We're all on the same side... we are all supporters of FFXIV! We all want the game to do well. We all want to have fun playing it. If we weren't all supporters of FFXIV then we wouldn't be here (unless you're a Blizzard plant, that is). Smiley: smile

The only thing really separating us is that some of us (myself included) are having enough fun that we don't mind the monthly fee. Others aren't getting enough satisfaction to justify their payments.

There's no way the people who are having fun will suddenly stop having fun just because of something that someone else posts. Likewise, words on a forum aren't going to make a nega-dventurer suddenly enjoy the game.

And what am I trying to say?

I do not know... I lost my train of thought.

EDIT: Admin page claim ftw!

Funny to see this topic come up... just yesterday, I was actually talking with a friend about my half-serious suspicion that many of the negative posters are Blizzard plants!

When a company destroys it's own game and good name who needs plants from opposing MMO companies, worst most amateurish release I've personally ever seen and the most horrible reception to a big name MMO ever. I've never seen anything this pitiful before and Blizzard must be laughing themselves silly and the amateurs behind this game.

If the release of FFXIV was to be viewed as a battle between two heavyweights for subscribers, FF14 would be the one that bumped it's little toe on the way to the ring and ran home crying to mommy. Sometimes the best "sabotage" you can do to a game is let them do their own. I would honestly be ashemed if I was anything to do with Square after this games release.

I used to be very anti wow and a staunch defender of XI, if they had given the users the respect they deserved there would be a heck of a lot fewer negative posts across the internet and many would be defending 14 as strongly as they did 11. When a company releases an important game that people have been waiting for and totally ruin it in almost every possible way (when the beta people were telling them over and over what the problems were)there is going to be some serious fallout. If nothing else I hope they learn that lesson for future games.

Not really. The reason I don't like threads like this is because he's specifically trying to get people to hate the game with him.

Step 1: Go to fanboard for X
Step 2: Post about how you hate X
Step 3: Rally troops to hate X with you

I don't get the logic. Might as well go to a Star Trek forum and try to tell people why space travel is infeasible or go to a cat forum and let everyone know how much more you prefer dogs.

If you're trying to rally support -against- something, why would you go to a place where supporters are likely to gather? Would you show up at the Democratic National Convention to gather support for the death penalty or go to a dance club to gain support for noise bans?

Either the OP is trololololing our fourms or he's an idiot. Possibly a combination of the two.

#107Chaiwallah, Posted: Oct 23 2010 at 8:34 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Just play the freakin' game. You paid for it. Enjoy it. Why do you waste so much time posting in forums? I'm playing LOTRO at the moment, and I couldn't care less what people think about that game. I enjoy it, but I don't check the forums to make sure everyone else does too. I've never even visited forums for MMOs before. I just felt FFXIV was special and deserved some attention is all.

Because some people see so much wrong with the game, that they are unable to perceive how someone is able to enjoy it?

Sad. The OP had a few points that were worth mentioning,
but his ridiculous attitude ruined it all.

The logic makes more sense like this:

Step 1: Go to fanboard for X
Step 2: Lurk/Post/Read for over a year about how you're eagerly awaiting X
Step 3: Spend money upgrading PC, pre-ordering the CE (only for a headstart) for X (And only X)
Step 4: Beta test X. Voice concerns over official forums about it's short comings. Have voice fall on deaf ears.
Step 5: Wait for official release of X. Because, of course, there is always hope...
Step 6: Play X at official release. Have worst fears come to life. Become extremely dissapointed with X.
Step 7: Post about how you hate X
Step 8 (Optional): Rally troops to hate X with you

Of course the point of contention being the part about posting that you hate X. I agree, there may be a hand full more hate threads right now than necessary but it just goes to show where a majority of the community stands on the issue (on the flip side, if the game was great, we'd all be posting about how awesome everything is).

I've made this point before but I'll say it again: This forum isn't just for people who want to talk about this game in a positive light. It is a final fantasy XIV board, of which we are in the general discussion section of. General discussion involves all topics: Negative, neutral or positive.

I think its more akin to being a star trek fan anxiously awaiting a newly announced upcoming series that will be the best thing ever..featuring actors from an older smash hit series, amazing special effects, 5 years in development! A whole new world... the best you ever saw!

Then they release it and its a mix of star trek and love boat with terrible acting, horrible writing etc, yeah your gonna be ****** because it was something you wanted to be a part of and they fked it up and there arent any other series you like as much. The anger at them messing up something you hold dear and really wanted to be a part of but arent able to be because it's too crap makes you grind your teeth with rage.

#114Chaiwallah, Posted: Oct 24 2010 at 8:30 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Exactly so. Did I mention that my first exposure to MMOs was FFXI? I loved that game, and I love the genre. I played it for three years, had maybe six toons and can still, six years after putting it aside, travel from Windurst to San D'Oria to Bastok overland in my imagination. I had great times in that game and especially enjoyed partying with Japanese players (which is something I wanted to do again in FFXIV). I guess I'm not to be forgiven for having the great hope, but apparently unrealistic expectation, that in this second effort by SE after so many years of MMO experience, years spent in game development and advances in hardware and software and game design that they would produce something that would impress and excite me like that first exposure to a virtual world did. After all, they were leading me to expect something great. I don't know what version of FFXIV you're playing, but the only one I saw is sh*t. As I said in my Metacritic comment, "FFXIV is an insult to the Final Fantasy fanbase. It's a Titanic fail."

To get in on the silly analogy fun, I think it's more like they release the new Star Trek and while the setting, ship and acting are great, the episode is only 15 minutes long, it's only available in Blu Ray and the disc menu is overly complicated.

FFXIV is a fun game. It mainly needs new content. The system for interacting with the game is already scheduled for improvements.

Try some racist comments and advertising RMT sites if that don't work out for you. Best of luck with that.

I am so with Pikko on this ****..

Honestly.. It's like telling people like the OP that the game is enjoyable is just total moonspeak to them. They don't get it, they won't get it, and a year from now when the game is polished up and totally badass they will come back and ask us to thank them for making the game better..

It's been done.

While I will admit that I'm not exactly thrilled with the current state of XIV, I'm still happy with its potential.

Regardless, how much or how little I like any game; be it FFXIV, Halo, Fallout, Civilization, SSBB, or Hello Kitty Island Adventure... Just because -I- do or don't like a game doesn't mean other people don't or do like it.

If you don't like the game, then fine, you're entitled to your opinion. But it seems absurd to come to the fan boards for a particular game and mouth off about the idea that you can't see how -anyone- would like a game.

Just to pick a couple notably unpopular ones, I personally liked Final Fantasy Mystic Quest and Quest 64; two games that are pretty unpopular that I thought were fun as **** regardless.

So even if it's not -your- cup of tea; that doesn't stop others from enjoying it.

I really keep laughing about you people. YOU were hoping something for, while SE told you the whole time that this game will be different. Dispite of the flaws, i am for sure that that is not the real problem. You are all so naieve. Be mad about yourself.

For a company that only thinks about money, i have to say it's a strange strategy for releasing a game that people don't want to play... But i guess that makes sense for some people.

Anyhow, in the meantime SE are fixing stuff and we can play for free.
