Q. Why can I no longer undertake the rank 20 armorer quest after accepting the rank 20 blacksmith quest?
A. The blacksmith and armorer class quests have been grouped together. Though players are free to choose either of the classes they wish, they will only be able to complete the quest for one of the two. For example, if a player has undertaken the rank 20 blacksmith quest, the rank 20 armorer quest will become unavailable. The player will, however, again become free to choose either blacksmith or armorer for the rank 30 quest. Quest content and rewards will be adjusted to fit the class chosen for the each quest.

* Quest progress for both classes can be viewed by opening main menu >> Journal >> Blacksmith & Armorer Quests.

WHY!?!?! This made me facepalm harder than I ever have.

I didn't understand what they meant; are their merit rewards and points pooled in the same npc too? Are their quests the same, or different? If they are different it'd be idiotic for SE to lock out half the content.

How much do the NPCs sell the undergarments for?
I actually planned on finally getting around to making some later tonite when i get home from work, but if the price isnt too too bad I may rather save the mats. =P

New undies are actually pretty cheap, assuming the vendor that sells the right ones for your race/*** are in your city. About 250 gil or so. Buy new ones and throw the old away.

They meant if you already did the rank 20 Blacksmith quest, you are locked out for the rank 20 armorer quest. They just got stupid lazy and made the same questline for both classes.

o_O WTF?!? By god, I think we have ourselves a winner.
That is epicly retarded.

As for the undergarment thing, any idea which of the 3 starting cities sells them for male midlanders?I get out of work in about an hour-hour 1/2.
For about 300 I would so rather just save my mats.
I've seen players seling them upwards to 5k. ***** that.

Not enough warning that you're out of ammo/arrows as an archer. We NEED one of those icons at the top just like gear damage or other status problems!

the fact that some hero on the dev team made absolutely ******* priority-numero-uno sure that my Dodoskin Cesti make a "k-chk" sound when i pull them out for battle while my Brass Knuckles +1 make a distinctly different, metallic "k-chonk" sound....but they left out a properly functioning UI.

and yet if you join a party using the party search menu, you can be invited no matter where the party leader is. so they can't even claim "realism" as their excuse.

It's like 900-1000 gil. 700 some for top (female) 200 some bottom (female), im sure male is similar.

For me, Lack of an AH is one big one. But the most asinine infuriating thing is having to have mats made by rank x class that are 10-20 ranks higher then the ******* tool/weapon/armor I'm making. My rank 11 bsm hammer needs everything from a rank 21+ weaver to a rank 15+ woodworker to a rank 15+ BSM (yes..a rank 12 bsm tool needs a rank 15 BSM for its head..as does the Rank 7 BSM tool)... When I started, I made the mistake of choosing Marauder (never do that, pick glad and buy a **** axe) as such I was forced to run around in my bra for 11+ ranks.

I initially looked into making a tunic.. only to find out that a rank one tunic needs mats from rank 6+ weavers, 10+ weavers, 15+ leather workers, and 10+ alchemists...

Quote:

Repair/gear damage related:
- Having all of my non crafting gear damaged while crafting or gathering
- Having to repair so **** often
- Having to make 'unequip all - equip all' macros because of that
- Having to repair items myself or seek other players to repair them to 100%
- Having to only repair jewelry myself or seek other players

Crafting related:
- Failing miserably while crafting recipes I could easily craft at low ranks - on much higher crafting ranks
- "Obtaining" recipes which aren't listed anywhere in my log, while being able to craft items without recipes in the first place
- Having to click multiple times, through multiple screens to even get to the crafting minigame
- Miss-clicking rapid synthesis because the craft options didn't scroll to the top after choosing a craft skill at bottom
- Having to play in windowed mode all the time when I craft to be able to check recipes, materials, components or having to write them all down to their basic forms on paper. Which I haven't done since the 80's for a game

World design related:
- Being almost forced to stay in one starting area, limiting my progress options, versus running out of anima, versus running and falling asleep while doing so, from zone to zone
- Dying on purpose in order to be able to return to a camp for 0 anima, versus running (my travel technique is evolving :P )
- Making the zones outside cities huge but with little diversity, almost generic, and killing my will to explore the world. Sure it's pretty but I don't care for more of the same behind the big rock in the distance.
- Making the Black Shroud map a maze dungeon with corridors
- Walking straight from a desert type zone (Thanalan) into a lush green forest type (Black Shroud)
- NPC populated areas feeling lifeless (even with players cramped around NPCs or big city squares looking like robots on 'stand-by')
- Having no clue about Eorzea or the world I play in, unless I read from 3rd party ressources

Market Wards/AH/Item accessibility related:
- Almost everything in general, pretty much hurts my brain still and makes me avoid that aspect of the game entirely

Battle related:
- Locking onto a mob that runs away, even if I expect it to, and instantly wanting to chase after it and then, while still locked, running into a tree or a pebble, furthering the distance and failing to nuke the fleeing mob one more time to kill it
- Not seeing what or who or how I'm fighting during leves where there's, for example, 3 more players doing the same, with double the mobs they're killing ---> /aoe on ---> pray
- Failing a leve I boosted to 1400 or so guild marks or over 20k gil because the game decided it was a good time to crash
- Being kicked out of party if I crash
- Friend assisting the leve still having my leve, the one that I lost when I crashed & was kicked out of the party
- Leve ratings (stars) not being accurate enough tricking me into death :O

Leveling related:
- Being a high physical level and half the rank on main class, making mobs show to me in lower difficulty colour, blue, and skilling up painfully slow on those due to the big physical level - rank difference (or so I was told)
- Dodos in general now give me no SP, and it's only them, regardless of their rank .... now this one really confuses me. Why do the fat birds hate me? :(
- Sometimes earning SP, sometimes not, on same leves, same rank, same dificulty and mob colour - in term making me waste guardian aspect
- Making me be a ***** and use basic attack to skill up faster
- Tricking me into thinking that if I can do leves rank 20 - I can kill the mobs around that camp out of leves too

So, it's a long list of stuff that I can't or couldn't wrap my head around, and I'm sure there's more. I still enjoy playing FFXIV oddly enough :D no matter the WTH-factor of some issues or the sheer frustration some of the features hold.
But.... from my own experience, and limiting it only to myself, FFXIV is now best consumed in short intervals, multiple times a day - instead of long hours continually.

Agreed on all points

Fighting a moraby, it goes to jump and dig down and do its popup attack, Only it glitches and hangs there in midair.

it(or another one) pops out, and its original glitched hanging in midair self turns into a new monster(not aggrod onto me thank god).

-Making the game more "Casual" in SE words, but making a 53k TNR for rank 34->35. I would hate to see the amount of skill needed for ranks 49->50.

Even in FFXI, I don't think you need that much EXP for level 84->85.

This is indicative of how truly devoid of any logical progression the crafting system is.

How about the fact that most of the low level (< 10) hempen gear made be weavers require items that can only be obtained at a level much higher than the gear whose recipes call for it.

The fact that rat and marmot hides drop from the lowest level mobs, but are only used for 1 leatherworking recipe.

That the client requests information from the server for every single action done instead of it asking the server -"were these actions correct?" afterwards.

And for the love of everything that is anything, why on earth does the client ask the server for the positions of the camps when you show the map? Seriously, that's just ridiculous.

I've got a huge list of things I feel are retarded design choices on SE's part but I'll just keep to some of the facepalm moments I've had during my play time this weekend.

-The "You cannot perform this action" prompt, which totally defeats the purpose of queing up moves when they refuse to fire without any specified reason. It destroys any rhythm or flow you had going for combat.
-Aggro mobs popping right on top of you with no grace period between them popping and aggroing you (At least give me some time to move out of aggro range with the mob I'm currently engaging).
-Being bound to one spot as character animation plays out (This sucks when you're trying to run out of AOE range and all of a sudden your character decides it's a good to time lower his shield arm -_-).
-Moles, I know it's not a design choice but they are by far the glitchiest mobs in this game. Sucks to have a mob attacking you when you neither can see or target them.
-Being unable to remove guard or swap it to an ideal location in the action bar

It's kind of retarded that the Action Bar isn't automacitally visible when you are in "active mode". You have to bring up active mode, then click again to bring action bars up. OR you target a mob, click twice then bars appear and you go into action mode. Why the extra click?

There should atleast be an option in the game config that makes action bars allways visible while in active mode.

Also having to log out and open another program to config graphics is retarded.

-Not being able to truly gauge mobs is a big one for me. Fighting one mob that is considered tough and defeating it with little effort, then fighting a second mob that is supposedly easy prey or decent challenge and nearly being defeated myself.

-The fact that you need to buy or repair underwear to me is crazy. Why can't I just go commando everywhere? Realism is arguable, as I'm running around as a big green guy fighting things like squirrels that have hundreds of hitpoints.

-It doesn't bother me so much that there isn't an AH, but the fact that I can't search for who has what and where is annoying. I also agree that it's ridiculous that I can look at someone's bazaar from 20 ft away, but can't buy anything unless I'm 2 inches away.

-Not being able to sort my inventory at all. Come on, I just want things where I can see them easily, and know what I have. With that as well, why do I have to scroll through items so much? I have plenty of real estate on the screen, why can't I just see all my items at once?

I know some of this is being fixed and whatnot, it's just frustrating sometimes. :) As I type this, there's a Cochineal Cactuar sneaking up on me while I'm fishing. I really don't like not knowing if a mob is hostile at a glance either. :P

Botanist is my highest job(lv 18) i have to switch to mine and fish and fight.I had gear damage happen out of combat while not even crafting.Macro unequip all between job switching sucked the fun out of job switching.I'm guessing SE logic is when your gear it being moved by Macro magic it gets damage by touching other gear and your body bio field. That's the only thing i can come up with.

I guess.... If I wanted to justify that 'occurrence' I could say it's "logical" that the gear gets damaged when switching, macro or no macro. But.... it seems a whole lot of other stuff damages our gear, hence we have more and more people running nude everywhere except when doing battlecraft leves. I'm just waiting that someone reports that talking in /linkshell damages our gear too :/
Macro gear-switching damage.... So we get to be whichever class we want, we can freely switch between them and, supposedly, have fun - but we're being penalized if we do it (often), which in term makes us have to go get repairs yet more often. As if the repair system isn't tedious as it is right now.
Unless they made a honest mistake and overlook some of these gear-damaging actions, I'd call complete bs on their "logic" >_>

I'm very surprised that more people aren't complaining about the crafting nightmare where to make a birdsbeak hammer for example you need a 29 Weaver for the canvas. This is a major issue across DoH professions and has not been addressed by SE at all. Sure in 6+ months from now when there are more people at higher levels and more materials floating around it will even out, but just the fact that I can't make my own hammer to advance my own smithing skills is embarrassing. IMO a recipe that requires a second or third profession to complete should ALWAYS require a lower skill than the primary profession being used.

Out of everyone here making lists and flaws, there MAY be 5-10 things that aren't justified to be fixed out of the many, many complaints. How do you let a game hit the shelves without any sort feature, not an auto sort, just a sort feature in general? Why is my gear still taking up my inventory slots when its clearly on my body? The game revolves around freedom of class changing (anytime anywhere) if so then why can I not switch stats (anytime) for a price of gil or anima instead of being forced into a cooldown per reassignment?

TLDR:
*Every DoH has multiple recipes that require secondary and tertiary professions that are higher than the primary.
*Why do I have to wait for a patch to get a sort function for FF-XIV when FF-I had one when it was released in 1987?
*Why is Bronze Chainmail in my inventory when it is clearly on my chest, along with every other piece of equipment that is on my body?
*Why can I not reassign my stats at will (at the cost of something like gil or anima or crystals or whatever) when the game is marketed to "Any job any time". My 50 STR conjurer dosent like that idea.
