I /think/ the OP is referring to the Guild items in the conj/thm guild that turn stats like mind and int into stats like str and dex. I don't honestly have an answer to the usefulness of these abilities, unless a conj didn't have much dex and suddenly had a use for it? Haven't given it too much thought.

Ah, maybe it's meant to be used if you change professions, given that the reassign has a huge cooldown (that may increase with level, though that is unconfirmed afaik) and only lends partial returns.

And level up the Melee classes to get the mages traits

All melee jobs get the +10INT/MND/PTY and +5INT/MND/PTY traits
All Mages jobs get the +10STR/DEX/VIT and +5STR/DEX/VIT traits
It's there way to force you to play more than 1 class (and not only 2 melee or 2 mages but you are forced to play 1 melee and 1 mage if you want these good traits) at lv+30 each state take 4points to increase so 15Vit is equal to 60 points

Crapy system by a crapy game.

If you are playing DoM as main, you prolly wont put points in melee stat. Somehow when you decided to play DoW, you can purchase those traits and convert some of your bonus to melee stats.

Since those traits only affect the bonus, which means, for example, if you haven't put any point into str, a -str10 bouns +int 10 bonus trait wont do anything.

Also, each stat cost 1 bonus point below 40, 2 bonus point between 40-60..etc, there's nothing to do with your level.

Crapy comment by a crapy player.
#8SephNex, Posted: Oct 23 2010 at 9:16 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) SE defense force? at level 30 when you spend majority of your points toward STR or DEX as a melee it will take 4 points to increase your state by 1 point, go back to the hole you came from
#9namasy, Posted: Oct 23 2010 at 9:22 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) yeh i still dont really get it, i save up so many marks for thm/conj and blow it on all useless traits..

Sounds like a pretty good system to me. Why? Because it gets players to play classes they otherwise might not. This game is all about diversity rather than sticking to a handful of roles. It's very core encourages players to explore the different game roles and enjoy them. By getting players to level melee jobs to enhance their mage classes, they entice players towards enjoying different ways to play.

And before anyone responds to this by saying its a bad system, I'd like to point out that not only did Final Fantasy XI do exactly the same thing with its support job system, but other games have as well such as Guild Wars.

No one is forcing you to play those classes to gain those traits, they are a bonus available should you wish it. Use them or don't, its your game. Play it your way.

I did add something useful. You two are arguing a concept within the game's mechanics but from reading through the thread, you couldn't handle an argument about a concept in a third grade language arts course. It's hard to convince people you're intelligent enough to present a cogent argument when you're not intelligent enough to speel gud, k?

Seriously, who would ever play something like a Bard/Ninja, right? Or, like, some mismatch like a Dragoon/Blue Mage? Or that never-once-used hodgepodge Red Mage/Dark Knight! What's next, a dancing samurai? I think not.

you could almost say RDM/<insert any job here>. god leveling all my subs got tedious..

I had an awesome Taru Paladin/whitemage main heal for me several times from 60-70 on my first job, even main healed/tanked once or twice.

Er wait I forgot people using these combo's didn't exist. ignore this post please.
