I was in a party of about 4 on my marauder and I was trying to get folks to try some battle regimen to spice up the dull of the grind. At first my plea went unanswered so I figured I would try something on my own.

We were fighting Giant Crabs southwest ish from Camp Skull Valley and I was averaging 50-100 sp per battle. I was just happy for the change of pace and was content. So for fun I started throwing in some battle regimen+ Skull sunder. I noticed that when the crab went into its defensive pose I still did about 100 dmg while everyone else was hitting for 0s.

It wasnt until I did a raging strike + Battle Regimen + Brutal Swing did I see first off 190 dmg and 154 axe skill points. At first I figured ok nice but a fluke. Then I did it again and same result. I was like ??? and battle ended and I had 493 axe skill points. I was thrilled and told the group. They were like Congrats and stuff but still it didnt click.

Next fight I did a mix between raging strike + br+ light swing for 83 axe skill points per and end of the fight I got 450 axe skill points. I again communicated this in party chat and there was a bit of silence.

Next fight I noticed battle regimens going off left and right as the group started doing their own solo.... which (part of my plan to luck onto regimen effects) and the lancer and myself accidently did Regiment of Constraint. Which was Battle Regimen+ Trammel for lancer, then BR + Light Swing and I being the second to stack activated it and boom! "The Giant Crab is under the effect of Regimen of Constraint in chatlog. The big reason I was excited was the mobs were blue to me and usually blue mobs for me anyway, never yield much sp.

Oh btw I was lvl 18 Mar at this time. I admit I didnt know what it did to the crab as it died shortly after but I figured perhaps I stumbled on to something.

After the party broke I was about 2k sp til 19 so I decided to head to Coerthas and see if I could take arbor squirrels. I only fought the yellow ones and figured I would try same method solo. To my surprise I got 200 axe points on first BR+Skull sunder, not to mention the 30-40sp on the occasional light swing. So you guys be the judge. Idk if it was an exploit or just random luck but it made fighting more interesting to me and gave me a desire to grind more.

Just thought I would share my experience and invite others to try throwing BR into the mix the next time they fight and see if you get any noticeable gains.

Anyway just thought I would share.

Do you know if BR is fixed yet? Last i tried.. the last BR does not go off.. meaning to get a 2 person BR to hit.. you had to have 3 people involved to get it to work.

I've pretty much given up on battle Regimens. Cant even get the super simple ones to work. SEs explanation of them is pretty terrible too. Theyve tried to explain it several times, but they dont word things very well.

I think the distance matters to a point. I have seen when commands are stacked and someone initiates but you only see one attack go off and other stays in the queue.

I think it could be a distance thing or that both ppl are activating simultaneously on accident. I do them solo just to get used to the practice of doing so. I think it is still bugged a bit. Also I would like some sort of on screen confirmation that the regimen took effect. I loved seeing the big explosions or effects of Skillchains in FFxi.

I would say keep trying and make sure distance is not a factor due to mob moving out of range and such.

I will test more the next time I am in a group.

sorry if this is common knowledge.. but how do you do them solo? I've tried to do them with a partner and we could never get them to activate :(

Mind you solo doesnt add any of the effects but they can be done with a slight increase in damage.

During active mode in a fight move as far to the left and confirm. You will notice the color change to red and it should say Regimen mode or something like that.

You then Select an action( ws spell or simple attack). when you do that you will see animation and will notice that the command you selected will appear usually on the right hand side of screen (default)

Then you simply move to the far left and hit battle regimen again and the attack should execute after a brief powerup style animation and thats it.

Thats it in its simplest form and what I call solo.

With a partner simply one of you battle regimen and choose attack. When you see their ability on right hand side of screen you then stack yours by activating as if solo.

After you see both commands on right hand side of screen. Only one of you needs to select battle regimen again and in unison both members will do the powerup animation and the attack should go in order stacked.

Now in theory its that simple however, if anyone is out of range of mob or whiffs then the effect of the regimen wont work.

Im not an expert but I have had some success with partners that take the time to learn the steps and are patient to keep trying until its more automatic.

Hope this helps.

You can WS with it.

And last night I went ahead and tried some crabs after reading this post. Soloing BR does indeed make you do normal damage when the crab goes into defensive mode. I think it's a bug that needs to be fixed.

Here's an issue I've found:

Battle Regimen locks your healer out of cures.

brilliant work, programmers!

don't pop off a battle regimen if you need heals to stay alive, cause this will lock your healer up and you aren't getting a cure when you need it.
