I want to apologize to all those I've offended. I began my SE plant thread (the first one) with sincerity. I made what I believed to be valid observations on the game. People responded for the most part in knee jerk fashion aping others making ad hominem attacks against me. And, yes, I responded by doing a little baiting. I was having fun. Sorry. I can see now that you're against that. But that's probably why you're drawn to FFXIV. I was hoping that one of the respondents to the thread would offer some semblance of a valid defense of the game. I was disappointed there. All I got was: it's pretty, and it will be good, just wait and see. I might suggest the Sims series to those of you who like to work in a virtual environment or who only have an hour or two a day to play a game. You might find it more soothing. I mean, what is it? Why are some of you getting so upset? I'm only one person who doesn't agree with you. Are you so identified with your avatar and so invested in "representing" in the game that you can't accept that it might fail?

It seems to bother you more that the game, "might not" fail.

Why are you hiding another attack underneath the guise of an apology? Are you having more "fun" now that your original post fell off the main page?

You recieved plenty of valid opinions and reasons as to why we enjoy this game but you will never accept them because you are so clearly against it. If you don't like the game then leave. Stop wasting your energy on your critique crusade*. You said you enjoy LotRO? Go play that, I bet you have your reasons for enjoying it, I can understand that different people like different things, so move along.

What do you hope to accomplish with another thread? What do you hope to accomplish on these forums at all? We like the game, we aren't delusional, or lieing to ourselves, we just like it and no amount of excrement posters like you can fling will change that. Let people come to their own conclusions. Let people enjoy what they enjoy.

You may find a more receptive audience here and in your day to day life with a more reasonable tone. Ignoring anything else you said in the other thread, I have only skimmed it myself anyway, your apology when read by a neutral party, sounds a little like, "I'm sorry you are all too stupid to see my point." when boiled down to its base essence.

An olive branch is a tool for finding common ground, not beating people over the head. I have found, in my relatively short tenure on internet forums, that more often than not, people do not respond so much to content, as tone. I have seen two identical arguments received in two completely different ways, merely from the tone of the post, perhaps you should try talking to us as if we are older than twelve; even if you see us as such, I assure you, we are smart enough to read the disdain in your post.

No you may not suggest the Sims. If I wanted to play the friggin Sims, I'd have bought and installed the Sims. I'm upset because I see people telling me that "I'm not playing the game right" or "The game absolutely sucks and I hope it fails" when I do enjoy playing the game the way I have, and I do have fun in the game. I actually have played the Sims, it's boring. I don't want to accept that it might fail because then why play? If I know the game's going to fail then why would I want to play? Might as well quit and save myself from paying monthly fees when they do start. I don't want to accept that something that gives me joy might be taken away from me.

People here like analogies. Think of getting a new puppy. It's very cute and cuddly, but slightly mentally retarded, so it doesn't train easily and won't do tricks. It has the potential later to be a perfectly good dog, it will just take some patience and time. But you are still having fun with the new puppy and it gives you a lot of joy. Would it be as fun if you knew that it wouldn't live more than a couple months? Would you be able to play with it without feeling sad?

Edit: you want a valid defense for why we think the game isn't complete crap and why we want to continue playing?

Read Lodestone.

They've got a lot of things they're going to release by the end of 2010 to improve the game, and most of it answers the feedback people have given to SE. So I am going to wait and see how these change the game. At this point it's safe to say that the game was released prematurely, and I doubt it was the dev team's decision.

It's pretty simple. The people who are enjoying the game or muddling their way through as best they can anticipating improvement don't need more negativity. The time for that is over. If you had actually come forward with a reasonable discussion instead of smartass douchebaggery and general textbook forum trolling, people might have taken you a little more seriously.

People may have taken him seriously if he didn't open up that other thread. It seems that the op is the only one here that actually is in denial.

Square Enix... retarded puppy... hmm, yes:

I think this marks the very first, perfect analogy I've seen on these boards!

So you admit to trying to bait the forum, but are disappointed that you didn't get thoughtful in-depth replies. You get what you give, mate.
