Suggestion for market wardsFollow

On the rare occasion I am capable of playing more then 1-2 hours a day, I am not planning on spending them scouring the marketwards for an item that I need to improve my gear.
Honestly, I'd KILL for a method other then retainer 'hopping' to have a chance to find that specific item I want. In general, I'm talking about lances and pieces of armor that don't get made a lot like handguards etc.

I'm well aware that some pieces of armor aren't just that rewarding to make/sell because of all the extra materials required from different jobs or the simple fact that the items required are near unobtainable yet which reduces people to making the easy accessable gear.

So, why not make use of the billboards in the middle of the market wards, that actually have papers on it (presumably fictional requests) and let me request that single piece of armor that I'm hunting the market wards for with my char info and offered amount of gil. That way, crafters specifically know what the community wants and have a 100% chance of selling the item.

Good suggestion, but I doubt it will be heard in this section. You should probably try posting it here.

This will prolly get moved to the feedback forum.

But this is actually an interesting idea. Sort of a reverse AH? First we would need a mail system. Say I'm looking for a pair of brass knuckles, I can go to this Bulletin Board and post a request and offer an ammount, which goldsmiths will see when they check and send it CoD to my mail.

Yep, reverse AH idea exactly,

Pretty much, my idea is that someone can take the request of the board (which results in the request taken off the board), make the item (or simply deliver it when he/she already has it) and then deliver to an npc next to the billboard who gives him/her the gil in trade for the item and request paper, so the player to come pick it up.

If we do get a mailing system, then sending it would be even better.

Wow man, this is a great idea. I doubt SE will implement it as they don't ever do listen to great ideas, but way to go.

You mean something like you go to the billboard, post an item request, set a reward for it, and then a crafter can come up, take it up, and he'd automatically get the reward and you'd get the item upon checking on it?

On a second thought, this is similar to the "seeking" option of retainers; although this was implemented horribly as you NEED the item you are seeking in order to ask for it.
Not to mention that you need to browse through a gazillion retainers.

SE will probably just add "seeking" into the retainer search system and make you individually look for them one by one.

I'd really like to see for SE to do something with that billboard though... it looks so convenient.

I'm not sure if it's similar to the seeking in your retainer, but I have yet to find out how to seek an item that I don't have. If it is possible, please do tell me!

And yep, that's the basic idea, this will most likely allure crafters into making pieces of equipment that aren't so common.

Something simple I was thinking about was just raising the tax on people selling crap in the wrong ward, but use some sort of sliding scale. For instance if body armor is being sold in the alchemy ward it's subject to a 50% tax, but leather stuff would only be a 15% tax. Obviously alchemy stuff would still be 2%.

Drives me absolutely batty that I cannot put my weapons into the battlecraft ward because its always full. Get your **** out of my ward!!!

And that is another thing that annoys me.. Higher taxes will definitely solve this yes.

But then again, SE will have to be more clear on "what goes where" (because that still puzzles me sometime) and allowing us to have more retainers (since all the stuff we want to sell might not fit in the same ward).

You know what they need to do? First, add more retianers. Then? Not tax it higher... charge. If you are going to put an item up on the wrong ward, pay a % of the price.

That will be the only way to make this work.

EVE Online does this. They are called buy orders. You put up an order to purchase X item in Y quantity for C/unit, so 10 Axes for 12k/axe. Sales at that location go to the highest buy order until it's filled. It works really really well.

EVE Online has about the best economy system in any game I have EVER seen. Heck, they have an entire skill tree dedicated to trading.

Ah right, didn't know this.

Looks like it will work then, dunno if SE will want to 'copy' something used in a different game though.

On the off chance someone from SE is reading this put me in the He!! ya column for a 'bulletin board ward'. That would work so well with what SE is trying to accomplish here (with the crafter driven economy)

Exactly my thoughts.
Hopefully they'll think of it themselves though.
