If SE actually started accepting player questions for the next "Ask the Devs" (not going to happen anytime soon judging from the most recent installment, "How Do I Click On Stuff?"), what one question would you ask?

Mine: Just how broken are stats at the moment?

And mine will be:

How does the SP really work, for CON and THM in particular.

Every other job seems to have a better handle on receiving SP: All DoL, DoH can expect a consistent SP out put given the appropriate level and things worked on at hands.

Most DoW jobs that I know seems quite consistent in average SP gains; they won't go out grind for a few hours and come back with bitter taste in their mouth.

Most other CON including myself and the THM I know, always go out grinding hoping for the best, and ready for the worst. No time during my play time since CE started, have I ever out-gained SP from a DoW.

So, tell me devs, what I am doing wrong?

When will casual events be added?

ex. Garrison, chocobo racing, eco-warrior, those type of events, etc.

I honestly would like to know their long-term and intended plans for the economy and the value of gil.

With more than a significant number of people walking around with eight-figure incomes and low-level goods and raw material drops/harvests being beyond worthless, where are they going with this player-driven economy?

What's up with ishgard? IT's a quest would o as an answer tbh... What is up with positioning? Archer need a certain range for accuracy? different sides better for some classes outside incapacitation? The real effects of stats on gear(I suppose i could keep figuring it out but why not have an SE reference) Why aren't there any toilets?

When can we expect basic features that should have already been available ex. Player Housing,Mail Service,Map Markers,Away Messages,Item Sorting,Equip Item Sorting(if you are equip Head piece only list head piece items, to be implemented?

If you are avoiding adding an auction house, how do you plan to organize the swap meet down in the wards to make it feasable to actually find the items we're looking for?

add relic weapons that will take the average joe 4 years to get, then make them obsolete in a future expansion.

"Any chance we can have a UI that doesn't rely so heavily on server traffic so we can actually get it up to speed?"

"Will there ever be an update to the equip system so it displays the stats you'll ACTUALLY get from equipping gear outside your rank level or favor, as opposed to the base stats on it?"

"Are there any plans to make boat journeys more interesting? Either with pirates, monster spawns or mini quests?"

"Will there ever be a sneak or invisible spell for sneaking past enemies?"

"When will you fix leves so they don't send you past level 30+ monsters at rank 10?"

Do you plan on inserting anything to give the classes a better identity, I mean flexibility is great but only to a point. Class specific armor, a clearer slot for each class to fill, i mean really the difference between any of the DoW are marginal at best laughable at worst.

On a serious note, I give +1 to the side quests. It would be really nice to have other things to do and build the story a bit outward instead of one linear quest. As I was playing through a buddy's account I couldn't help but ask myself when I wandered around town "The **** do I want to save these people for?" No personality. No charisma. No life.

Are there plans to move away from server-side authentication to speed up button click response or are you sticking with this system and trying to tweak and improve it to remedy this issue?

Oh man, I have so many questions....but a few will suffice for now!

- Why did you implement mob regen if its moved an inch from its spawn area? <-- this one bothers me, since my main is archer.
- Why is it sometimes after a leve I'm asked by the aetheryte if I want to teleport back to camp, I say yes, I see the animation, but then the aetheryte disappears and I'm still left standing there while my whole pt gets sent back to camp?"

- Why (oh god why) do goats follow you across the map before losing interest? <-- I was chased down by a goat from Camp Drybone to Camp Horizon before it gave up, or I died, I can't remember, I was too *******

- Why do I see unstable lightning elements in my synth when I'm synthing lumber that only required wind shards?

- Can you please remove the TP move "Impish Incantations" from every **** imp in every leve? please...?


I realize that most of these are bugs, but seriously this **** is getting old really quick. I basically can't solo as an archer post 24 reliably since every mob I fight decides to do a 360 spin and fully regen itself, even if I'm basically humping the thing and miss 75% of my shots. *grumble*

Oh btw, has anyone ever see the mysterious running wight during that horizon 20 leve? I had one take off on me and never come back, failed the leve because it was the last rusted sword I was after ; ;

When are you planning to streamline the log in and log out processes? (why is there still no shutdown item in the menu to immediately exit the game, and why do I have to click 5 windows to get to the character log in screen)

I ask this because the amount of time and clicks it took to get into FFXI through POL were a source of complaint for many years. They promised to fix it with this game, but I don't think they really have.


EDIT: Another one I have been wondering:

Where do the questions from Ask the Devs come from?

I think I'd probably ask that.

When will you fix the run away regen bug on mobs?

Why dont Battle Regimens launch all attacks when done correctly? Many times players will queue attacks only to have all party members flash as if its gonna work but then only one attack launches while others do not?

Why not make Sp gain on every melee or offensive attack? Often times even melee players can attack "yellow" mobs and win only to obtain no sp.

When will all the small townships and Ishgard open up to players?

When will you fix the 0 stamina on first attack issue?

When....well you said one question right?

A question is something like "What does 'craftsmanship/m.craftsmanship/control' actually do?"

Venting frustration in the form of a question looks something like "When can we expect basic service such as mail service?"


There is a feedback forum for telling SE what is wrong with the game. I would recommend that if the opportunity ever came up to not waste questions. A suggestion in the form of a question won't do anyone any good and we would miss out on the chance of actually finding out some needed information about game mechanics.

Can you expect any less? It seems like 'this is how you read the map; this is how you begin a leve quest' are passive-aggressive shots at the playerbase! Except not so passive.

I am sure they are questions, you just don't like them.


Some Questions :
What plans do you have in the future for adding quests. Will you add more traditional quests like seen in FFXI, or will quests stay like leves.

How will the UI be fixed so that responsiveness is not dependent on the users internet connection.

Many people speculate that there might or might not be an auction house; can you give us details on when, if ever, an auction house might
be implemented.

As a computer scientist / software engineer would you be willing to release information on technical problems you have had and how you
have solved them, such as UI interface issues, network load, database management, synchronization, design considerations, etc...

- what do elemental resistances do?
- Why doesn't dexterity seem to have much effect on accuracy?
- why are food stats invisible?
- when do you plan on fixing SP?
- Why can't DoW/DoM have a base SP for defeating an enemy + SP for actions taken?
- Why does my Conjurer get 0 SP when soloing green and yellow mobs?
- do you really think it is fail to penalize DoM for casting spells (long cast time + medium-high resist rate + random SP = DoM get screwed)

i would ask them about retainers , how come we cant access retainer from multi character on the account?!?! i thought it was going to be this way since we dont have a mailing system and we get charge $1 per retainer we add (at a max of 7 retainer , 6 if you lvling 2 character)

My question: "When can we expect to get more diverse content?"

My REAL question: "Who in the world gave the green light to release such an incomplete game...are they fired yet?"

Why are so many game mechanics that worked well in FFXI not working in FFXIV (such as facing the target, exp distribution, quick user interface menus, monsters not running away and auto-healing just because you are on a hill)?
