are worthless.
I'm not sure if it's old news or not, but i tested out Protect, Rampart, Defender, and all three together. Either way I still took the same damage.

I'm rank 15 and tested on a mole, I used the same one so as not to skew the results. I let it hit me 10 times, low end dmg was 18, high end was 26 (only happened once, 25 happened a few times).

I know this isnt a very large sample but It's enough for me to take them out of my skill bar.

May test later on harder hitting foe and see if theres a difference but for now i wont be using them

no one has tested this or noticed similar results?
I was hoping someone would have tested these "skills" on tougher mobs and would save me the trouble lol

Nope. I've actually noticed a nice damage decrease using Rampart.

Try tanking something that you're not already capping defense on naturally. A low level mole as a rank 15 will not show you adequately. You'll notice damage drop significantly against a difficult enemy.

Against a Red Monster, Rampart can lower your damage by nearly half. I was getting hit for 290 in am Leve with Rampart I was getting hit for 180. It might be a fluke, but they definitely have an effect.

Stop tanking mobs that only do 30 dmg to you :) I am sure you are capped already.

I think this is a widespread problem on these forums right now. Someone should write a guide on how to test out theories in-game. I think a lot of people are testing things and getting skewed results because of their methods. It seems to me a lot of mechanisms in this game are put in place to ensure players are using gear around their level and fighting monsters around their level. But it's natural for people to test on easy mobs with little or no gear in order to keep things consistent easier.

And no I won't write one but someone should! :)

I've been grinding on efts lately. They hit me with no buffs for 600-700 damage. Fully buffed with protect, rampart, defender, and obsess they hit me for low 200. The buffs help and do work. But think back to FF11. Protect 1 was pretty much nothing. It wasn't until protect 4 that it was a massive damage reduction. They won't make the buff you get a 15 be the end all. The do have a rampart rank 2 and I would assume rank 3-4 when they increase the level cap.
