I played FFXI a bit and I was majorly excited about FFXIV after watching the trailers seeing the classes ect but when it came out OMG I was dissapointed!!

Before ranting I want to say what I like about the game - the crafting system, I love the fact that you can make everything you will need, the armoury system, the classes, these things are great that's why im so bummed that the game makes me so disgusted.

I can accept the small things like the UI, the lag ect its a new game, it will improve. So I played waiting patiently for these to get updated but during my playing I began to detest FFXIV, not because of the small things but because of the things that they wont change/get rid of like the wards (I know the search is coming but that aint gonna stop people filling the wards full of s**t) and the leve system - I can understand what they are doing with the limit of 8 per 36 hours but the actual leves themselves, kill X insects, make X hats, collect X ore its just SO dull and repetitive, go to the same spots and kill the same enemies for a week at least before you can move to another camp and do the same. SE thought they were being really clever and innovative introducing a new quest system but they FAIL!! When your not doing battle leves if your want to level your disciple of war/magic class you get in a party (if your lucky) and grind dodo's. They've made the game so that its one big grind, I don't know about you guys but I find grinding seriously boring. I want NPCs and dialog for my quests, its lets you get into the game, I want to be gripped by a quest and feel like I am accomplishing something not killing some jellyfish 100 times.

The game is not fun, ive not done one fun thing in it, it just feels like your enduring it while you level so that you can have fun later, you shouldn't have to endure a game it should be fun the whole way through with a feeling like you accomplishing something other than gaining levels (very slowly). Can anyone mention fun things they've done?? I bet you have to think pretty hard if you can think of anything. WAKE UP SE LOOK AT THE POPULATION DECREASE AND TRY MAYBE MAKING THE GAME FUN!!

Also has anyone else noticed that this game is like a f***ing safari slaughter? Nearly every enemy ive fought has just been a type of animal with a slight change, its final FANTASY where are the fantasy creatures? I know there skellies when you get to 40ish but I don't want to get to 40 before you fight something interesting.

Whats up with the hate? I played a Gladiator and I would pull with provoke and taunt then start phalanxing but a couple of good consecutive attacks from an archer would draw the enemy.

I noticed tonight while being bored that there was only 900ish people online as oppose to the 3k at launch seems like im not alone in feeling that this game just is not fun.

Anyway i've had my rant now. Goodbye FFXIV community id say its been good but it just hasn't, ill just be dissapointedly waiting for Diablo 3 to be released :(.

They lock it because there is a sticky where these threads belong, not on the general forum.

When I played FFXI, by level 30 I was killing dragons and the most nefarious villains like...ever. I think people are expecting too much from early game content. If you keep reminding yourself that you're playing a brand new MMO that has yet to fill out content wise, the relentless slaughter of rats and dodos makes a bit more sense.

People don't realize how much time it takes to develop that content. They want quests that send them off to do important things (at rank 10!) with all kinds of awesome bottled up into a wee little scneario and don't realize that someone has to design and implement that scenario and doing so takes time. And let's also not forget that quests in other MMOs are typically no different in base concept from XIV's levequests. "Kill <x> of <y>" or "gather <a> of <b>" or the truly epic "Kill <x> of <y> AND gather <a> of <b>!" But the one constant in all of those MMOs is that if you get 30 people trying to do the same quest at the same time you typically end up with a bunch of bored players standing around waiting on respawns. SE opted for a more dynamic method that spawns mobs for you, and only you (and your group, if applicable) so that you can run out, find 'em, spank 'em, and get things done instead of stand around waiting. That system carries with it some limitations right now, but it has lots of potential down the road.

Game is fun, its just too hard for you. They are startin to give us good update and more content, just be patient. I'm aware that this game lacks of content for now, but just be patient, find a good LS lvl up and get you char ready for new content.

I would just like to point out that in FFXI I remember enduring quite the same things . . I fought bunnies and worms for 10 levels, and then crabs, and then fish... when I finally got high enough to go to Jueno I fought more worms, more crabs. . . and then more fish. Eventually I moved on to some mandragora and crawlers. And, quite ironically, most of these didn't even have slight changes in design like they do in FFXIV.

Point is, in FFXI most of the people that quit the game did so because they didn't want to endure the process needed to get to the cool parts. You don't pick WHM, grab your spoon and run into sky on day one. It's a long process of hard work that will eventually launch you into an endgame experience that you are proud to have achieved. That's the point of achievement right? You work hard for something and one day it pays off and you feel an amazing sense of accomplishment.

I'm not saying that this game is perfect and the most fun thing I've ever done. However, I tend to follow the reasoning that an experience is what you make of it. Any game involving other players tends to be more fun when enjoyed with friends. I enjoy sharing this new MMO with my friends, it's a fabulous experience I missed out on in FFXI because I started pretty late. Right now my friends and I are going slow, adventuring to scary places and dodging dragons and evil pigs to investigate random caves, finding creepy monsters and running for our lives into unknown places. I can't really describe how neat it is to go into a zone that I didn't read about on wiki or hear about in linkshell chatter as if it were common knowledge.

I guess my point is... your experience is what you make of it. If the game launched you off doing all the cool things without working for it, you'd get bored as well. FFXI was a grind, FFXIV is a grind in its own way, and I didn't really expect anything else. Did you? :/
