First time player of FFXIV here. I installed the game, registered: showing "Account Basic Service" and "Final Fantasy XIV" service, and purchased the 1299 crystal (though it was discounted for my first month). I am also running ver.2.0.0.100

Basically when I enter my login information. I go to press 'Play'(It also says Square Enix Account Management System on that page), the main window is about to open but I get the "Final Fantasy XIV has stopped working" page.

I am running Windows 7 64bit Professional on a 4GB RAM laptop. Plenty of space/power.

Details are:

In Visual Studios after debugging I get:

Unhandled exception at 0x75f6a04c in ffxivgame.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x199a8000.

If anyone could help me, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your time.

P.S. Just for future reference. I found how to Contact Technical Support and I submitted a ticket. But if anyone has experience with this or is able to recognize Hexadecimal code errors, please speak up. I think this maybe related to a memory location problem in my address space, which may require me to uninstall and try again. But I don't want to redownload/reinstall everything if it's a simple error on my part.

What's your CPU and GPU? They might not be powerful enough for the game.

Also, try updating your DirectX and video card drivers to the latest one. This has helped countless people.

Intel GPUs are notorious for not working with games, do you know any one else running it with the same GPU?

I had loads of problems with my laptop playing even simple games with the (at the time, 2 years ago) high end Intel GPU.

I have a feeling the GPU may be the problem. Since I got this laptop, I only use it for schoolwork, League of Legends, and a few flash games. I'm a casual gamer at heart. So I think instead of dropping money on a new GPU I will reopen my Warcraft account and stick with simple graphics.

I'm not too worried about not playing FF14 though I'm a little heartbroken(was hoping to at least try it casually on the weekends for a month). But I hope all the bugs are out by March so I can give it a try on the PS3.

Thanks! I'm off to the Warcraft forums to bug them for a bit :-)

You can't upgrade a laptop GPU anyway.
