Must-Have Crafting AbilitiesFollow

I've heard good things about the Rank 10 Blacksmith/Alchemist abilities. I'm ranking up these two crafts in order to benefit my main craft.

Are these two the most beneficial or would it be worthwhile to obtain others as well? What crafting abilities really make a difference in DoH rank progression?

Those two are the best.

Fulfillment (Leatherworker) is decent, Masterpiece (Weaver) is the only other real "must have" among the level 10's.

Epiphany is great because it stacks with Maker's Muse and Preserve. Grab that once you hit rank 20 in your main craft and get 12 action points (3 abilities at 4 each)

Epiphany is terrible because it fails half of the time, and doesn't seem to do anything even when it works.

I have a strong love/hate relationship with Epiphany.

Luckily I don't have to worry about acquiring Epiphany because I'm already a Goldsmith. =]

Masterpiece is great to have when creating finished products that you'd like to + to sell

The others are better for just leveling and creating items but I don't think it's the worst to have

You're bad.

Masterpiece is incredible for making HQ, and that's what matters in crafting.

preserve, fulfillment are what I use, makes harder synth's possible.

I use masterpiece sometimes, don't find it as useful as the other two above yet, but i'm strictly leveling.

That's the beauty of the actions/traits system! Get 4+ crafts actions and if you're leveling your craft load Preserve + Fullfillment (or whatever you like) and if you are making items to sell change one out for Masterpiece!

I use masterpiece for most leves. It seems you get more rewards with higher turn-in ratings.

It really depends on what you want to do with your craft.

From personal experience, I have Goldsmithing, Blacksmithing, Weaver, and Armorer at level 10.

Goldsmithing at level 10 gives Epiphany and according to the Database, it says "Increases chances for improved craftsmanship of next synthesis. Most effective for parts." which I'm a little confused on as to what exactly is improved in my craftmanship.

Blacksmithing at level 10 gives Maker's Muse which, again, according to the Database "Temporarily increases rate of success for standard syntheses. Most effective for mass production." I find this ability somewhat useful when I just want to skill up off raw materials. And the best Successful Standard Synthesis gives Progress and Quality with no Durability Loss.

Weaver at level 10 gives Masterpiece which, again, according to the Database "Temporarily increases rate of success for bold syntheses. Most effective for mass production" Bold Synthesis is inherently risky as the penalty for failure is harsh with no Progress or Quality gain and heavy Durability Loss. But Where I do find this ability useful is when I'm doing Crafting Leves. When I meet the minimum requirement for the Crafting Leve, I then use the left over attempts to focus on upping the Quality of my products to raise my appraisel rating to 100+. Having an appraisel rating that high yields more Gil and sometimes extra items as rewards!

Armorer at level 10 gives Blinding Speed, "Temporarily increases rate of success for rapid syntheses. Most effective for mass production." I only find this useful if I'm running low on Durability and I need to finish the craft, well, in a hurry.

The other level 10 crafting abilities sound good too, even though I haven't had a chance to test them out. But here's my 2 cents worth. Happy Crafting.

Tender touch is beautiful. It is both good for getting through tough crafts and for HQing. Reducing durability loss is great for both. If you want to HQ tender touch makes it less scary to try using Bold - and if you just want to make it through the synth tender touch will often help you do a standard synth with 0 durability loss.

If you look on the Lodestone crafting pages, certain items are marked "materials" or "parts". So the crafting abilities that correspond with them are going to work better when you're making those items. ("Materials" tends to be the general-purpose synths of harvested material to intermediate material, such as ore to nuggets. "Parts" is more for sub-crafts like sleeves or toes.)

Usually I'll stick with Fulfillment and Preserve. Fulfillment is a good general-purpose boost, whereas Preserve is great for coming back from behind, or giving you a solid platform to bold off of. (Yeah, yeah, it's not red, but I'll take a successful bold on white over a maybe bold on red, and the success rate seems to be quite a bit higher on white.)

Just getting up to the point where I can add a third; I'm thinking Tender Touch.
