With the release of the latest Ask the Devs, I have finally completed the following table which displays the experience and rank points needed per level, as well as stat and element points bestowed with each physical level up. The experience and rank points have been collected from random views of characters' profiles in the Lodestone, and had been completed for some time now, but I was unable to finish gathering the stat and element points that quickly, as whatever I could gather were mainly done so while playing the game and noticing other characters' level ups. So thanks to SE, here is the final list:

Level	Experience Points Rank Points Stat Points	Element Points
  1 2,700 570 - -

Holy crap, that means it takes the same amount of experience (roughly) to get from Phys Level 1-39 as it does from 40-50

1-39 = 3,433,400

40-49 = 3,180,000 (plus the unknown 50 amount)

I've got a long road ahead of me.

Given the accepted average of 10k SP/HR, this is around 185 hours of nothing but grinding to reach R50.

FFXI required 235,550 to reach level 50 with an accepted early year's average of 3k XP/HR. That is around 79 hours of nothing but grinding to reach L50.

Level 50 is ??? because it is the amount needed to raise your physical or rank level from 50 to 51. I know there is a specific number based on a screenshot of a level 50 I saw, but I have decided not to include it until the level cap is raised, so as not to tamper with the total xp. This, after all, was compiled in an Excel spreadsheet.

Yeah... this is harsh... add in the ludicrous rate of degradation for weapons and the totally random sp gain once you hit 20+ solo this will be **** near impossible for the people who don't look for grind parties.

not to mention fatigue.

oof... and that will be horrible for crafters too. 100,000 sp worth of shards crystals and materials...

To be fair, in FFXIV grinding includes leves which also is a good source of gil. You also get a bonus to your SP. Ofcourse leves are nothing to parade about since you'll have to travel to other cities in order to do all 8 that you are allowed per 36 hour period. Nevertheless, leves are a good source of income so whatever time you would have spent in FFXI farming items for gil, you could spend in SP groups in FFXIV =P

Also, you could spend hours LFG in FFXI since exp groups required certain classes. FFXIV does not have nearly as significant of a requirement with group members.

Your numbers, if accurate, which I'm sure they are, put things in perspective and I have no idea how I could ever manage to get to rnk 50, lol. But FFXI was no walk in the park either, however, I had a much more play time at my disposal and to my knowledge, I thought this game was supposed to be more "casual" friendly.

Yes, in trying to balance XIV's hours to cap, I'm sure they modeled it after XI and factored in a lot of time for lost XP on death and the necessity of forming cookie cutter PT's. Unfortunately for them, most people learned to form statics and play very cautiously, so they overshot it by a mile or two. More likely this is another calculated roadblock to keep people from reaching cap, and they have every intention of paring it down considerably in coming months.

I am pretty happy just moving up the ranks slowly - what this shows me is that getting to cap isn't a race. A game being good for casual players doesn't mean that you get to cap in a month it means that there is lots of bite size content that you can do in an hour. And, for the record, I often go home at lunch and do a leve or two. I get experience points and money and sometimes items. That is what a causal game is. People who play less are going to take a long time to get to cap, but who cares? I never got to cap in FFXI and it didn't stop me from enjoying the game for more than two years.

When it comes to sitting around not doing anything for long periods of time, only being active for short windows, and marginal changes and sidegrades I'd say FFXI players were the perfect choice for politicians.
