Has anyone noticed that certain mobs tend to give more SP than others?

I'm a rank 21 Gla and I've been fighting Opo-opos in Gridania, and when in LL, Aldgoat Nannies. The mobs generally con from decent to even match but I've been noticing a consistent 50-300 SP gain from Opo-opos. Unfortunately from the goats I have yet to actually get more than 100 SP, which leads me to ask the question above.

I've also noticed the same situation when I was soloing Syphird (sp?) swarms and Lead Coblyns north of Camp Horizon. I don't have statistics to prove the numbers but was wondering anyone else notice the same thing?

I notice that Roselets around Skull Valley seem to give more SP than any other mobs in the zone. I don't know if it's because they seem to have more HP than other mobs their rank = more hits = more skill points or if it's a function of weapon type vs. mob type, but I've never been disappointed by a decision to go slightly out of the way to cut down an angry flower.

Skeletons are a good example of this.
I'm convinced it's no coincidence they give more frequent and higher skill ups than some other mobs. Both Nanawa Mines and Tam-Tara Deepcroft Skeletons are awesome.

Agreed on this. Roselings have been some of the best SP mobs I've encountered. It's just too bad those two are the only ones there and others (thorned roselings near Bloodshore, roselets near Emerald Moss) share pops with other things that aren't nearly as useful.

On the other end, I've always had a hard time getting good SP from coblyns. They do have low HP so maybe that's part of it, but I've rarely been pleased with the skill gained from a coblyn fight.

The SP also seems to differ by class for some reason. The skeletons for example, melee classes love them as they get almost 500 sp each kill. As a conjurer, I get 0-100, with maybe 200-300 every fifth skeleton.

This is exactly why all the BOTS (whom are primarily CON) just sit in the Hoverfly Caves because they give incredible SP gains, dunno if it's just CON or not. Sad thing is I've reported the BOTs when they were rank 30 and the other day they were still in the same spot and were rank 38. They 3 shot the mobs now so I don't know how they are leveling but it's even more sad that they haven't been banned......

Maybe it is because some mobs are built for party and grouping, maybe with novembers update that will become more clear as to what mobs we can camp and grind on and what ones are more for solo?
