Does weather affect crafting?Follow

I've leveled all my crafting classes to at least level 10 except goldsmith and cooking. Ever since they tweaked rapid synthe, I've been using Standard and Bold all the way and I've seen sparks coming out from my synthe sometimes but they never turned chaotic on me until yesterday.

I was doing my Armorer leves at the level 1 camp, it was raining and I was just crafting under the rain. My Armorer was level 9 and I was doing a level 1 leve. When Maker's Muse kicked in, I was using Standard synthe, then without any sparks, the crystal ball turned chaotic on my third Standard synthe. It didn't only happen once, but it happened twice on the same leve! I was using Standard synthe a couple of times in a row and without any sparks, it just turned chaotic. So it makes me think if the rain would make any influences on synthing.

Any thoughts?

I don't think weather has any effect on anything right now besides computer performance issues ;)

Whatever you experienced was coincidence.

I take that back actually - Just read http://ffxiv.zam.com/wiki/State_Alchemist%27s_Guide_To_Alchemy

Looks like it may have some effect.

Thanks for the link, I wonder who wrote those information in the wiki and is there any confirmation from SE about the weather section.

I sure hope it's only misguided conjecture. I will be severely disappointed if SE went that route with crafting again. the last thing I want to do is make sure I'm facing the right direction, under the right moon and on the correct day and under the correct weather conditions before crafting some rare item I want.

To me, facing in certain direction is one thing, but weather is another thing. When we think of an Armorer, we would assume he's making the armor inside a high temperature room with the forge and some cold water on the side. We know that the cold water is to instantly cool down the metal so it'll become harder and stronger. So if he's forging the armor in an outside area and it's rainning, then it does make sense that it's easier to fail.

However, I hope the moon and the crafting on the correct day is not true...that's why I want to find out if the person who wrote the guide got the information from SE or other sources.

Just a while ago, I was doing some rank 5 leves with my rank 7 goldsmith. It was raining at the camp and I had the NPC buff on me, failed 3 times out of 8. (was crafting bone hora for two different quests) The worst one failed 5 Standard synths in a row, 3 of them had Maker's Muse buff on. I guess I'll try to stay indoor or wait for rain to stop when I synth next time...
