Odd, I thought SE doesn't tell you the reason for suspension?

At least the other thread said it... now we have 2 different threads with 2 different sets of facts?

Or maybe SE updated their system :) Personally if so, it is a step in the right direction.

My personal suspicion is that SE has changed their tactics of trying to fix their game to, "You can't quit... you're fired!"

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

Allegation of RMT, exact chat message quoted. The problem here is that someone who is RMT has possibly opened a game account using your email address which I would be quite worried about. I wuold change the password on your email account quick smart if I were you.

But then again, I'm always paranoid.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Whatever you do, don't reply to the e-mail, especially if they ask you for any information about yourself. Don't click on the link in the e-mail, either. Go to SE's website and find their support yourself and try calling them.

But from what others have said in this forum, they won't care or even talk to you. And also as others have discussed, there's probably no way to get your money back that won't involve spending more money than you lost. Makes you feel a bit helpless, eh? Makes you wonder what stops companies from scamming people more often -- there's little you can do about it.

basicly you got hacked and baned. btw alot of keylogers are in your cookies folder and auto delete when you close you browser makeing it hard to find them. all you do is visit a site with cookies and bom this 3rd party cookie is put there loging your key strokes.

most likley if im gussing corect. you run the game in windowed mode so you can view web pages. befor you launch the game you hit the web and search for info you may need for the day of gameing. you then leave the pages open and launch the game. then you log in (not useing the provided on screen keybored to prevent key loging) and play the game.

Yes, the exact same thing happend to my brother. Though he hasn't recieved an e-mail that his account has been suspended yet. He is also playing with no security token on my buddy pass. I don't think he wants to continue playing so I'm not sure how far he will pursue this.

I use malwarebytes as malware scanner, it is very good. If you haven't used it, give it a try. If you register you get active protection (e.g. stays on, scans things, almost like antivirus).

That was my impressions after I saw the exact quote from the "logs" which SE never gives.

If this is real, you got hacked. It's likely a keylogger which wont show up on most anti-virus programs.

There's definitely something not right about this. Since when do in-game messages appear in this way?

Also, since when do SE give exact reasons, let alone in game chat logs as reasons for banning. If i'm not mistaken, they just say you have breached the terms of service and leave it at that.

It would appear we've found our magic bean!!!

Also if you search for his name, it doesnt exist. But the made up account DOES exist.. on Kashuan... not selbina...

I'd recommend you scan your computer for malware to check for any keyloggers, then after you're sure everything is clear contact SE in a hurry. The 72 hour suspension seems like a grace period for hacked users to try to contact SE. After that, if they get no response from you, they'll probably just ban you outright when their investigation is complete. Be sure your computer is free of any keyloggers first though, otherwise it will just happen again.

Not only that, but I doubt they would use such ****-poor grammar such as 'Your account options was recently modified...' when it clearly should be 'Your account options were recently modified...'

And on a side note, as someone suggested above, this whole thread has to be bogus as the OP would have had to have logged in to be able to tell that his character was deleted and another was created on another server. Case closed.

It all seems fishy to me. Not to mention, that this guy has repeated the name of the website in this thread several times. That's one way to advertise your website without getting the thread deleted. I wouldn't think this way, but we all know that SE NEVER explains to you why you got suspended/banned.

Compare my message from square support to what the OP posted. Mine is a technical issue, but you can see that there are a lot of differences in format and language. "Final Fantasy® XIV" is probably the most glaring thing that I read on the OP. Registered symbol there... really???

Dear Customer,

Regarding your request for technical support. Please find your answer below.

If you are having trouble running the game even though you meet the minimum system requirements, please try the following:

-Power cycle your internet hardware
Sometimes, resetting the bad data stored in the connectivity device will allow you to connect normally. Turn off the power on the modem, router, hub, etc., wait several minutes, turn the power on again, and check whether or not the problem is fixed.

-Update firmware for your internet hardware
Some hardware may require firmware updates in order to function properly. Please make sure that your firmware is up to date for all your telecommunication equipment.

* To determine how to update your firmware, please consult the hardware makers. In some cases, performing an update even when you already have the latest version may improve performance.

-Connect your PC directly to the modem
In order to isolate the possible causes of your issue, try connecting your cable modem directly to your PC, without use of a router or hub, and see if the issue persists.

* The connection type may be changed to broadband. Please ask your provider about which settings to use.

-Disable or change firewall settings
At your own discretion, you may decide to uninstall or disable any uneccesary background programs. At this time, if you are using security software or firewall software, you can try (at your own risk) adjusting the settings so that ?ffxivboot.exe? is allowed to bypass the software, deactivating the software, or uninstalling it.

* How to shut down background programs
Click on the Windows Start Button. In the text box that comes up, type in "msconfig" and then click the "OK" button. The "System Configuration Utility" dialogue box should then be displayed. Click the General tab, and then click "Selective Startup." Uncheck the "Load startup items" checkbox, and then restart your computer. Once your computer has finished restarting, please try logging into FINAL FANTASY XIV again. After conducting this test, please be sure to return your "Load startup items" setting to its original configuration.
* If you are using Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2, you will need to go to Windows Firewall and create an exception for Final Fantasy XIV.

-Confirm Internet Connection
Please confirm that no maintenance is being performed and no connectivity problems are being experienced by your internet service provider.

-Confirm Internet Security
Please confirm with your internet service provider that no network security services are being performed by them. Depending on the type of security service being provided, your communication ports may be blocked and regular internet access may be hindered.

It all seems fishy to me. Not to mention, that this guy has repeated the name of the website in this thread several times. That's one way to advertise your website without getting the thread deleted. I wouldn't think this way, but we all know that SE NEVER explains to you why you got suspended/banned.
