I'm just trying to figure which of the 3 starting cities is the busiest, as busiest should mean: more chance for faster repairs, get-up parties, more varied market wards etc.... Guessing it's Ul'dah since Rank20 quest takes all 3 nations there.

I find myself mainly lurking in Limsa as of late.

Gridania seems to be busy in the sense of laggy as hell. ;)

The market wards usually have a fairly decent offering, though I admit I haven't been to other cities yet. The prices are competitive at least, which is nice: I started on Karnak originally and the prices there were up to six times higher.

It seems most of my parties are around Limsa. Ul'Dah is a busy city, as you expected. I have never had any problem finding repairs, especially in Gridania. They're all fine to start in.. choose whichever you like most.

Uldah would be my pick for starter city. It has become the most popular ever since the crafters began making it their home shortly after launch, which means its probably the best place to go shopping. Now that Everybody Loves Coblyns, its also popular for exping. I also happen to prefer the many excellent leves i can pick up there.

yeah its a necro, but this forum needs life

Apparently Ul'dah is the place to be. As some already said, good leves, easy(ish) access to camps, it's easy to get around the city (Gridania is just to wide spread and Limsa - ugh, so many bridges and winding staircases), the repair NPC is close to city entrance/adventurer's guild/aetherite as well as the Wards. I wonder if devs planned on this or if it kinda just happened.... (also Ul'Dah is between the other 2 cities if you go on foot).
Can't wait for Ishgard to be opened to see if the population migrates in masses as they did to Jeuno in FFXI :)

r1-30 i spent most of my time in limsa currently i have been spending more time in uldah as the marketwards seem to have a better selection and leves are faily easy and outside areas to exp.

Since last time I posted here, I haven't left the Thanalan except on one occasion. Better supplied market wards, more players for repairs and mostly; better guildleves than in other 2 regions (as far as I could tell). It also seems much easier to get by.... unless you want to go to camp Bluefog which is now surrounded by hordes of Diermites with huge agro range :s
