Lodestone Radio is a new podcast starring Saieno (Outlanders - Istory), Pippa (Fancy Hat Brigade - Besaid) and Neiloch (Outlanders - Istory). Their goal is to have a weekly podcast about anything and everything Final Fantasy XIV-related, keeping the length around 1h 30m. For the podcast, Saieno decided to recruit his long time gaming friends to talk about their latest obsession, Final Fantasy XIV. The chemistry between the three hosts is natural and their discussions are very engaging thanks to their wealth and diversity of MMO experiences.

In their flagship episode they cover a wealth of information from official news to community speculation all the way to a core feature discussion.

Show Highlights: October 15th, 2010 Version Update Changes, Trial Period Extension, and November and December Update Plans (Ask the Devs / Letter from the Director).

Topics Covered: User Interface, Inventory Sorting, Menu Navigation, Maps, Log Window and Chat, Menu Changes, Targetting, Keyboard Settings, Markets and Retainers, Return and Teleport Costs, Battle Balance, Monster Placement, Guildleves, Synthesis and Server Load/Lag. Unimplemented Jobs and Game Information Speculation and a feature discussion on Battle Regimens and Incapacitation.

Every Saturday, Lodestone Radio records new episodes so be sure to visit the website at http://www.lodestoneradio.com and register. Post on the forums, send questions & commentary to the cast and be sure to tell your friends!

i haven't heard this one yet, but from the last XIV gamebreaker podcast.. I got the impression the show might be canceled. Gary was obviously disappointed with the game post official release and reviews, though he remains hopeful.

Only way I could see a ffxiv podcast thriving (aka not being canceled) is if the people doing the podcast enjoy the game enough to keep playing.

Still have to hear Kenzie's opinion on the game, post all the abysmal reviews. If she's still enjoying the game, then I can see her taking a bigger part in the show, and continuing the podcast.

Get better kenzie!

I think the difference between this new podcast vs gamebreaker is this new one is players who enjoy the game to the point they decide to start a podcast vs gamebreaker decides to start a podcast before the game is released to capitalize on hype and bring people to their website. Gary and Kenzie had absolutely no idea if they would even enjoy the game and would actually play it because it wasn't released yet. These new guys feel much more involved since they are players first and podcasters second.

The 2 dudes are knowledgeable, the girl barely played FFXI and keep comparing it to WOW. Annoying. Otherwise, it was a good distraction at work.

As a counter example, there was the Galaxy Report (which may still be going strong), which lasted for years after they started bemoaning NGE-SWG.

WEll, it's got to be better than that gamebreaker garbage, their podcast is more like a morning talkshow that sometimes mentions FFXIV every now and then. I've never heard a host of a podcast say "I don't know, but..." and then give an opinion on something they just admitted they know nothing about so many times. I think the problem is they have so many shows they lose focus on each individual topic.

I can't wait to try this new one. I need actual news and info from people who play and enjoy the game.

My goal wasn't to bash other podcasts, there's more than enough room for all of us to co-exist with our own style. Just go with your preference, but please don't bash them here. Just wanted to let everyone know about Lodestone Radio. =)

As has been mentioned several times, Saieno, Neiloch and I all have an extensive MMO background. You name it and we have probably played it. One game that many people can associate with quite easily is WoW and so I was making general comparisons to that. In general, comparisons (whether they be to WoW or any other game) will be made, because thats what we feel is necessary at the time.

Just thought I should address this.

And for those that are wondering, we are unbiased when discussing Final Fantasy XIV. If you're tired of all this blind bashing and complaining of a game that is perfectly fine and fun to be in, then this podcast might be for you.

If you listen and enjoy the podcast, be sure to let the ZAM community know! Reply so more people can discover Lodestone Radio as well.

Fun to be in? Sure, I'll give you that. Perfectly fine? No way. I don't think anyone is that delusional.

Love it or hate it. The game has issues, there's no getting around that. One reason I don't like a lot of the FFXIV podcasts is that they're overly positive of the game; to the point where they ignore even criticizing on a constructive level.

Gamebreaker is definitely guilty of this. Crystalcore does it as well. Aetheryte radio (Eorzepedia's main one, whatever its called) however had a good (balanced) discussion on their last episode on the games strong/weak points; one I could definitely relate to.

I've listened to your first two episodes now, and they're generally very good. I like the discussion and will definitely continue listening. However, the discussion regarding reviewers giving low scores to FFXIV in episode two (I think) was off-putting. You ignored many of the valid points brought up by critics (redundant UI, chat limitations, etc) and chose to completely right them off.

We may not all agree on what's wrong with FFXIV, but we should all agree that there are things wrong with it. In the end, I'd prefer listening to a podcast which isn't afraid to call the game out on it's weak points (but doesn't get obsessed with them) over one that sugar coats everything for it's listeners.

Yes there's issues with Final Fantasy XIV, the point is MMOs have growing pains. These small complaints are normal in MMO development and it's completely unrealistic to assume an MMO is released completed or perfect. Every complaint (no matter how small) has been countered by Square-Enix and is planning to rectify them by December. To continually complain about them after having already addressed by Square-Enix is completely redundant.

The game isn't broken, and the over-exaggeration from reviewers is completely unprofessional. MMOs grow and evolve over-time, just be patient especially since you've been playing for free and will continue to for the next 30 days.

Wish your show was video. No offense.

Without the video to occupy my attention, I tend to do other things and forget it's on.

Again, no offense.
