So i just downloaded FFXIV onto my new laptop, and when i try to open the game from the shortcut on my desktop i get an error saying "FINAL FANTASY XIV has stopped working, A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

My system meets the minimum requirements and then some, so that shouldn't be an issue. I just downloaded DirectX before installing the game, and my drivers should be up to date. Like i said, its a new laptop, so i've likely forgot to download something, but i don't know what.

Just in case you want to know, my system specs are:

Studio XPS 16
Windows 7, 64 bit
4 GB RAM
ATI Radeon mobility 5730

Any help on how to get this to run would be appreciated, i had the same issue with the benchmark, but didnt think anything of it at the time.

Have you tried running the game as administrator? I read that has helped some people.

Also did you update your motherboard drivers as well as your graphics driver?

Did the benchmark work for your computer?

check if you have VC++ Runtime Library, PhysX, and DirectX9 installed.

All those files should be on the setup DVD, you can try to install them manually and see if that may be the reason.

It's a new laptop, so the only user I have is the administrator.
How can I check for VC++, Runtime Library, and physX? Also, if I find I don't have one of them, where would be the best place to download it?
