I've steered as many of my friends away from purchasing as I could, but one didn't listen. He cancelled his account after two days. This game is in serious trouble.

Honestly, as impolitic as it is to express, with as bad as things have gotten, it's actually morbidly amusing watching this trainwreck in slo-mo. Basically, I think this whole experience will be remembered in the industry as "Everything they did, DO THE OPPOSITE!"

This aint new. I mean AoC was terrible launch and all the subsequent update screwed the game...

SE made a terrible launch, dont get me wrong there's no excuse to release such a terrible work but i'm sure they ll improve the game as time pass.

I could NEVER and I mean NEVER recommend this game to ANYONE, I would be too embarrassed. This game IS a laughing stock and I don't think matters will get much better. Sure, SE will string some of their customers along with false hopes and empty promises, or laugh and say we can't talk about it. That is complete BS. They need to come forth and make a statement to explain exactly what they are going to fix and give a timeframe of said fixes.

I just built my cousin a new computer that FFXIV would rock on. I had a buddy pass and almost offered it to him - then I stopped myself. WHAT WAS I THINKING! That was close. His opinion of me would be ruined forever >.<

Instead I pointed him to Dragon Age ^.^

What people dont realize is that no matter what happened when this game came out it was going to be slammed on.

How do you expect people to feel amazed and wonderfied about another MMO after theres already been 50+ on the market.

So sorry you werent handed a wonderland full of candy and **** for you to fall into a stupor over.

Game is exactly what most of us playing wanted it to be, which is why we are playing. Just because you dont like it doesnt make it a bad game.

Now kindly GTFO and go play Hello Kitty Online. I heard it has cute things in it for you to beat on.

Right because FFXIV is home to the hardest of the hardcore. In case you haven't noticed (those fanboi shades DO have a strong tint), the universal panning of this game has nothing to do with expecting a 100% streamlined game. We know there's not supposed to be a lot of content. We know there will be bugs and server hiccups.

What people are upset about is being handed a completely unfinished game. I don't mean unfinished in the coding sense, but clearly, from the UI to ridiculous game mechanics to the native PC controls to the maps to EVERYTHING, this is unfinished in the conceptual aspects. This game has potential, but knowing SE (played FFXI for years), it will likely never reach its full potential because SE refuses to meet a changing global gaming market.

There is absolutely no excuse for presenting customers with this half-baked mess and not apologizing wildly for it; not offering a concrete plan of attack in fixing it and trying to restore some of their customer trust and fidelity.

But then, you're right, I fail. I fail all the way to the bank because I knew better than to buy it. I knew better than to convince myself that I was having fun because the game isn't fun. It's not fun AT ALL. There is nothing in this game that remotely endorses, supports or even hints at fun.

I'll gladly fail by your metrics. And in 3 months when you've come out to yourself that you don't like this sad little game either, I'll see you in Hello Kitty. I'll be the kitty in leather bending you over in-game.

Kisses.

I've been hearing about the reviews for this game.

Newegg and ign to name a few...

I've played ffxi and honestly I loved it.

Getting quests, crafting, traveling from area to area, crafting, changing skills just to level up that class, crafting, the sometimes long amounts of time it took to get the right lvl players together just to acquire that really good xp...some days being surprised when I got a msg they were looking for my type of character, it goes on and on.

So I'm asking, did square really mess this game up?

Or are most of the people reviewing this game, WOW people and other MMO guys who are expecting more of the same? This game takes time to get good and it's rewarding when you invest that into it.

Please someone who can identify with above experiences let me know.

lmao your still ignoring the main issue.

Who gives a rotting roadkill oppossum's @$$ if you dont find the game fun?

WE DO~!

has nothing to do with being a fanboy of anything. I think SE has crap customer service as well. They have acctually been getting better, albiet extremly slowly however.

What would apologizing to you do anyway? would that magically make you understand how to play somthing harder than Ball in the Cup?

Oh wait, i must be too hardcore and fanboyish to think ball in the cup is an easy game. It takes years of practice to perfect it.

Get over yourself dude. Just because someone doesnt aggree with you doesnt mean they are a fanboy or elitist. It just means they are different.

@brushy If that little schoolboy hissy fit wins arguments then i feel sad for world politics in the years to come.

I like how the fanbois say things like, "if ffxiv is too hard for you leave" or "if you dont like the game it must be too hard for you"... Hello fanbois you are the only ones that think this PoS is hard. This is probably the EASIEST mmo on the market atm. I havent played maple story but I would bet its more of a challenge than this slobberfest... The depth of the challenge in this games combat mechanic consists of spamming #1, with an occasional #2 and maybe a #3...The argument of "the game must be too hard for you if you dont like it" just makes you look like someone whos gaming experience consist of "minesweeper' and "slingo".

In this thread: People mistakenly label FFXIV as hard due to its unnecessary timesinks created by poor UI, lag, MENUMENUMENUS, etc. Quite honestly, after grinding dodos and rats for 20+ levels, this is a very simple game compared to other MMORPGs currently on the market.

This game is downright BASIC compared to other MMO's.

Every thought mabey i bring up old material for a reason? You probably dont do much thinking at all.

Anyway, im starting to get off topic so im gonna leave it at this. If you hate the game and dont wanna play it then why are you wasting your time talking on a forum for people who are acctually wanting to play the game?

This forum is for people who have questions about the game and for discussing ways to make it better. It isnt here for people to come cry about how they suck or dont have fun.

If you dont understand that then i feel a bit sorry for you and can only wish that your life get better.

The people who don't like the game clearly outnumber the number of people who do, so really, by simple majority, this is the forum where we will mostly talk about how awful the game currently is. Maybe you can find some easier, less hardcore forum to talk about how to play Chocobo Hot and Cold with your mining pick.

lol what a stupid argument...

First of all, I agree - this game should have matured in the oven for few more months so Square Enix could have gotten some of the major issues fixed.

Secondly... why, if someone likes FFXIV it suddenly makes them fanbois or any other things that you mentioned in your posts?

I quite like the game and yes I find it fun.

At first I was a bit out of how to do thing but surprisingly I HAVE GOTTEN USED TO IT.

There are lots of things still being implemented - at the start we were supposed to download 6 GB patch for the game which was postponed by SE because they were still working on it.

HELLO REVIEWERS, this game obviously isn't even ready yet... and HELLO SQUARE ENIX - what a stupid stupid thing to do to launch a game which was half done, shame on you!!!!

None of the MMORPG by the way have been perfect in the 1st few months... you can't compare a just launched game to something that has been running for years. If you don't like the change you can go back where you came from (YES I SAID IT, NOW TROLLS COME FORTH!!)

:)

This is a "FFXIV General Discussion Forum" not a "People who like FFXIV forum" most of us are big fans of the FF series, specially me I always stood by FFXI, but I'm greatly disappointed by the game, just accept the fact that up to this day most people don't like something that you like.
