HQ and crafting...?Follow

I've crafted a few +1 items just while skilling up, mostly weaving, and haven't noticed any hard rules on getting a HQ versus a NQ. At first I thought it was higher quality gets you a HQ but it seems to be that the higher the durability is when you finish the better the odds are of HQ. I've finished an item with 465 quality (i used some +3 mats) and 27 durability and still got a NQ. I made the same item and finished with 85 durability and 17 quality and got a HQ +1.

I looked for threads about this in the previous pages but found nothing. Does anyone have some good info on getting HQ results?

Wish I could play the game, instead, the patch won't even initialize, just sits there staring at me....oh well, at least this month is free.

I believe that the general understanding of HQ vs. NQ right now is that increasing the Quality improves the CHANCE to get a HQ item it doesn't guarantee it. There aren't any hard numbers yet, but it seems to be the case.

That's my understanding of it as well. I've had HQ results with < 50 quality and I've had NQ results with > 300 quality. In terms of finished gear, using the Touch Up command seems to bump things up to HQ (or higher HQ than what it was) more frequently with higher quality, but nothing seems to produce a guarantee of any form of HQ.

I've always seen Touch Up as being another roll to HQ with each successive attempt increasing the percentage to HQ but also increasing the amount of Durability lost exponentially.

Whenever I get the Touch Up option, I either turn the NQ into a HQ on the first touch up or not at all. Like, if I have enough durability left for several Touch Up's, it doesn't matter how many times I do it, as long as the first Touch Up wasn't successful it never will be. That's how it seems to be for me anyway :\ But hey, higher quality is getting me more rank points, if a HQ comes along with it then woohoo! At least I can sell the +1's for something rather than just trashing it like the NQ's.

I've had several where I didn't get it to go from NQ to HQ until just before I was almost out of durability. I generally stop using Touch Up if it's got red sparks and I'm at or below 30 durability or there are no sparks and I'm at or below 15.
