Why we need Mail in FFXIVFollow

i will list a few reasons please feel free to add on

1. to contact linkshell leader.. ok i for 1 am sick of ls leaders and sack holders who login once a week when im not on it would be nice to be able to send them an in game mail asking them to make some new sack holders ect out of the few ppl who still actually play.. i can think of 2 linkshells im in i wont name that need to do this.. its like a few active members and we cant invite anyone cause we lack the ability

2. send ourselfs items. believe it or not alot of us have more then 1 character and using retainers to move items is both dangerous if you set at 1gil and or expensive if you set at a lot of gil so no one else will buy.. mailing ourselfs items and gil ala ffxi and EVERY OTHER MMO THAT EXIST. is not only needed.. but is a MANDATORY staple of MMORPG's

please add

Multiple characters seems pretty pointless though, i had 3, and deleted 1. Gonna delete my other shortly b4 my 60days are up. Theres really no point in using 2 characters on the same account, for 1, 1 character can do it all, why pay 3bucks more for another character ur gonna have to skill up?

It was annoying but a good trick to trade items w/ urself is to overprice 1 cheap item real high, have ur other char buy it, that transfers gil, then have them buy items u wanna give urself (even out the prices to equal how much u gave that character) and voila, items on ur other character w/ little scare. the 1 gil method while it works and is fastest also risks someone just buying from u b4 u can log in if ur unlucky.

I still think Mail system needs to exist...then i can craft for someone and mail them the items or somethin.

As much as I would like a mail option, with S/Es huge anti-RMT push I honestly don't see us getting it.

The least they could do is allow us to send msgs to offline and online player and receive a notification like when you get text msgs on your phone you can read whenever you have the chance.
I miss /tells in gameall of the time and if I do notice it it gets burried in the chat log and is such a pain to scroll thru.
Talking to. people while playing is abnormally difficult to do in the game...

I don't have any ideas for alternate ways of transferring your items with other char on your account tho.

Mail is really a gotta do. I know they are trying to limit our ability to communicate with each other in their lackluster attempt to stop RMT, but in a game that absolutely REVOLVES around crafting and repair its essential that we are able to move materials and items to and from our friends and LS mates.

In all reality I actually believe this is on the menu to things to be done, and always was. There is a bit of database work involved with a mail system and I think this is one they will roll out in the coming months once they are sure they don't have any huge holes left in what they have already implemented.

i think using "anti rmt" as an excuse for anything is just plain stupid and no excuse at all
they have to stop every single bot priority one before claiming anti rmt

I too hope SE will implement a mail system as soon as possible. Either that or make teleports free because it's annoying to ask your LS mates for some material or equipment and then have to waste your or their anima to get together to trade.
I mean, we can communicate with people in other parts of Eorzea but there is no mail?
Also RMT is no reason for not implementing a mail system because they can also tell people to go here and there to get their gil or whatever.

On the topic of LS administration they should just let leaders and sac holders manage members even if they are not online or in another area. And for the sake of god give us back the ability to set a /lsmes.

OH GOD YES

it was on the tip of my tounge.. if we cant have mail the least they can do is give us /lsmes it would be nice to know if the leader quit so we can move on or is just out of town or something

i do prefer a mail system, to send mail to offline player instead of camp and wait for the person to get online, or eventually send link pearl via it as well, instead of teleport from city to city just to recruit, or send item to a offline buddy. So in short, mail system is also a vital in a mmo as well

So you are demanding mail? In an MMO? Really? You want actual features? Really?

I guess Square Enix disagrees...

I wouldnt mind a mail system but I think SE is improving the lodestone so lets see what they do.

I think us as players are expecting too much :)

We are expecting too much?

The party in all this that is expecting too much is the one how sold copies of the game for a whopping $75-$50? How are we supposed to communicate with our friends who have divergent schedules from ours?

It's a mail system, literally every other crappy half baked F2P game kid themed game that I have ever seen has had one, why don't we?

And could someone please explain to me how not having a mail system or an auction house is supposed to stop RMT. I understand it will make them work hander in some respects, but they are doing it for a job so they will find a way no matter what road blocks developers come up with. I have never seen a developers anti RMT campaign that really stopped it all together. Perhaps slow it a bit, but they will adapt and be back soon enough.

p.s. to those who may respond with "FFXI didn't have mail or an AH when it came out and it turned out just fine" I say, that was 2002, this is 2010. A lot has changed in 8 years, largely peoples expectations. In 2002 the MMO market was still young and far from mainstream. In this day and age people have certain minimum expectations, thats just the market for games like this.

You can't stop RMT in an MMO.
All this anti-RMT bs S/E is attempting only serves to lessen the enjoyment of the people wanting to actually play and enjoy the game.
They may be slowing down RMTs eventual influence on the game, but they won't stop them.
Aslongas their is money to be made there will be RMTs.
One day S/E will come to terms with this realization.
Hopefully.

So, if you spent years of hard work making something, then I came along and reaped a benefit off your hardwork without asking you which is basically a form of stealing, would you be mad?

If I spent years of hard work and all i had to show for it was ffxiv...I'd be ashamed.

Stop RMT? pfft...who here doesn't know a bot when you see one?
Who here has reported a bot and go back a few days later and that same bot is still there?

Wanna stop bots and rmt's? Hire some freakin GMs that are strictly on "bot patrol".
Hire a few ppl to try to buy online gil...takes names and delete accounts.

pfft...this is what they do to a perfectly good game to quell RMT's?
At what expense?
