I have an Elm Cane and an Elm Cane +2. With the Elm Cane my cures restore 228 HP, with the Elm Cane +2 it's 230 HP. Even though there doesn't appear to be a stat difference, there must be!

I believe people have reported seeing their actual stats when the gear is equipped increase, and speculation that it's 10% per star.

If this is the case SE should change it so these stats are reflected on the item instead of just stars.

I just checked in game, and yes, you get a bonus to your stats when you equip + gear. A +2 sheepskin harness boosted my def by 5, eva by 3, and m def by 4 (compared to a regular sheepskin harness). The sheepskin harness base stats are 42 def, 25 eva, and 34 m def, so assuming the + is a percent, it is not 10% per star. Closer to 6% per star (12% for a +2).

And yes, it would be nice if they made it easier to see the benefit.

it could jsut be rounding and it is 5% per star so

Def 42: +1 = 5% = 44.10 -> 45 (inc 3) +2 = 10% = 46.20 -> 47 (inc 5) +3 = 15% = 48.30 -> 49 (inc 7)
Eva 25: +1 = 5% = 26.25 -> 27 (inc 2) +2 = 10% = 27.50 -> 28 (inc 3) +3 = 15% = 28.75 -> 29 (inc 4)
MDf 34: +1 = 5% = 35.70 -> 36 (inc 2) +2 = 10% = 37.40 -> 38 (inc 4) +3 = 15% = 39.10 -> 40 (inc 6)

If there is anyone out there with a +1 and +3 sheepskin harness, the maths could be confirmed

see now this isthe infos i was lookin for =) go team! only problem now is, they dont make the increase in stats wortwhile enough to constitute the extra few hundred thousand the proprieter wants for the tunic. if the +5 def actually made me take more than lets say.. 1 less dmg a shot.. perhaps but, due to the RNG in gaems such as this im betting in a duel 2 simalarly equipped individuals cept one witha +1 tunic and the other w/ a regular would still come out as a draw or winner curtesy of the RNG. yea i know spelling errors ***** chill, this site lags my input for some reason and i aint about to spend 2 hours typing this =p

It depends on the gear if it's worth it. High level gear prices are too high anyways if you check out the materials needed. But that's of course the benefit of the crafters who invest alot of time to level their craft and provide that gear.
However within a few weeks prices will come down to a reasonable level as more people get their crafting up.
By then more +1, +2, +3 versions will be avaliable too for the players who want the best equip they can get.
Also getting HQs is alot easier than it's been in XI from my experience.

The HQ versions do make a difference. Just check out stats on gear of the next level and you'll notice the difference isn't that big either. And if it's really based on a fixed percentage the stats of higher level equipment will get a higher boost making them really superior.
And durability gets a noticable increase. I think the NQ Sheepskin Harness has around 33000 durability while a HQ1 got around 36000 and HQ2 over 39000 durability.

I really like the current system. When I think back at FFXI where most low level gear didn't have any bonus stats it makes the low level gear in FFXIV more interesting.
