Yesterday while doing the 1st tasks of the fishing leves in the black shroud i saw what i thought was a gigantic spider going up and down in the trees east of the lake.I stopped and watched it for 3 minutes it was a big balloon like the chocobo guy has outside of town it couldn't land in the trees.I was in grid 17x15 looking east over the lake Day 31 around 18:00 O~clock.

Yes there are airships in this game. The thing is that we are playing in under developed cities. I mean, the video for the opening with the airships fighting the dragons is actually happening now. You can even see the giant ship crashed in a zone north of Ul'dah.

All I know of is that there are platforms around the rank 10 camps for airships, but we cannot use them yet.

I've seen them flying overhead before, but I never noted the time or location. It'd be interesting if the community could come up with future airship departure and arrival times based on these sightings.

According to a friend, the R46 (Or was it 44?) story quest involves an airship.

In limsa near skull valley, there is a kind of building in the field that will probably be used to board airship. Theres was even a airship sign on the building that looked like a airship with a ballon, dunno what its called in english. I even saw a airship flying near limsa. Il post the location of that building when i get home. But i think it was 19,21 but im unsure. Il post correct info later

I saw one through the trees in Gridania. Very orange and glowy.

The truth is out there.

There are airships flying overhead in pretty much every zone. They're easier to see over La Noscea and Thanalan, of course, but they're there. Most people don't notice them that often because mobs and harvesting nodes aren't in the sky so they don't look up.

Really? Would that be Mor Dhona? I've yet to see the ship, and I've explored a lot of Ul'dah but haven't really had the opportunity (or the survivability) to explore much of that area yet. Let me know where to find it as I'm a sucker for sight seeing!

I think bartlit is talking about the dragon and the huge war ship from the intro.FF11 air ships was cool what i saw was something any of us FF players can make our backyards ,I wouldn't pay 2Gil to fly in a cheap airship balloon in a world full of monsters SE must really want us players to die...(From airship crashes)

Actually, the battle we saw during the opening cinematic happened ~10 years ago, as the Midlander in the movie was experiencing a scene from the past - the Echo ability that all adventurers seem to possess. If you also notice during the cinematic, when the ship crashes, avatars/primals go flying out of it, which makes sense as well, since it was 10 years ago that the Primals first appeared and the beast tribes started causing trouble.

It is nigh on ten years since the fearsome beings known as the primals first appeared in these lands. Ten years since they were summoned forth by the destructive ambition of the beast tribes. Ten years, and still those tribes, drunk on the power granted them by the primals, continue to wreak havoc upon the free peoples of Eorzea.

10 years ago is also when the Garlean Empire ceased their advance into Eorzea after taking Ala Mhigo. We're not told why they stopped, but I'm guessing the assault of one of their giant battleships from the dragon (god/Bahamut?) was the likely cause.

I've run into an airship port in Gridina as well,
in the back of the pub there are stairs going down to the dock (npcs gave some lame excuse for lack of airship)
