what is the deal with....Follow

crafting +1 +2 and so on items, it just baffles me, there seems to be no consistency in the durability and quality of the items as demonstrated in these pictures:

some have high quality and low durability and they become +1, yet others have had high quality and high durability and had no +1 or +2 added, befor ive had 70 quality and 50 durability and its become a +1, this is really confusing me, is there some sort of specific way to make + stuff that im not seeing or is it just pure randomness and luck.

does nobody know? or is there really no logical explanation for the the way crafting gives its scores? normally when i post on this forum the question is answered within a minute of posting.

i seriously think no one knows . . .

every system in this game is more complicated than rocket science it seems.

You may be looking for this longer than if you went to search for the elusive holy grail . . .

or even the sanity of the dev team . . . i think it was lost with XI

It appears to be very random. I've had stuff w/ 50 quality that has HQ'd. On those attempts I've noticed that when the synth seems to be harder to complete (more fails), it will HQ. I've also had attempts at over 500 quality without an HQ at all.

I've heard that the HQ's are tiered (100-200 is +1, 200-300 +2, 300+ is +3) but I'm not sure if that is just theory. Just another ridiculously random and unnecessary obstacle for crafters.

I think its just chance, the higher the quality the greater the chance of an HQ. Which is why I can HQ at 60 and not at 200+. Doesn't mean there will be one just a bigger chance. Of course this is just my opinion I have no facts to back it up. Truth is no one really knows.

This is my take on it. I'm probably completely wrong, so take it with a grain of salt.

When trying to HQ stuff like straps, ingots, etc, who don't let you touch up, higher quality is pretty much the way to go for HQ2, 3 or 4. I have never gotten HQ1 with 200+ quality, and I have never had HQ2 with 50- quality, for example.

The chance to get a HQ seems to be 5 to 10%ish to me for the instant. If it procs, then the quality determines the level of HQ.

For finished items you can Touch Up, it seems to work pretty different. You still have a 5-10% chance of getting HQ at the end of a craft. Then every touch up actually can increase the + of the item (probably about 5-10% chance of proccing a +1 per touch up). So let's say you end with 100 quality, 80 durability and a lucky natural HQ, you have about 5-6 touch ups to try to get it to +2 or even +3.

If you end with 200+ quality, you'll sometime naturally get a +2 and you can attempt to +3 it.

My limited experience with with quality so far (3 crafts to lvl 15 and 2 to lvl 10 is all) is that HQ is random regardless of your quality. Meaning there is no guaranteed HQ (at least not into the 400-500 quality range) However when I hoard up +2 and +3 mats so I can do multiple high quality synths at a time I am finding that the percentage of HQ seems to go up with quality (as in you will see more +1,2,3 synths in volume as your quality numbers raise)
