Crafting and Training Question...Follow

It took me sometime getting used to crafting and figured out that I didn't need a recipe book or what-not to craft, I just checked online. =)

One thing I am a bit confused on is it required to get the recommend skills (i.e. Hatting Training, Sheeting Training) from the guild halls of my choice? I am trying to craft out a helmet but no success can make the **** thing.

If the training from the guild halls are required, how can I purchase them with these marks... how do I get the marks.

thanks for the answer guys.

Nvm, I misread. No idea about needing the training, but you can purchase them using points you gain from doing level 20+ guildleves.

They are not required. They just help a lot.

You start earning guild marks from rank 20 and higher local levequests, but they aren't offered as rewards very frequently. You also get 2k guild marks when you reach rank 20 and do the first class quest for that particular DoH class. I've been doing rank 20/25 local levequests for armorer for a week or so now and have only received guild marks as a reward for one of those quests. Something I'm tempted to try is a lower rank levequest and bump up the quality towards the final appraisal and see if that gives me guild marks as a reward.

The special training is not required. You get marks from leves that pay in marks, and also from guild quests, both of which you won't get until you reach higher Ranks.

What helmet are you trying to make? And what's your Armorer rank? Simplest helm is the Copper Barbut and that's Armorer 8, so if you're Armorer 1, it's to be expected that you'd have trouble making it. Do some rank 1 Armorer local leves to get your rank up.

Due to lack of rank 20 quests last night I was forced to take a rank 5 one. I kicked it out with a total of like 250 points and only got me around 3k gil, so its doubtful going crazy on the quality will affect the outcome (at least on sub 20 leves)

Good to know, thanks. Lately I've been city hopping whenever leves refresh to not only nab as many higher rank leves as I can but also because I get nervous that if I don't, the city (or cities) I don't visit will be the one(s) that offered the leves with the guild marks :P

A good thing that my buddies and I like to do (battlecraft leves) is start in Grid, pick up all things for tranquil, run there and do them, head to uld, pick those up for camp hope to belong or whatever its called, ride the boat to limsa. Same could be done for crafting but thats assuming you like to conserve anima and dont mind a run :) Also, if you wanted to blood port thats an option too, have your home point in a city, but start your day somewhere else, run to the other, then die and blood port to the third
