Okay so before I get to my little poll, I'd just like to say that I totally prefer to play with sound, but walking into the crafting wards I need to mute or turn my volume way down. All the PSHHEW! CLANK! CLANK! CLANK! PSHHEW! PSHHEW! GRRRRG GRRRRG GRRRG! PSIIIIING! WRRR WRRR WRRR! TONK! TONK! TONK! noises make me absolutely 100% crazytown.

Do you craft with sound?
Yes, I love the busy sounds of everyone around me.:22 (25.6%)
Yes, but I try to craft away from others.:33 (38.4%)
No, it's too noisy.:17 (19.8%)
I've never really noticed.:5 (5.8%)
It doesn't bother me.:9 (10.5%)
Total:86

Poll Removed: No more than one per thread, please!

Are you sure you aren't 100% crazytown before walking into the crafting wards?

That's debatable, but also not the subject of this poll!

Max volume dolby 7.1 surround sound crafting.

On a related note one time it started raining in game and I thought it was raining outside(because of the speakers) so I looked and there was nothing. Then I felt dumb.

Been a long time since those speakers tricked me like that.

While I voted no, I mute the volume by playing Pandora or mp3s while keeping the game sound on, but at a much lower volume.

The sound in this game is crappy (aside from the music). From the 20 hammers all hitting at the same time, to the Lalafell TINK TINK TINK TINK TINK running behind me, it's annoying. One of the 100 things that are annoying about this game.

It doesn't really bother me. In fact, I enjoy the hustle and bustle. :)

But I have this thing where I always have to listen to the original soundtrack and the sound effects. It doesn't matter if I've played a game for years - I just have this need to experience the game as it was originally intended. If the music or sound effects are that obtrusive to me, then it won't lead me to adjust the volume but rather stop playing it altogether.

I also find myself humming little harmonies to complement the music. Like, all the time.

Please tell me I'm not alone. >.>

I put no its too noisy, but honestly i mute it when crafting cause I watch TV on my laptop when crafting so the noise doesnt need to be on.

You can turn crafting sounds off?!

Is this in the outside game config? In game config I turn everything off and it doesn't stop.

Yeah I put that I like the sounds - which I do - but when I craft for a long time I generally mute and watch tv as well - not because I don't like the sounds - but because watching tv makes craft grinding much more appealing...

You are definitely not alone! Well, at least in the sense that if things sounded really annoying, it would be a huge deterrent to stop doing it, not to turn off the sound.

I personally absolutely love the sound of everyone working. The sounds are excellently done and it is really cool when people are succeeding all over the place. It is a pleasure to hear the :whishh: when a successful synth goes off. I would even go so far to say it makes me feel more concentrated and directed on my crafting.

You're not alone. I still play FFXI to the native sound track (and sound FX) after five years.

Really doesn't bother me at all..except:

The other day I was crafting just outside a camp when I heard behind me what sounded like the heavy breathing
of Darth Vadar.
The hair stood up on the back of my neck and the first thing I thought was,OH CRAP,I'm about to die.

I swing the camera around only to see a goldsmither grinding away on his mudstone wheel.

I swear SE ripped off Star Wars with that sound.

I tend to run out of the main area a little way. When I was first doing leves in Black Brush, i would run outside next to a giant aloe plant I would call my 'Crafting Cactus'. That far away most of the crafting noises would be fainter.

However, when I do settle down for a good ol Moko-Yarn-Cloth gridning session I will turn the volume down and listen to music and rely on the effect and chat menu to note progress

Oh god I can hear the sounds and know exactly what they are. I think I'm ready for a tour of Crazytown.
