Near Camp Blue Fog

Has anyone gotten up close and personal with them? Seen them feature in a quest or storyline? I am curious. They look way more industrial than the usual Eorzean fare.

I am doubtful they have to do with Ishgard given that they are in the Uldah region, not in Coerthas. Could be... who knows?

They kind of look like the flying machines in the opening cinematic.

oh wow if they have a more industrial/future-type area I will be working my *** there!

For now though they just seem like refineries or silos

A close up photo, this gate is right near cutter's pass. Can't get any closer though.

So the blue fog is actually industrial pollution? How can we allow that to continue?

I agree they look like the flying machines from the opening cinematic. I think you can tell by those "wheel" looking things on them.

Gonna toss out some idle speculation here...

From speaking to the NPCs in the Mor Dhona area, we learn that the Empire has come back to Mor Dhona, doing some kind of survey/research, etc. They're more than likely looking into the Keeper of the Lake, a.k.a. their fallen battleship, but they may also be there to collect aetheryte as well, since aetheryite/crystals in general seem to be a pretty powerful commodity to have your hands on, and Mor Dhona is covered with the stuff.

It could be that this area is a processing plant of some kind, since it's so close to the Mor Dhona area, and kinda in the middle of nowhere. The Empire could be processing aetheryite/crystals there to power their machinery or for some other purpose.

/end idle speculation

Or... they could just be refineries. They're set in the desert region of Ul'dah on largely rocky areas. It would make sense that they were either mines or refineries for the various minerals and ore in the region.

At least, that's my theory.

I think you are on the right track - this simply doesn't look like technology we see at all in the three main cities. Let's face it - Eorzeans are primitives compared to the empire.
