So this morning I saw a JP player shouting about a halloween event taking place in north Limsa Lominsa so i decided to head to north LL and see what it was all about. There were 100 or more players just kinda hanging out and dancing together right below the Northern Islands so I hung out and danced for like 30 minutes or so. I was trying to figure out what we were actualy doing. Anyways after a while I started to check some of the players bazaars and several of them had food treats in their bazzar for like 1 gil or 10 gil each. So basicly we were all kind of trick or treating and dancing around and stuff. it was kind of fun and to my knowledge it was FFXIVs first ever holiday event (even if it was player made).

That sounds really nice.

I mean, sounds like it'd be fun for like 5 seconds, but really what a nice community.

That's interesting.

Halloween is not widely celebrated in Japan.

Hence their interpretation of celebrating it as "dancing in a field of rats."

On Gysahl, I remember I was fishing in Gridania when a whole LINE of people walked past me in a procession...I didn't get it on video, but that was a Halloween gathering of JP players :-)

There was probably a little more to it, they were all speaking in say and some of them were shouting but only occasionally would one of them throw in a word from the auto translator so I dont fully know what they were doing. It was kinda fun tho, outside of my LS it was the first real interaction I have had with more than like 15 people at a time in a blind eft grinding party.

I don't know why but i found this amusing. Not because they threw an event, but because if us Americans would have thrown the exact same event all **** would have broke loose.Wide spread candy looting, people not giving out candy having chicken and dodo eggs thrown at em.So ummm yeah ours prolly woulda been more fun.
