Would be interested in your likes & dis-likes about FF14. In specific what keeps you or doesn't keep you playing the game?

Will you play the patience game with SE again? etc etc

Yeah. It is fun. I am looking forward to more content (hopefully outside of leves) and the announced version update and (hopefully soon) more magic classes.

Sometimes it feels to grindy for me but I've felt that with every mmo/rpg I have ever played.

I have to admit, however, that if I could pay for FFXI with crysta and get my old character back (without a nightmare headache) I would be very tempted. The level of content is just on a totally different scale, but it isn't really a fair comparison.

Yes. I am enjoying the game very much. I can never seemingly get what I want accomplished in the 3-4 hours I play a day, which means there is enough content in the game for me at this time. I am looking forward to the major updates as well.

I'm having a great time exploring and learning about the game. Right now I do a little of everything (DoL/DoH/DoW) and it's, well--fun. The variety makes it so it isn't a grind. I get all the mats I need while xping and gathering so I don't have to bother with retainers and such.

To me it is fun. My husband and I play together, and we get to explore an entire new game without feeling left out from starting late like we did with XI. For us, there is enough content, however I can see how many others who get a chance to play more than we do could get board and frustrated with there not being enough diversity. However, it is a game that is just starting out.

I finally had my first dose of "Oh wow, this is really awesome" aside from the initial awe I had when the game was first released. I took a week or two off without really realizing it and when I came back the other day I was really enjoying myself. I finally got the hang of the combat system and timing on my Gladiator and had a bunch of fun just killing stuff. I also reevaluated the crafting system and I have high hopes for it when the search system is released for the market wards (though I still want an auction house).

Like many players I have a lot of issues with game play. I am FAR from being a fan boy.

That said, ya, I am having fun with the game. It still has that shiny new firetruck feeling to me (albeit one that came minus a steering wheel and 1 tire)

I don't do any one of anything long enough for the repetition to set in. Hopefully by the time I start to lose interest in wandering around, crafting, leves, etc completely they will have a good portion of the problems ironed out and I can get serious about leveling my archer.

Its been a mixed bag for me. I do tend to have fun when I'm duoing, or grouping. I love when I get to use my debuffs/buffs in combat, getting the full use out of my classes. Then I see that my SP gain is terrible, and I have to go back to alternating spirit dart and cure (sometimes sacrifice to feel I'm doing something different). About there's when get bored and log out for a week.

I'm having fun, but I got into the crafting/gathering game so that's really what I've been doing right now.

Have to see in the future, but yes I'm hoping for game changes and more content.

The game literally feels like a second job to me. The leves are repetitive and boring after you've done them all once, but you need the experience and money that they provide so you go through the motions. Just like a job, the leve timer resets (i.e. your shift) and you sign in to repeat the process until your brain melts and drains out through your ears. There's no interesting mini-quests with cut-scenes handed out by random NPCs by the hundreds like there were in FFXI. There's no interesting party dynamics to make battles fresh when you switch jobs. At least in my experience, you party up for a leve - everyone silently mashes as many attacks as they can get in before the mob dies (regardless of job), and then when the leves run out they split. I'd take defined group roles and conversation over this any day.

I can see how someone could enjoy the game if they're crazy about crafting and/or have a group of friends to play with. Personally I'm only still playing because I want to complete the main story and its free for another month. We'll see what SE can do with the game in that time period.

I logged in once in the last two weeks for about a half hour. Been too distracted/uninterested. Hitting LNC14 made leveling plateau for me, been really struggling to bother pushing it any further. I'd say no, it's not fun. Maybe the patch late November will change that, maybe not. I have my doubts based on how the game has been handled by SE so far.

having people I normaly game with leave is killing it for me. I can put up with the issues FFXIV currently have if I was playing with people I have fun with. They have given up on it and it looks like I will too at the end of this month. It's alright in a group. I think that is teh key to enjoying this game, for me anyway.

It's too much of a "When's the leve reset exactly?" "Gotta do boring thing X, Y, and Z, again in time..." for me to say I'm having much fun. And when you're putting 5+ hours a day into something by choice, and arguably not having fun, that's curious to say the least. Not something to continue long term.

Also, the fact that the people for whom I chose the server I did already quit... Isn't helping things.

I'm enjoying the game, as I can make more and more items and get stronger for my melee classes. I'm looking forward to the major update as well, really hope they can fix the UI lag issue. I'm sure I could enjoy the crafting system even more if we don't have to wait that long to start crafting (and after each synth).

I was a little upset when I saw that in order to make a rank 10 axe, I need to be rank 19 to make the axe head. But then later I read a post saying you don't HAVE to be that high rank in order to make that those high rank items for lower rank gears. So I was thinking to myself, what the heck and just give it a try. So after two failed attempt, I was able to make two axe head with my rank 12 blacksmith. So even tho crafting looked super complicated, when I could finally make something, it did make me feel good about all the hard work.

Sometimes i catch myself while screaming and ranting about some stupid things we all know about very well but i log on most every day and play some hours. I wouldn't really do this if this game had nothing to enjoy.

I'm not having as much fun as I did the first two weeks. I like the game, and there's no doubt it needs work, but I'm starting to question whether or not I want to spend the next 4... 5... 6(??)years of my life playing (and paying for) another MMO. I think it already is a very engaging game, and will only get better with time.
I started this character at the CE launch, and played for about 2 months. Haven't touched it since.

It's still fun for me, but I don't get on and spend hours upon hours in game every day, so I'm not tired yet of the content. I'll probably get to that point close to version update time, just in time for new content.

Thats how I feel too pretty much. I really wanted to like this game and get high level before the content was added, but it has become drudery just logging in. My friends dissapeared. Something in real life must of come up because they woulndt of quit without telling me, but its made it super boring. It feels like a single player mmo atm for me. Everytime I group it its a huge waste of time. Not sure what to do but I took a 5 day break. Im gonna try again tonight, but if I cant find some buffalo leather for sale to make the shiel I want to make, Im not sure I'll keep going...

OH. I start falling asleep when I do crafting / gathering leves. That's not helping

Alas,no it is not fun for me. I don't even want to log in tonight. When I'm crafting, I feel like I'm working in a sweatshop. There is not talking, nothing. All 4 of my linkshells are dead, everyone either has left or just not logging on. Doing Leves is just boring. I don't find any purpose to this game atm. I have a Conjurer 19; THM 10; and I'm physical rank 29 with Cloth @ 19; Gold @ 18 and the other crafts @ 10. Also, there are sooooo many broken things with this game that it makes playing it frustrating and a chore. I work 8 hours a day at a stressful job, I don't want to come home and play this and be frustrated even more. And what is just sitting in the back of my mind, is this TOTAL FAIL of a market ward system. If they don't fix that so it operates like an AH, i'm gone.

And I come home from a stressful day full of things going a mile a minute it feels like, and I enjoy the moment when I can sit down and go "Okay! Time for some fun!"

And I log in and I do a little of this and a little of that, and maybe I kill stuff and maybe I pretend to craft stuff or maybe I try and find that one drop spot I heard about with something or other that I think I probably want. And I end up on the other side of the map from where I intended at the start and end up logging off there in oh, about four hours from now.

I'm having a great time, honestly. So yes, very fun for me.

I like the laid back atmosphere myself. There's no rush to do anything in an enormous amount of time. I hope this game DOES NOT get too end-game heavy. This is more of an online community and I think it should stay that way instead of a "how fast can I get this done in the shortest amount of time." way of life.

Yep, definitely fun for me.

I must admit, I agree with the masses in that this game has some big problems. Some of these problems will need to be fixed in order for the game to really blossom. I consider the market wards to be so inefficient that I have yet to even use them. I also find the menu lag to be bothersome at times.

That said, I'm really enjoying the crafting system and the fact that crafting disciplines are actual jobs. I really enjoy the battle system, and the customization of playstyles available by leveling different jobs. I really love the organic feel of the game; how players are naturally encouraged to play on several jobs, rather than grind away on one. I'm hoping the market wards someday contribute to this organic feel, but for now, wasting tons of time shopping bazaars in the wards just doesn't sound like a fun way to spend my time, which is why I avoid them.

But yes, I'm having fun, and I can't wait for more questing/NM/activity content to be released.

No, I do not find this game fun. I merely hunt the forums looking for baited troll posts and flame wars. The tears, anguish, and pain of the player base sustains me.

No but really, I'm having a blast playing and look forward to the PS3 release for when my Japanese friends can play with me.

No I don't find this game fun.. In fact I find watching trailers of Guild Wars 2 more fun then playing this game...
Next time I will wait for meta score to finish average critic ratings.. and player ratings.. before a purchase a game like this :| 50/100 .. and meta critics are never wrong.. EVER!

On the bright side .. I still got one more free month of FFXIV :D .. maybe they will improve that game that drastically in oh I don't know 30 days?!??

best times I've had:

the first 48 hours when everything was fresh and new

Every time I get a new Storyline mission or Class quest to do

Spending 3 hours in a grind party, Killing Black efts and gaining 37000 sp

Killing Yarzons and floating eyes with a 6 man group and finally dinging 30 PGL.

Worst times:

spending an hour looking for gear in the market wards. had to log off 3 times out of frustration due to people not being able to understand that selling items in the correct wards helps everyone including themselves.

Over all there is tons of fun to be had and I look forward to the 30s with its increased amount of storyline missions and EXP parties. Now if I can only muster up some patience and go find a new weapon in the market wards of death.

really enjoying the game so far.
My ls has numerous people, most of them pretty active. I have sme frinds from gilgamesh on my server too.
We do leve, xp, team crafting together.
On my own I can level my craft, wander around mining (I wish there were more randomness to the mining points, so that I could explore more just wandering from 1 node to another ^^), make myself some shiny gear, help people around repairing their gear in a pinch... Solo xp is boring, but I usually don't do it except to farm shard in which case I'm farming, not xping, and I like the laid back atmosphere of farming.

All in all pretty enjoyable.

I don't mind the ward too much now that they have sorted it a bit (and especially since there is this "enter" shortcut now). I can find the mats I need decently well, and I don't buy much gear but craft it myself.
My own stuff sell decently well (I end up npcing a bit of it though, but thats not an issue)
My main grip is with the convulated/sluggish IU and the 20 "are you sure" confirmation for everything.

all in all I enjoy it pretty much and look forward to go back home after work everyday (and spend some times on those forum during workday too ^^)

There are so many things that this game did wrong and I am one you will see who loves to point out its many flaws.

That being said I am having fun. I love the combat system. And like the fact that I am not just playing with people in NA. there is just something about seeing JP chat pop up or any other language pop up when I am playing. I gess for me it adds to the fealing that this is a living world.

I find it fun
- The class system keeps me coming back to explore different ways to progress
- I seem to enjoy grinding guild marks and then buy skill from guild as reward
- Creating your own job from the stuff you unlocked with your classes already is kinda fun and I'm/we're not that far into the game yet.
- I love the interaction needed between various crafts to get new and rare items produced
- I love the main story so far
- I like the pacing of battle and recovering in between battles. So much more fun to me then FF11 ever could give.

But I also get frustrated
- UI design
- Lag
- Poor performance on expensive PC that normally runs games much smoother given the same or even better graphical quality.

Despite its flaws I still enjoy myself with the content currently available and am looking forward to what the game is going to deliver in future. So I'm here to stay for the ride. The extra free month of play to cover for the wait was a good strategy from SE to me as well. I see the free month we got from SE as extra time to learn the game hidden under its frustrations :)

So guess I'm now just a sucker who is now looking past the problems and can get a kick out of it and is going to pay the monthly fee when it arrives. Obviously can't recommend the game to anyone for now. Finding your way around and getting to enjoy aspects of the game that it does do right, all still requires too much frustration and time to overcome. It really isn't for everyone and can't expect people to pay for that at this time.

It was fun for me. But then i've spent every free moment playing this game. Now? Leves seem like a chore. If I want to get another ability from a different class, the sp gains seem herendious, compounded with a high Physical level, makes it hard to tell which lower level mobs to fight. I've tried grouping and its better, but since no one (NA) is really using the party funtion, its kinda limited to LS groups. I have three LS, they are mainly dead w/e i get one save a few people on vent. Fun? for the first month yes, now.....

Definitely having fun more than I'm not having fun/****** off.

Combat is interesting. It will get more interesting when actual party mechanics become a factor. I'll be interested to see what types of strategies start to develop at higher level. I also want to see these Battle Regimens be significant.

Crafting is actually semi-interesting. At least I have to DO something. I would have loved an EQ2 type system. But...this isn't EQ2.

Overall this game is fun for me. I like to space out my activities. I run a lot of places versus TPing all over. I do leves in multiple cities to mix it up a bit. And craft when I get a little burnt on the killing.

Now...Fix the **** game, SE.

I "BAM!" therefor I AM!
