its realy hard to choke down that this game might get beter... im still suffering for buying it im broke for the next 4 weeks on the loans i took out to get this at its pre release...(i never played wow) im a hardcore 11 advocate been there b4 wow sucked the life out the game and loved every minute of it. if any of u have ventured out into 14 -it would only take you 1 night to go every where... and the only thing to look foward to is the kick *** music in mor dhona and the soon to b selbina in north thanalan..... besides complaining about its problems- this game cant get beter cause of its "sega" style leve program - realy if that didnt work out how could they remove it the whole game is based on it. The only reason i play it is that it has to get beter, the only reason we stay is hope that se didnt sell out/. how can i set down somthing down i waited 4 years for...... im sorry for all who read this and think its a complaint

i think thats what makes it so bad, its not the fact that the game is a chore rather then every1 having to buy a brand new pc to play it $75 i could whipe my *** with, $1100 not so mutch....

Priorities my friend. One should never go broke in real life to play a game. If you do then I wouldnt post it on a forum.

That said I admire the dedication as I too have plunked down a chunk of change however, Im doing ok as I built my PC over the course of a month(August). The game does have to get better but I think early adopters of the game are focused on getting a foothold on their share of the "pie" in the game's economy. Prepping for future players and crafting so when new recipes for gear inevitable come out it will be just a matter of finding the mats and making said gear.

The game will get better no worries. Sometimes I honestly dont know what ppl were expecting. Sometimes it seems folks wanted End game in place that no one would be able to even think about doing for months as it will take a long time to get to class rank 50 anything w/o exploits or 23hr day grindfests.

Physical lvl is rather easy to do because of the abundant exp the game rewards you with for doing anything. Im phys lvl 27 and all Ive done is get most classes and crafts to 10 or so.

Im playing the game casually right now because it just doesnt make sense to me to grind to max lvl when there is no content waiting for me that warrants lvl 50 yet.

You really didn't have to spend $1000+ to enjoy this game. I'm sorry it didn't meet your expectations but spending over a grand upgrading your computer to play a next-gen game at maximum settings that you've never actually played before was foolish. At least you have a top of the line computer that will give you at least 5 years of use.

The hardware requirements wont increase, so keep your computer and come back when FFXIV has more content that you may enjoy. That's my "glass half full" advice to ya.

If you have never played WoW I highly recommend you start! You will be able to play windowed and on ultra settings. Its been a blast for me so far and like you I dumped a lot of money in to a desktop and laptop. Unlike you though I could afford such a moronic idea to begin with :P

Ah come on "TheAnf",$1100 will get ya a decent rig;better than decent if it's upgrades.

I put together my latest rig back in June anticipating the release of xiv.Spent $3400 and it's a
killer rig. Killer PC's are my hobby and would have built it anyway.
This game can go nowhere but up,and that includes all the bad code that's messin with everyone's machines, lol.

Do not despair my russian spirit drinking friend. Take a moment to read through the developer and producer notes from last week on lodestone. They are working on fixing the fundamental problems with the overall workmanship of the game as we speak (new update on thursday in fact)

You might wish to drop your sub for a few months while they get things ironed out (I may do that myself). I would be willing to bet come PS3 release time in march we will be into the large 'free' content update or possibly even a good sized paid expansion.

As much of a detractor of this game as I have been since its release they are slowly making improvements and communicating with the player base. I suspect they are betting the farm on the ps3 release in march meaning they will have to have some real polish in place if they intend to capture the console crowd (which from many hours in the forum I am guessing is their main directive)\

Nice job! Wow that sucks. That would be why I'm patiently waiting for it to come out for PS3. I'm a 360 user but, ****, I can part with $300 WAY easier than a grand! Hope it gets better and I'm sorry that it's slow going. I really think it will get better though! PC is the jumping off point....if it doesn't pick up soon and it keeps getting bad reviews....I don't see much promise for it on console....and somehow I don't see them releasing a game that looks beautiful, but has terrible game play. I've watched my husband play and auction house!?! And what happened to WHM? I have faith that there's no way SE would relase a game like this without plans to make it better...and probably somehow make more money off of it.

Best of luck! Keep playing. ^^

Exactly, don't spent 1200 if you can't afford it.

And I'm sorry you feel disappointed, maybe your expectations were too high? Do have faith in SE, their latest statements and communications have been very promising, I think things will get a lot better, pretty fast.

Good luck!

Sorry you spent money you don't have. Hope you learn from the experience.

Maybe you can sell your computer on e-bay and get some of the money back.

Better having no computer than be knee deep in debt.

You really shouldn't spend money you don't have to play a video game. BUT, it'll be a good life lesson.

I spent around $3000 on a gaming rig for this game (obviously use it for more than just FFXIV). Being able to pump up the graphics and still get 30-60 FPS (30 @ repair NPC) definitely enhances the experience.

It's a shame the game is not what you expected it to be. At least you've got an up-to-date computer.

This might not help much but I spent some $$$ to get FFXIV running myself. I was horribly disappointed when I learned my Alienware m11x cannot play this game ($1,100) ><

I insisted on upgrading my desktop with the latest ASUS SLI MB ($160), the AMD Phenom II X6 2.8Ghz ($200), and a single Nvidia GTX 260 ($200), only to remember how much a hate desktop gaming; I need to move around!
Out of pure frustration, I bought the Best Buy version of the ASUS G73JH i7 Quad core 2.8 (turbo) /w ATI HD 5870 ($1,200) on the way home last week; now I’m all set.

I make a decent living but this is ridiculous!

i spent 1600 on a new system and im enjoying myself immensely. I also play Sc2. Buy all the games you can because the 1200 can be used on FFIV and other games as well after all..more games u play the incremental cost of your system goes down :). I've heard good things about Eve and AION looks neato, but eh..FFIV keeps me busy enough :)

I spent $300 to get my new processor, MoBo and Memory to play this game. Unlike you though, I seem to understand that buying parts for a computer doesn't mean that I wasted my money if this game failed. I upgraded and all of my other games benefit too. You spent $1100 on a computer, play something else. There are plenty of other games out there, and some are cheap. You only waste that money if you decide not use the computer at all, if that's the case ... send it my way. I'll put it to good use.

People were expecting an enjoyable complete gaming experience. People got an incomplete, unenjoyable, bug ridden, basic functionality missing, grindfest that does not have any endgame. If you're like me you play mmorpgs for the endgame aspects. But FFXIV not having endgame is not even the problem! It's EVERYTHING else lmao. No endgame just puts more wood on the fire.
