Managed to make it into the Eastern Coerthas (Camp Glory) from Gridania - before I got promptly sneezed upon, epic times!

Good grief this game has insane potential from the size of that map, and crikey do we need mounts, but despite the epic trek being cut short from a sneeze, anyone made it further than me?

Hah, awesome. This game has some weird/disgusting mob attacks. Dodos burp at you and now antelopes sneeze at you. All they need now is some sort of llama or camel mob that spits at you (Dhalmel spit perhaps? >.>) and it would be perfect.

I haven't gone to Coerthas yet, but strangely I want to now.

If you follow the road you can go from Grendia to Limsa without any problems (except for that evil Antlion on the road towards Ul'dan 1 or 2 zones before the ferry.)

Head South from Grendia following road and you will exit the forest to the savannah's of Ul'dan.

From there head south and you will arrive at the city. After that go north a bit to the cross roads and then head west to reach the ferry to Limsa.

I still hate the way they managed aggro. Plenty of times I tried to go exploring deep into a zone and spend 10 or so minutes running around mobs who completely ignore me. And by completely ignore, I mean randomly decide to hit me for 3x my HP after they finally notice me standing two feet away.

"I've been here for a while and the mobs haven't touched me so it might be a good spot to stop and get by bearings. *opens map* Okay, it looks like I need to go sou--" [The Harmless-looking Apkallu hits you for 3600 points of damage]

Good times.

Yeah I thought that was weird at first too. However it seems that some mobs won't aggro you for a few seconds and give warning signs.

Take chigoes for example. Normally the ones in Black Shroud and Thanalan won't aggro. If you run up to them though, they turn to face you, flare their wings up, and start hissing at you. After about 4-5 seconds or so, they attack you. If you run away from them while they are still hissing at you but before they attack, they won't follow you.

So maybe the mobs you ran across were like that. When you pulled your map up you might have missed the mobs warning signs. Although some mobs like those antling diggers, pieste, and inferno drakes will maul you regardless of what you do lol.

There used to be a message when a mob aggros you but I guess that was too easy mode for a SE game so it was removed.

I shall give that a go later, though with ~2 Anima on me currently, its going to be an interesting journey :D

Haha, yeah I stopped only for a moment to look at the map, given ol' sneezy was happily just munching grass, and then BANG sneezed on, as it turns around to go back to its grass...charming!

Well I made it to Ul'dah from Gridania, that was one epic, long and ZOMGZ killer Ants journey, warning to others, there's a narrow canyon along the road, after getting out the other side (if you're coming from Gridania), you will encounter ants that can attack you from a distance with 780 dmg in my case!

Gonna try for the coast eventually, though, possibly not tonight!

Try heading south past the plethora of raptors drakes and peiste mobs to Mor Dhona. That place is full of evil lol.

I walked from Gridania to Coerthas to Mor Dhona to Thanalan (the dangerous part) just to get to Camp Bluefog. Wasnt until later I noticed the cave leading there just north of Camp Black Brush. I was like **** I did all that for nothing. But then again I have a *** ton of camps and nodes active for later.

Yeah this game definately needs mounts. I also got sneezed on by antelope stags. Didnt think they aggro since the females dont.

Oh well fun to explore right? Later in the life of the game when you can go back and one shot antelope stags all day you will look back and laugh. :)

I have made it all the way to "The Lance" and then Twinpools, could not make it to Wyrmking's Perch because the cave there is full of mobs that will do bad things to you.

I did almost all the ones in the Limsa area and Thanalan.

um yea that. The problem with the angler was that it could've been avoided...sorta. When you're doing one of your quests and your monster decides to flee for miles and miles... A little frustrating when there is a random killer monster in the midst of blue ones.

Good times.

Happened to me too at earlier levels. I was hunting Sheep and there was a Goobbue walking around aimlessly, walking right past me over and over as I farmed. At some point, I decided to take a screenshot because it looked cooler than the FFXI Goobbue's and I figured that if it hadn't attacked me by then, it probably wasn't aggressive. Got within a few inches of it as it stared at me with a blank look and stands there for a good minute before it finally decides to whack me across the head with one of his appendages for 3900 damage.

I ran across this mudpuppy thing once and I found it funny that it looked huge and scary and had puppy as its name.

After going close enough to confirm it does not aggro, I promptly positioned myself to take a nice screenshot.

Great position and all, ready to take a snapshot.. Mudpuppy bites me for damage enough to leave me eating dirt.

I got every camp opened on my main character the other night. I came into Coerthas from Mor Dhona and died several times to anteleopes and once to a drake before I finally reached Camp Ever Lakes.

The hardest camp for me to hit was Camp Broken Water in Thanalan though. You get halfway through the seemingly empty canyon to the northwest of the camp and then suddenly you die without warning or even an attack entry in the log as 20-25 monsters appear all around you on the screen. I finally made it through after trying a few times to use Prospect to run through and messing up my timing. Even after getting through the canyon I had 3 monsters chase me all the way to the camp.

Now all you need is the nodes =P Try to go get "The Lance" up at the most north west part of Coerthas haha.

I really hate the consider system in FFXIV - I much preferred knowing IT++/IT-- etc

Red just means "I could kill it, or it will obliterate me if I look at it" - and from my experience - it is usually the latter :P

I like the newly designed "Clippers", however when I first ran up to one and it turned around and waved at me I thought I was a dead man.

My fiance and i ran all over coerthas (sp?) He got sneezed on by an antelope X) funny times, but we touched aetheryte all along the way so we just had to retrace our steps a few times. I personally got owned twice by some really ugly boars. By the time we got Mor Dhona (having carefully traipsed about coerthas) He had been sneezed on, stomped and slashed by various forms of (very ugly) wildlife.

One cool thing we came upon was a castle at the top of the region, I can't recall the name, but the guards mentioned it was the home of a goddess. I'm interested to find out what is in the castle, and hope we come across it in the storyline :)

That is Ishgard, it is a city not the home of a goddess. I think they are probably fixing a ton of bugs there haha.

funny story, altho ill be honest, im a little peeved that square saw fit to give every single freaking mob a ranged attack in this game. makes grouping some (well, most) mobs together particularly frustrating.

Yep, same happened to me.
But before that I got killed by a snort from a Hog in Mor Dhona.

Sooo, so far I've been sneezed, snorted, spit, blurped and nutkicked to death.

Btw. I've had the most fun travenling...erm, I mean sneaking from Ul'dah through Mor Dhona to Coerthas up to Ishgard.
Kinda reminded me of traveling with a level 1 char from one of the starting cities in XI to Jeuno.

Edit: Forgot to add another funny story. I've been running around exploring the area around Limsa and got to a lower level with crabs. There was a huge red one and I wanted a screenshot so I got closer and closer to it checking if it would aggro.
Since it didn't aggro I placed myself in front of it and hit the screenshot button when it raised its arms. Just seconds later I was eating dirt.

Yeah, I found out about this last night and the path is only a few meters wide so there is no way around them at all. Moving along getting around all the single mobs, came to this narrow spot and KO'ed... then about 15 or more mobs appeared on the map surrounding me. The annoying thing... I was trying to deliver a Level 1 Local Leve finished craft to a Camp. Why do they send out low levels to Camps that they have no hope of getting to?

In the alpha they used to say in the chat log "[Mob Name] notices you." or something like that, to indicate it was aggressive and has it's beady eyes on you. I wish that was still in there so you could tell if they did see you or not without actually looking at their character model to see the motion they do when they aggro (if you haven't noticed, they seem to do some motion when they aggro you). This would make it much easier to sneak around mobs, or at least let you know when to run like ****.

I made the mistake of wandering of into the forest around Gridania early on in the game and getting a rapter kick to the face for around 4000. It brought back memories of Cape Teriggan. Haha

It appears that some mobs are slow to aggro, and some moves require alot of stamina, and some mobs seem to have some sort of laziness:). the frog things are the worst, since the range of their ranged attack is at the far side of your radar, you can get aggro, and if you don't hear the grunt as you are running past, you can actually make it until they are at the far side of your radar and think, oh, he never moved... BAM 5k dmg... WTF??!?!

Yeah, I don't hate frogs, and have a personal vendetta against them for the remainder of the game! (they are my new rams... I will never forget my first trip from windhurst to bastok, and my friend telling me I don't need to set my homepoint just before the zone to the highlands... And making it to just in front of the crystal only to get my **** stomped into the ground and end back up in selbina...)

Stupid Frog.

More on topic though, I didn't even know there were stags there until about the 4-5th time I partied there, and my wife was sick of the exp we were getting from the doe, so she said "hey, what about this one it's red?" As she walks up to the stag, and gets sneezed on, and dies.

If this is true, that's an extremely cool new feature. Brownie points for SE, the changes aren't all bad!! :)

Idk, that Goobbue just gave me a blank stare for a few seconds before it slapped me. No warning signs. It was just like, "DUR DUR DUR DUR" *slap*.

Yep I got sneezed on last night.

I was trekking through Ceorthas last night, heading south to Mor Dhona. I saw a pack of Antelope Stags, and thought theyd be friendly (because other antelopes were i think?). Walked past a crowd of them, and the WHAM - blown over by a sneeze. ehhh...so i returned to the aeth gate, and continued on to Mor Dhona...avoiding all the Antelope.

Finally made it to a camp in Mor Dhona on the northern part. Then some strange magic aura weather fell over the zone...kinda creepy.
