Gathering data and to me I have noticed that if your gear is damaged noticeable you will see a large drop in SP gain for that class

Then if your equipment drops to 0 durability for that class then you will see DRASTIC SP reduction.

Ill gather more concrete evidence tonight with actual parsed data, but this is news to me, sorry if this is well known if that's the case please disregard.

I got really frustrated with the Equipment Damage thing yesterday. I logged on, went to the NPC, had him repair all equipment, sat down and crafted two items... hempen cowls I think and the Equipment Damage Icon popped up. I went back to the the repair NPC had him again repair all items, went out and decided to do some mining. Took one swing of the pick-ax and the Damage Icon popped up again. I do not have any jewelry, the pick-ax is at 95%. It is annoying that the damage happens so fast now. I had things repaired three times yesterday by the NPC all up to 75% and to have something damaged within moments made it beyond frustrating.

Y'know I find it weird when so many people complain about gear damage happening so fast when I actually go for ages without having to repair.

Granted I swap between a lot of classes and have partially different gear sets for crafting/gathering and fighting so damage is spread out, but I have never had it happen faster than I expect it to.

All of the equipment I am using is on or below my level (both physical and class rank) so I am sure that's something to do with it.

I only ever get my undergarments repaired to 75% and repair my bow, body, legs, head and gloves myself.

Whenever I go hunting for ~3-4 hours, only one thing breaks- my staff. I get that repaired, and my other equipment lost maybe ~10% durability.

My needle goes maybe 8-10 hours of weaving without breaking.

What are you guys doing to break your stuff so quickly? Are you the nooby that equipped the bronze habugeon at level 15?

You need to wear stuff around your rank. If it's way too high, it will break very fast. The only thing in this entire game that breaks quickly is your weapon.

It is all below my rank, the original items the game gave out... and I was Crafthing the first time it just wore out. Made two things and got the damage Icon just after having the NPC repair everything. Maybe yesterday was fluke, it never wore out like that before. Heck I went the first whole week of the game playing every day for hours grinding out Local Leves, mining, killing mods and got no damage Icon, but yesterday it just did not seem to matter what I did.

All this speaks to FFXIV "requires" you to craft.....if you cant get your equipment back to 100% reliably then your gonna have to suffer though this time and time again. There are too many minues if you dont and to many bonuses if you DO.
