Possible Solution to SP gain and Basic Attack SpammingFollow

Im tired of spamming the basic attack because its more SP gain effecient than actually finishing the fight fast and with all my skills.

I think the best way that they could do SP gain without doing a flat SP at end of fight is to have it be how it is now with SP gained based on damage dealt (obviously isnt direct 10 dmg = x SP gain so more damage =/= more SP), and then at end of fight do some equation to multiply (or divide if it takes too long) the amount of sp.

This would serve to both reward people for finishing the fight quickly by using tactics and more than the basic attack to defeat the mob quickly and deter people from purposely drawing out a fight.

Now they would have to take into account the level of mob vs lvl of player when determining how long the fight should take, but I believe this would be the best solution to the problem of random sp gains and boring basic attack spamming.

Isn't this how it was originally designed and required changed because mages weren't getting any points compared to melee?

Not sure if it was originally designed that way.

I didnt mean damage dealt really. Just meant to keep the SP gain during the fight how it is but add a varible for time it took to defeat the mob to the amount of SP you get at the end of the fight this way you have an incentive to use other abilities to defeat the mob quicker.

Example: (very simple one)

basic attack marmot 40dmg + 20SP
basic attack marmot 40dmg + 20SP
basic attack marmot 40dmg + 20SP
basic attack marmot 40dmg + 20SP
basic attack marmot 40dmg + 20SP
SP in fight gained = 100SP
Time expected to finish fight = 100sec
Actually time it took to finish fight = 120sec
Total SP Gained = 100 * (100/120) = 83SP
This punishes people for drawing out fights and has no incentive to basic attack spam

Cast burn on Marmot( afflicted with burn) 20SP
Cast Fire on Marmot 180dmg + 30SP
Cast heal for 200 + 10sp
basic attack marmot 40 dmg + 20SP
SP in fight gained = 60sp
time expected =100 sec
actual time = 50sec
Total SP Gained = 60 * (100/50) = 120 SP

Obviously Numbers would have to be tweaked and expected time to finish fight and all but this was just a basic example of what i meant.

Plus heals would factor into the equation still
