What's missing? The Community Spirit!Follow

It just hit me what's missing in FFXIV.

I've been playing since open beta and CE realease. We have leves and story missions and guild missions.

But what's missing, compared to FFXI, is the community spirit. In FFXI we needed others to help us to get past the rank missions and other quests.

In FFXIV, with the focus on "casual" or "solo" play, we've lost the community interaction that made FFXi great.

The story missions are so far (I'm rank 22) soloable, and so far there no quests/missions I need help with.

Remember in FFXI , the mission to fight the Dragon. That required help. And other quests and missions that could not be done solo.

Gaining a higher level meant that I could could help others achieve their goals.

But at the moment, in FFXIV, however I grow, I cannot help others.

I miss that, if FFXIV missions and quests are going to be soloable all the way, a big chunk of what a loved about FFXI and what I expected from FFXIV has been lost.

How many friends did you make in FFXI while doing these quests and missions? That could even evolve into static parties for the harder missions, like CoP? And from that, joining great Linkshells.

I fear the new emphasis on casual play will ruin this.

I too am missing the social aspects of XI. The community in XI among my fellow bismarckians was a big reason why I couldn't wait for XIV to come out, hoping it would be the same. Sadly so far it's not been the case at all. I've had one "party" (random duo) otherwise people barely speak or respond and the only ones in the recruiting tool I find are Japanese (I need to step up my Kanji lessons so I can start reading more then just the Hiragana in the **** messages >.>;).

Really you don't need to party much or anything in FFXI unless you're doing some final missions for AMs or WoTG. The rest is just Abyssea and I just can't get myself to live with the fact that all there is now... is end-game.

What's missing is people actually playing the game.... When I get online I see usually around 1500 people online but 1495 of them are afk bazaaring.

Now a days yeah, but back in the day when I played you had to party after 13-14 unless you were a Bst just to level. That's what I miss, sure it could be grueling when you weren't a popular job for the level range (Drk 75, so technically I was never a popular party job on that class).

But it was far more fun then what I'm having here. I'm nearly 20, and all I can think of is that.. Dinging 20 in XIV on some random kill X of Y leve is not going to have anywhere near the same sense of accomplishment that dinging 20 in the middle of Qufim under the light weather did.

I've decided to not play a combat class at all in this game and just stick with crafting and gathering...and its a bit lonely.

No reason at all to ever party. Selling my wares does not involve me trying to sell them like a 'sells men' I just put them on my Retainer and send him out... I haven't spoken to another player in 2 weeks.

In FFXI I was super social and probably spoke to brand new people almost every day. For FFXIV I may as well be a mute.
