in future expansions?

That idea is one of the things I liked most about XI, and even the FF tactics games. Since there are no traditionally named classes, could there be requirements like 'level both gladiator and conjurer to 30 to unlock paladin' or something similar? I find it hard to believe that SE wouldn't try to take advantage of a system like that. It's one of the things that makes final fantasy unique.

I would bet in future expansions. But I would also think it's a year+ away.

I have no doubt that there will be more classes.

The guilds already exist in the cities and according to the data miners a number of other classes already exist but have not been activated.

Then of course there will be expansions etc that will always provide more classes.

Well it's obvious they're going to add a great deal of classes, but I'm hoping for 'advanced classes' that require leveling other ones to unlock them.

Leveling CON and GLD, you can make a PLD.

That'd be really neat, actually!

I want to level a Botanist and a Pugilist to get a Puppetmaster! Or, hmm...

you can kinda already do adv. jobs with the current system. go mrd + tha to get a drk-like class. glad + conj for a pld. mrd + lnc for a really heavy DD, or pug + conj for a holy monk deal or something.

my bet is theyll add an "arcanist" class at some point (theres a guild in LL by that name) as well as a fencer class (or some kind of sword-offense type class, since gladiators or more of a sword-tanky type).

Pretty sure that one is going to be Conjurer and Fencer - Someone found Fencer skills in the data already.

In addition to the ability to make "custom" jobs using skills from multiple classes, I see a lot of potential for them to introduce special weapons for classes that allow them access to special abilities to further increase their character, yet still be able to change back through a weapon choice.

For example, perhaps you level MRD to 50 using 2 handed Axe. At level 50 perhaps you start finding special MRD only Great Swords that give you DRK like abilities as you level with it? Then you can throw back on the old Axe and be MRD with more tank like DD focus, versus DRK with more DD but less survivability whenever you want.

They already have abilities in game that require specific weapons so that they can only be used by a certain class, like Speed Surge. So why not have a ability, like Summon Wyvern, that ties to a specific type of lance, or has to be earned via SP gained with a specific lance then requires Polearm, etc.
