST THEM AND I WILL UPDATE THE GUIDE AND CREDIT YOU

General Tips for ALL Levels:

DO LEVES!!!!! I cannot stress this enough. Leves with gaurdian's aspect are the best way to get quick SP.

Save certain high-drop items and use it to level crafts to 10. This will help keep your physical level up with your rank level. If you aren't in a rush, try to keep your physical level 5 levels above your rank at all times. This will make fights much easier and reduce death. Its worth targeting mobs for shards + items at the start of the game to help boost your physical level up a bit. Consider sheep near the lighthouse east of limsa lominsa for sheepskins and wind shards (allowing you to take leather to 10 easily), or mobs that drop ores near ul'dah, or funguars that drop logs in Gridania.

DO BEHEST! Behest is probably your best alternative to leves for SP. To join behest, talk to a battlewarden which appears at every camp on the hour every hour.

You can solo a behest if you are approximately 5 levels higher than the camp where you are partaking in the behest is. For example, if you are at a camp that has leves recommended for level 20, you can safely solo behest at level 25. You will get pretty decent sp 8 to 10 levels above the camp level when soloing.

If you cannot solo a behest, shout and try to team up with other people. Make sure you have someone label the mobs before you start fighting (do this through the emotions menu), and tell your party what order to fight the group in.

Rank 1 - 8

All Areas: Start off by fighting mobs right outside your city. Do leves every chance you get, and help other people out with theirs. Leves will give you -VERY- good SP. Also do behests at the first camp every chance you get.
Remember to craft a bit in order to boost your physical level above your rank.

Gridania - Camp Brentbranch
To start off, target star marmots and do leves.
At around level 4 or 5, target the funguars and any other mobs you find around Brentbranch.
GO EAST. There are -lots- of mobs there that usually aren't camped. You can even go along the path to the north east section of the forest for lots of mobs, or you can go south along the path, all the way to thanalan fighting star marmots, and then back.

Ul'dah - Camp Black Brush
Do leves, behest, and fight the mobs around camp black brush

Limsa Lominsa - Camp Bearded Rock

Do Leves, behest, and fight the mobs around camp bearded rock.
At level 5, look on the map south east of camp bearded rock (east of limsa lominsa). You will see a bay with a lighthouse on the east and west side. Head to the lighthouse on the western side of the bay. Here there are LOTS of sheep. These are easy to take out, give good sp and exp, and give amazing drops (wind shards, sheep skins, etc). They will get you to rank 8, but you can stay till 10 easily.

Rank 8 - 13

Gridania - Camp Emerald Moss
do behest IN GROUPS.
Focus on fighting (solo) thistletail marmots. These will get you to level 13. There are LOTS of them in lots of different areas and caves, so explore. These will also get you lots of fire crystals, which are in high demand.
You can also fight the glowing beetle things, and moles, inside of caves.

Rank 11 - 14

Ul'dah Camp Drybone - contributed by seraphite syamine of Saronia
Moles and Bogies in caves surrounding the northern area of Drybone, near the Black Shroud. Find the caves yourself. Each cave supports one person, fastest claimer wins. Good luck.

Rank 13 - 17 or 18

Ul'dah Camp Drybone
do Behest IN GROUPS
Focus on fighting dodo's. They are scattered around the map so find a place where 2 or 3 spawn and have fun grinding on them for hours. You can also fight any other mobs you can handle in-between dodo spawns.

Limsa Lominsa - Camp Skull Valley
do Behest IN GROUPS
Focus on dodos, throw in puks if you see them and can handle them. If you go to the airship docks near the camp, there are a lot of dodo's and also bee swarms that you can fight while waiting for respawns.

Limsa Lominsa - (37, 25) - Contributed by Beregren (on ZAM)
Fight puks, wild ewe, and dodos.
Camp can only support two people
At level 16 throw in yellow aldgoat nannys if you can handle them (if not wait a few ranks)

Rank 15 - 20

Limsa Lominsa - Camp Bloodshore
Head west through the cave to an enclosed area with lot of moles. Take out the moles. When they do their special move -run-. You will learn how far you need to run to avoid it. These are especially great for those with ranged attacks.

Gridania - 34-50 on map
Sultan Trumpets (moles) in a cave. Good from 15-18 (possibly earlier)
Thanks to: RustyMcDaggers

Gridania
Fight young opo-opos. There are multiple camps for these.
You can try south of camp brentbranch where there is one circle-area with about 7 of these.
Or you can go to camp emerald moss and explore. They tend to populate many of the passages, and there is a really good camp with about 10 of them in a group near the village.
These may be a bit difficult at 15, but are quite easy at 20. It depends on your job and your gear.

Gridania - Camp Tranquil

Fight thistletail marmots + fairy funguars + fullgourd funguars. If you're a meelee job i strongly suggest you level marauder a few levels for trunksplitter as it does quite a lot of damage.

Rank 20 - 25

Gridania - Camp Tranquil
Do behests

Fight opo-opo's, ladybugs, arbor squirrels, and most importntly roselets. Roselets will probably net you the fastest sp. You can throw in thistletail marmots and funguars too if you like.
THIS TAKES TIME, expect one level a day.

Consider partying. Post 20, solo is no longer efficient. Get in a party and fight some crabs for the best sp. Solo if you want to play alone, go afk a lot, or want to farm while exp'ing.

Coerthas - Camp Glory. Via Gridania

Fight squirrels, antelope, wolves (they are east along the path to the eastern village), Hyppocerfs (western path before the bridge). Whatever you can handle. This can take you past 25.
Thanks to: Epedemic Optikz of Mysidia

Rank 25 - 30

Coerthas - Camp Glory. Via Gridania

Fight saltsprey pterocs to the southwest of Camp glory (south of the area just before hippocerfs).

Fight hippocerfs when you are able to (depending on your job/abilities/phys level). 4 spawn in the area right before the bridge, and 1-2 spawn in each of the two small areas before that. They agro sight, at a fair distance. So watch out.

Nanawa Mines (North of Ul'dah)

There is an amazing puk (pteroc) camp just north east of the leve crystal. These pterocs are a few levels up from the ones in coerthas but also slightly more difficult.

Rank 30 - 35

At rank 30 you really should not be solo'ing anymore. It will be nearly impossible to get any more than 100sp per kill, and will therefore take 2-4 days to solo a level. Grouping at this point is -much- more viable.

Coerthas - Ishgard area

Fight antelope near ishgard

fight the pteroc southeast of ishgard (south of camp dragonwhatever). These can 1-shot some jobs with their weaponskill attack to be careful.

Fight hippocerfs to the west of ishgard (surrounding the castle directly west of the landbridge that goes to ishgard)

Other Options

You can try mobs in the various dungeons or around the 30 and 40 leve crystals, but to be honest most will probably be disappointing. If anyone has found a good camp outside of coerthas at this level, please let me know. You might want to try targeting mobs that you can solo incapacitate.

I wish you luck on your adventures <3

From Epedemic Optikz of Mysidia:

"Coerthas deserves a mention. If you're good, you can xp there at lvl 21 up until 30. Fight squirrels and antelope. Wouldn't recommend antelope until around 24 though. Switch to hippocerfs at 26-27. "

Note: while coerthas is great, weapon durability seems to drain fast on antelopes. Suggested to bring multiple weapons.

I love this camp. Squirrels are soloable a few levels earlier, and plenty of mobs for somebody to never be forced to touch an antelope until they're good and ready.

There's another camp in The Black Shroud around level 15 east of camp Tranquil. It's a small cave with a few Sultan's Trumpet (They're moles). Map coordinates are 34-50 for the cave entrance. Could probably hit it up earlier, and I stayed there until 18.

I'm used to a bit of a grind, however.

There's also a pretty sweet cave in The black shroud for levels 5 - 10. Coordinates for that entrance are 38 - 31. Moles and an occasional ghost is the target there.

Coerthas is great for a duo at level 20. Was duoing does for good SP tonight... Soloing is way worse SP per hour than a decent duo/trio... at least as a CON anyway

I'd like to throw in a little tip of my own. Whatever mobs may have given you difficulty at say Rank 15 on one class, might be easier the next time around since your Physical level is likely to be higher. For example, when the game first launched I was trying to kill Young Opo's (Forget XIV Name) at 15 CON. I was able to do this slowly and not efficiently. Now that I'm leveling THM, even at Rank 11 I could kill them with ease because of higher level CON spells, a higher physical level, and better overall equipment.

Thanks, Camp Brentbranch was fun then I started playing at Emerald moss and the fun playing this game dropped to zero. I leveled 9 jobs almost to 10 my main is Lev 13 and i still don't know how play this game.Since i stopped fighting blue mobs and I can't find the mob color chart anywhere(the forum was the only place i ever saw it.) I'll follow the guide to see if i can get to Lev 20.I hope i can do this with rank 1 thru 7 gear my Gil go to repair and I NPC or give my all inventory away for free to serious players before i log out every night just to have space when i play the next day.

Buried beneath the rubble of negativity your post serves as a beacon to those of use still trying to enjoy the game.

About the moles in the cave west of Bloodshore, I have had trouble here for 2 reasons. It is now overcamped when just a week ago it was a ghost town. Secondly, as a a Marauder it kills my flow when I have to move as I move my Steadfast status(parrying increase).

If you have any other places around Bloodshore I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks again for this post.

A little snippet:
At Drybone, if you travel southwest, there is a whole valley full of Dodo spawns. Follow the Zone wall to the South West and you will see a Dodo every 20 steps or so.

Once again I really like the guide. If you keep updating it I would think it's worthy of a sticky.

This is a great thread, which should be stickied, but has been pushed to (at this time) PAGE 6?! I can't believe it.
I would sugest, from my own experience, that you could take Ladybugs from R15-20, since this range is when the progression from difficulty goes from Yellow to Blue. Their Spoil does hurt a fair bit on the lower levels though...

Just to add: Sultan's Trumpets can also be found in a cave near Camp Horizon at 15-26.

Just beware because bogies, magicked bones, and will o wisps also sometimes spawn in the cave... not sure what controls their spawns.

Levels 13 - 17 Puks/Wild Ewe/Dodo at Eastern La Noscea (37, 25). This area can really only support 2 people at the most. If you come here and see 2 individuals grinding here, turn around and find another camp. Respawn time isn't small enough to handle 3, and even then, 2 people will be waiting for respawns so you'd just be wasting your time. Note: Puks TP ability takes about 4 seconds to charge. When you see them charging their abilty, circle to their sides or behind them to avoid the frontal attack. This also opens an opportunity to use a positioning attack (such as Blindside). Plains Footmen patrol around the lighthouse here. A maximum of two is up at any given time. They do aggro, so avoid them as best you can.

Levels 16 - ? Aldgoat Nanny at Eastern La Noscea (37, 25). Starting at 16, you can throw in Even Match Aldgoat Nannys in addition to the mobs above. Note: They hit hard and their TP skill charges very quickly. I was never able to avoid it and it led to close calls. You can start trying them at 16. Otherwise, wait until you gain another rank or two before fighting them again.

I was confused by this as well. The camp is actually on the very southern edge of Central La Norscea. The camp itself is where you'll repeatedly take a stroll to during LL's main storyline quest. There's plenty of sheep in the area and you'll see the lighthouse mentioned in the OP. There's a Goobbue in the camp as well which should be avoided.

I stepped away from the game after opening night for a few weeks and am just now coming back. Things seems MUCH better than at the launch, but I am still unable to find a good way to ask questions in game.

I've managed to stumble up to level 6 as a Conjurer and just now figured out that I have to go back to the Adventurer Guild to re-get the Leves after each reset. I see that I can do 8 at a time, but there are only 4 battlecraft + 1 tutorial one I can see at the Guild. The faction ones are empty( I assume until I get them up to 100? ).

Is the expectation that I should go to other towns (and other Adventure Guilds) and get Leves there to fill the 8 if I only want to level up combat classes (my intent is just to level up Conjur/Thaum) ?

Also, is there a Behest at Camp Bentbranch I can do at this level?

Apparently there is a limit to the number of stickies that can be at the top of a forum (3-4 max). Those stickies are currently held by the Computer thread, the Complaints thread, the Database/Wiki feedback thread and the Starter Info Thread. On the 4th post of Osarion's 'FFXIV Starter Info and Links Thread 2.0- Read Before Posting' thread ->Here there is a summary of relevant/good links, however that post is buried under a whole lot of preceding text.

This system, while preventing too much clutter at the top of the main thread does mean that a lot of good and helpful threads get buried very easily amonsts the multitudious other threads made daily. The best thing you can do is either bookmark the page or subscribe/follow a thread. Personally, I think it would be a good idea if a separate forum/subforum was made just for guides and help threads so they dont get lost under other general discussion and debate threads.

I believe it's a combination of:

* Game clock and timing
* Time of day (possibly?)
* The number of moles that you kill

They may also be there by the time you walk in...

I know that Mu Tai Cellers is decent but its high risk as even tho a conj can defeat the squirrels they still hit us for 180-200+

Fat Dodo South of Ceader in the LL fields is also great for 21-25 but its a bit slow its awesome in a duo.

I had decent luck Soloing The Jellie Casseopeas for 21-23 but It bottoms out at 24 and is very low skill rate for even with wands they die too fast.

You can level to 35 solo, you could do that in ffxi as well, but seriously: you're better off to start considering parting at 20+ if not earlier.

Talk about the pot calling kettle black.

Those camps still work in a party, but you just need to go there earlier!

as this guide does sound pretty useful i also find it as an archer myself that i just dnt get SkillPoint from crabs or ants like last night i was killing crabs at cassopeia hollow an i wasnt receiving more then 70sp from those crabs but i kill a jelly fish from there an get like 200, anything that may seem like tank like mobs i just cant get the SP from them i think my character is broken XD but yeah id just like to say that it may also depend on the mob ur fighting to get the most SP outta ur fights. QQ can someone private message me if ur an archer an try to help me out on what i may be doing wrong TY

as an archer target jobs that have ranged attacks like opo-opo's and go a few levels earlier than i mention in the guide. These will give you high SP, and the mobs will use lots of ranged attacks.
Also fight mobs and let them run back to heal till you get 500 sp, then kill (this is kind of an exploit though)

Another good spot for solo leveling past Rank 20 in Gridania is the area around the lake east of Camp Tranquil.
You should encounter a few Roselet right after the walkway, but then it will be 90% Saltspray Pterocs. They rank yellow-orange for my Archer 20 so I suppose you could do some good leveling with any class between 20-25.
Very very few people there as well (at least on Wutai)

22-24 Cassiopeia hollow. Kills cassiopeias Sea Puks and Giant Bats in the eastern caves. They will con green and high blue. there are plenty of mobs that don't aggro with the occasional aggro fish. Easy exp and high skill points for me.
