I was accused in my previous thread that i was bashing and not helping to make final fantasy a better game.

So please list what is good in the game now and show the community that does not play XIV
what they can look forward to ill start...

I like the way the SE lets you customize your character so that no player looks a like next>>>

I like the improved quality of the cutscenes that the game has over Final Fantasy XI. XI used existing in-game graphics for cutscenes. XIV uses motion capture for the serious stuff.

I like the dedication and time it takes to level. I enjoy being able to progress in smaller parties or even solo. I like how I am always close to attaining the next rank or level in one of my jobs.

Nothing. I am now dumber for having buying the CE of FFXIV.

But to each their own. =)

i like the difference in physical level and job rank. in ffxi i didn't get high enough to obtain the little added attributes at 75, so if i switched jobs it was right back to square 1 possibly with way better gear. in this i am level 20, playing a new job with maxed stats is awesome! changing around my attributes is nice too. not getting hate for being a taru tank.

I like the Lodestone community site. Its way better than the Linkshell community site from FFXI. Also, having crafting tools and subs make sense for the item is pretty cool.

also using primary and secondary tools, you have more control over your hq result (i.e. plus items or higher quanity)

Hmmm there is so much I like! Yes, there is lag sometimes, and yes it needs tweaking but one of the most important things to me are a mature player base (which most other MMO's do NOT have i.e. shout chat in most any zone in WOW), the deatil on the armor and game is amazing, Leves are a great idea, Partying is actually VERY fun provided people know thier jobs. I also like the local leves to help offset the price of crafting. Also, I think that a large amount of the population on servers going down is that the game being challenging and not a "hand holding" experience is weeding out all the curious WOW players and the like. WHat we get at the end is a devoted player base who is mature and enjoys challenge.

I like the crafting system! I've tried crafting in other MMO's but became bored of it quickly. It was just stack mats for # of item you wanted to make and click "GO" and afk while the craftign was in action. In FFXIV while much slower, I have control over the quality of the item. I'm engaged and making it.

I like being able to mix and match skills from different classes

I love that if I only have two hours to play, I can be productive during that entire two hours and not have to burn half of it just looking for a party. And I can spend that time doing whatever I want to do... guild leves, killing random mobs, crafting, exploring... hopefully killing NMs soon.

I also enjoy the crafting element of this game. I already have three crafts above level 10, which is way more than I ever had when I started playing FFXI. The thing that sets FFXIV's crafting apart (as another poster noted) is that getting started in crafting doesn't require a gigantic investment in gil. You can just do guild leves. I also love it that you always get points for synths... that's a huge improvement over the randomness in FFXI.

The list goes on, but I'll leave it there for now.

I like that you can mix and match skills from other jobs to customize your character but I LOVE that ,with guildmarks, you can double the potency of your own class skills. I was worried that there was not going to be a "reward" for focusing on one class but it looks like SE did a good balancing job.

I simply enjoy the FF online community and the social aspect of MMO games in general. I also enjoy spending money on stuff I really don't need, and this is a cheap way to do that at least once a month. xD

It's pretty, no denying that. Limsa Lominsa is a very striking city when you first see it. I like some of the ideas they had for things - flexible classes for instance, the attempt to make crafting more involved and interesting. It's just difficult to really say solidly "I like this, or I that" because the implementation of almost everything was just botched from the ground up, even the good things are hard to like because they never reached their potential.

I guess the only thing I can say solidly I like is that it's FF, XI was not only my first MMO of any significance - it's also where I met the love of my life. So in a way, even with all the issues the game has, it kind of felt like coming home.

FFXI is the gold standard in MMORPG's to me. FFXI with better graphics and a new story would have been great. The barebone release of FFXIV is better than FFXI and has HUGE potential for the future. I have played a few MMORPG's from the beginning so I was fully aware that the game would be stripped down and would need alot of gameplay mechanic adjustments. You would be crazy to allow those small things push you away from such a good game. I can't understand all the whiners who complain the game isn't perfect so it sucks. I am overjoyed that I can play from the beginning and contribute to the development of FFXIV.

This.
Rather than clicking "Create All" button and going afk for 5 mins for the 200 copper bars, the crafting system in this game actually doesn't get me bored. Especially when you're trying some high level syn, you have to be really careful about when to use your abilities.

I spend most of my time running around leveling all the jobs to get and test skills for my build. funny part is I planned to be CON, level THM for its ability and ended up liking THM better so that was my main, then leveled Gla for a switch and then it became my main...
Now evey job is over 10 except for archer... and Im having a ball.
Next up? lancer to 20 for feint then back to Gla

- Ability to wear what I want just for looks (eg. conjurer able to put on chain/plate armor, there isn't some divine force that stops you from putting it on just because)
- Ability to do ALL professions crafting and otherwise - cure to altaholics like me, now I play 1 character not 10.
- Crafting is actually a cool minigame of its own after Rank15+. Generally can afkgrind it to that level but after then it seems to get a whole lot tougher that you have to pay attention.
- Being able to go to a camp to ask if anyone wants to party and almost instantly get one or two replies.
- Exploring the gorgeously designed areas. Yes we know there's rehashed textures but they have still done a fantastic job of keeping things unique and fresh. First entry to cassiopia was breathtaking, exploring caves that I randomly encountered in Thanalan was quite refreshing and there's more "wow" moments where I've just been amazed by the game's scenery.
- Being in multiple guilds (linkshells) at once so you're not guild hopping to find the right one and have yet to see any drama.
- The communication from SE. I love "Ask the Devs"! regardless of what the trolling ingrates say.
- The original storyline - I'm from Gridania and really digging the story that's been developing through my character's development. All the characters have interesting personalities and the cutscenes are just superb.

I could keep going all day but I think its getting TL;DR already so I'll let others fill the rest :D

One of the things I liked the most was the shared points for the DoLs. No need to rush to beat someone too it or have them "ninja" your point.

Disclaimer: It is not my intent to start any controversy or see a flame war sprout from the following post. The following is expressly my opinion and not necessarily fact or the opinion of others.

I like the fact that they released the game when they said they were going to. I played the whole time in the open beta, and I knew there were a mess of problems, but I was ready to play.

SE was in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation with the launch of this game. I can only imagine some of the threads/posts that would've followed an announcement that they pushed back the release.

It's an unfortunate fact, but I work in retail. I know from experience that people are more likely to voice their opinion if they have a complaint. My point is, despite all of the negativity you see on these and other forums, there are far more people that are perfectly happy playing right now. I for one would've been super-mega-****** if they pushed back the release.

I remember saying "If they push this release back, I'm getting some money back for my CE pre-order. That's $75.00. Hypothetical situation: They, albeit reluctantly, refund even 1/2 of my pre-order because now I have to wait another 2? 3? months to play a game I was promised on Sept. 22. $37.00 is 3 months worth of subscription fees. The game has been out now for almost 6 weeks, and I'm considering a career change that would not afford me much opportunity to play. "Hey gamestop, never mind, cancel my pre-order and give me a full refund." There goes all of those monthly fees.

That's not how it happened though. I got my pre-order, and I'm enjoying playing in spite of all of the difficulties. Plus I got 2 free months! I've seen a lot of people say "We're playing the beta." I'm fine with that, as long as they let me keep my progress! I'll admit, I'm putting a lot of hope in the November and December updates. The pressure is on SE to make them count, because next month, they will have paying customers.

Considering my current situation, I very well may have decided not to join FFXIV if the game wasn't released yet. Now I'm looking for a feasible way to bring it on the road with me in the event I do change jobs. By the way, I may be posting from a laptop in a tractor trailer by early spring. Might be fun, ding rank 50 fisher in Houston, TX. Start grinding alchemy again in Orlando, FL, then do some conjurer leves in Nebraska... oh wait, 3G probably doesn't work in BFE.

I digress. I'll venture to say that most if not all of us here on ZAM are MMO lovers. For whatever reason we are drawn to the experience. I like the fact that SE stuck to their guns and released this game when they said they were going to. If they delayed it, I probably wouldn't be playing.

What you want an even longer post? I could do a 30 page thesis on why people are drawn to MMOs and why I like FFXIV. How about "The Psychology of MMOs", or "FFXIV: The new crack."

I like to back up my opinion and explain the thought process by which I arrived at that conclusion.

I also like to write. xD When I realize I've been going for a while I'll re-read and try to bring it back to my point.

I haven't played since beta (waiting for PS3 version), but I love the nearly seamless environments. No apparent zoning unless you Teleport/Return.

Also, after starting phases 2 & 3 in Limsa Lominsa, I ran from LL to Gridania in open beta. The music in Thanalan struck me as melancholy, but it fit. It also reminded me somewhat of Gustaberg in FFXI.
