I was adventuring with a few friends trying different areas for our rank 23-28 party (5 man) after exploring Coerthas we decided to fight ants in copper bell mines. We were averaging ~200 SP a kill/member on ants fights were fast but one of our 2 Conj had to go afk, so I changed from my 27 lancer to my level 11 Thurm. Needless to say we lost our SP bonus but still members were averaging ~200 SP/kill. I myself was getting vastly reduced SP per fight over all, ~80 SP a fight. but every once in a while I'd get the 150-300 SP.
I attribute my lesser SP gain due to be extremely lower level than the mobs. my attacks were doing ~10 dmg a hit. but my heals were gaining 30-80 SP a proc.
Has anyone else experimented with a rank gap of greater than 5 while in party and determined just how powerful the "SP party bonus" is?
SP bonus ≠ more SP fight ( >500 SP/fight)
SP bonus is either :
more SP/hit (cap 500 /fight)
increased chance of SP proc (cap 500 /fight)
I have a sneaking suspicion that the SP bonus is geared toward parties fighting monsters similar to their own rank or just above. i.e. Fast fights grant increased rates of SP but less SP/fight. Fighting in large parties vs monsters that are far above the players rank range grant many people near cap or max SP/fight due to the fact that the fights tend to last longer.
