Say something nice about XIV

1 - I'm no longer playing it
2 - It's leading the way in a corporate crash-and-burn saga that just keeps getting better.
3 - The character/monster graphics are as always, top notch.

1- If you were lucky enough to pick up a buddy pass and you like to play, it's still free!
2- I can't think of anything else...
3- Still thinking...

It has great potential.

I just hope that they add something better then crafting and leves.

But the gameplay is nice in all aspects except battle regamine and lack of mailbox to mail stuff to alts.

  • It looks amazing. Graphics, effects, animations etc
  • I love being able to level my crafting without having to farm/use my own materials. =)
  • The ability to mix and match dif class skills (tho I see this being a negative later on down the road. Everyone will pretty much be exaclty the same)
  • The journal that came with my CE is really nice. =)
  • The buddy pass being a code for a full retail copy was REALLY nice.
  • Didn't need multiple keys to install to multiple pcs. Just for creating multiple accounts
  • gave me an excuse to build a new pc hehe
  • being able to use anima evey now and then to teleport rather then running everywhere all of the time is a plus
  • gil is extremely easy to get (also a negative tho because it just drives prices up)
  • taru....errrr....lalas nolonger hump my leg everywhere I go every second of the day. =P

    1)Ease of changing classes
    2) keeping your physical level when changing classes
3)not a bunch of blinding dazzle on abilities, though it could use a tiiiiny bit more
    4) the way the pugilist looked in the Gridania storyline, even though I can not find that head piece anywhere

I could go on but from here on out it is a double edged sword

Graphics are gorgeous even tho it could be better optimized.

Some of the monsters look really good , some look really cute, some look really strong.

I liked how they brought over the same races from FFXI but kinda wish they left the names of them alone.

I like the art style of the cities although I wish they had a bit more to them like Sandoria did , Windy and Bastok did.

Oh music is better than Windy music, oh and forgot i agree with OP weather effect is awesome, Ulduah you get in the middle of a big sand storm you can barely see 4 feet. and I love how there are varying levels of weather effects like ( again using Ulduah as an example) there as small sand gusts to full blown sand storms, simply amazing

The graphics are seriously a quality piece of work. If you go into first person view in Gridania at night and look up, you'll see that the branches above are lit up by the lights on the ground. Looking up at any time in the Gridania areas, it's amazing how huge the trees are that cover the sky. There's lots to look at, the attention to detail is very impressive.

Admiring the graphics is probably what I enjoy the most about FFXIV right now. Now if SE could add a real game to the package all would be well.

Your definition of pathetic is skewed. Pathetic: The fact that you even looked at this thread means you care about the game on some level, or do you just enjoy reading the backlash of people willing to sink to your intelligence level? I have a clue for you, get a new hobby.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm a long time FF fan. There are probably other MMOs out there that I'd enjoy, but I'm a creature of comfort, and I'm loyal to this franchise. If that means I go down with a sinking ship, so be it. I like having a game that I can play over months and years at a time. There are very few console games that have re-playability that make them worth the money to me.

Oh, I never thought I'd enjoy fishing in a MMO. Their system is a fun addition to "non-game multitasking" that doesn't take much attention.

    I like..

How easy it is to make money, no matter what you do.
Soloing actually yields things of high value, unlike XI.
As a Pugilist, the battles are entirely fun and involved. Can't say much for the rest lol.
When you level up sub-classes, many different avenues of capability open up.
The large array of abilities you can swap in and out of on the fly.
The ability to change my job class whenever I feel like it.
The ability to change my attributed stats whenever I feel like it,
enabling me to effectively play as a tank or damage dealer on the fly.
    Absolutely stunning graphics.
Aggroed mobs don't chase you into oblivion. You can actually run a short distance and escape.
Your Home Point can be set very near a particular point of interest.
The fact that anima usage is unforgiving, and how little you actually need to use it. See below:
Each area, (The Black Shroud, Thanalan and La Noscea), can sustain party levels from Lv1 to 40+ from what I've seen.
Job classes have an individual degree of depth, their own guilds and exclusive traits.
Once I became familiar with the game, it became much easier to play.
The fact that Elezen females are actually attractive, unlike those of their XI counterparts.

THIS GAME REQUIRES YOU TO THINK. IF YOU USED YOUR HEAD, IT WOULD STOP BECOMING A TIME-SINK AND START BECOMING A CHALLENGE.

The most fun thing about the game is watching it, the company behind it, and anyone involved... Crash and burn.

It sounded nice in my head. Sorry.

I couldnt even cancel my account without errors. I had to call my credit card company and decline any further billing. Thats so disgustingly sad in 2010. Their Customer Service people were all wide eyed and bushy tailed trying to help me with "Did you click the button!?".

Sadly I think their creative thinking problem was because they litterally werent wide eyed.

Im gonna put something, that maybe nobody has mention:

One of the differences between FFXI/FFXIV against other MMO's that I like the most, it's that you don't have to pay real money for the good armor or equipment, or buy it from the "in-game store", you just need time, dedication to camp a monster, do a quest, and little luck.

I like that FFXIV is similar to how FFXI was when released in Japan and look at how much most people who played FFXI when it was released in the states(almost a year an' a half after the May 16, 2002 Japanese release) enjoyed it. NA PC launch date was October 28, 2003 and NA PS2 launch was March 23, 2004.

Great music & graphics. I am shocked by the server uptime and minimal emergency maintenance. Ul'Dah city has a geat layout. It's quite solo friendly. Anima is a good idea and I'm looking forward to increases to it. Crystals were increased to 9999. There is a solid foundation in many aspects and the potential is there for a wonderful game.

Totally didnt realise your right, server uptime has really been up there and very minimal emergency maintenance. Even their little updates/maintenances have gone smoothly.

For me, this game was a completely random adventure that turned out to be something I actually really enjoy!
Having not even heard about the game until a week before it came out, I came into the game expecting the usual MMO release: Bugs, crashing, general unplayability, etc.

Honestly, I don't get why everyone is so terribly negative about this game... but at the same time, I've also seen these exact same problems (or at least similarly horrid launches) so many times that it just doesn't bother me anymore.

I like how it really seems to bring back that pre-WoW feeling of MMOs. My first game was Dark Age of Camelot, which I started playing right after its release. I personally hate questing repeatedly... I like to just kill ****, make ****, and live off the land.

I love the ability to be completely self-sufficient.

I love having the ability to lead the pack, discovering new things as I go. I started on Karnak on day 1 in Gridania. I've honestly never had such a blast discovering a virtual world like I have in Eorzea. I've also never had such a challenge in an MMO!

Yeah, sure, there's a lot of stuff that needs to be fixed... but given that I already really enjoy the game, that's all just icing on the cake! =)

I'm no FF Fanboy-- I just legitimately enjoy the game, period. Unlike 99% of this forum it seems, I have absolutely no desire to leave. I have faith in SE, and will continue to have faith until they give me a reason not to.

It's a challenging time sink. I try to use my playtime as efficiently as possible. Planning what mobs I'm going to level a DoW/M on so I can use the drops to further a DoH progress kills two birds with one stone. If I have to go to another city, I make sure I have a "to do list" before I go there, so I don't teleport, do one thing, then say "crap, gotta go back". Playing in a manner that uses playtime effectively is a challenge. That said, play time adds up to days... months... years. = time sink.

Oh, say something nice about FFXI, that's right. Well, I like the fact that I have to plan my moves in order to be as productive as I can. I hate running around aimlessly, and I enjoy that challenge.

To add on to this, I also like the fact that if you die during the completion of a leve you can use the crystal at the camp to collect your rewards instead of having to run all the way back to the node that spawns after the last objective. Very handy when running leves as a group on a higher difficulty.

Bah, you keep reminding me of other features Pikko!

Anyways something else I like about that loot list. You can actually distribute items in it to other party members. So if something you want drops into another members loot list, they can add it to yours, or the other way around.

Example: Last night night I was in a LS party in Coerthas. We were killing Hippocerfs and I wanted the sinew for my leatherworker. Sinew would drop into the other members loot lists. Instead of waiting for it to drop into their inventory and then trading it to me, all they had to do was open their loot list, click on Distribute, and then click on my name. Bam, the sinew from their list was transferred into mine. Very nice.

I like that unlike as in XI, I don't have to spend 3 days earning the money to buy a new spell when I level up, and loving having AoE spells.

I accidentally had the camera facing my character while I was mining and was struck by the level of detail in the animation........I also love that whatever cut scene you are in, you are wearing the clothes you have on, rather than one cutscene for all.

Also like that each race has a different sitting animation, though the Lala's look like they're a little crazy the way they rock back and forth.
