SP exploit or working as intendedFollow

I am unsure of the mechanics of this for a player who has to stand toe to toe with a mob to hit, but as an archer I run into the self healing mobs all the time. I don't believe I have seen anything mentioned about it on Lodestone as an issue that is under examination to be corrected. Seems the general consensus of the Zam community is that its a bug. Since I am apparently a really crappy archer I find myself missing A LOT. When I hit the mob a few times it does a TP move or 2 on me maybe walks up and smacks me around a little it will pull back wander around and heal up. Obviously the whole time I am lobbing arrows at it. I have gotten 500 SP on several occasions doing this, and that's without intentionally allowing it to heal (ie: holding back attacks while it regens)

So to the question. Does this constitute an SP exploit or is it working as they intended?

If you're not doing it intentionally, its not an exploit.

I think it's just because u have pulled the mob too far away from its spawn point. But regardless whether it's an exploit or not, if u think about it, yes u gain 500SP per mob, but u also take 2x or 3x the time. If u just kill 2 mobs, u wouldn't only get roughly 2x (if it's 250sp per mob u get 500sp) the sp, u also get 2x the xp as well as loot. Although I sometimes don't like the loot as they don't sell much and take up arrow space. And if i were to dump anything i feel like i am wasting gil.

The reseting of mobs i believe is a bug not just a mechanic of pulling a mob too far from it's spawn point. (you can engage the mob w/o pulling it and it will sometimes run a few feet away and regen.)
But it sucks when you're fighting a tough mob with low man and it keep regening and there is no end in sight, but on the flip side a more than capable party can get huge amounts of SP from these mobs.

its really only exploiting if you're attempting to recreate the conditions that causes that to happen.

I find it annoying when trying to do a levequest. Some mobs are in groups of twos or threes and happen to be right next to another group.

Now if they are aggro mobs, like humanoids, when I try to pull them away to fight, they keep running back to the spawn point and then aggro the other group.

The whole "returning to spawn point" thing means you cant pull mobs, like in FFXI, it also makes AoE skills a nightmare when then keep hanging around other mobs.

But on the flipside, mobs rarely venture outside their own circle, so when things get hairy you can run away a bit and they will leave you alone.

So its a bit of good and a bit of bad.

But it seems like everytime when I use archer to pull the mob from the longest distance possible this would happen. I do it so I can get as many shots in as possible before it starts to hurt me. It does sometimes try to reset but it keep walking back and forth cause the spawn point is still within my shooting distance. I don't quite notice I get more SP, although I do notice it regain about 1/5th of its health, am I use it as an exploit? Wouldn't shooting from as far as possible the proper tactics? I didn't intend to make it reset, but the results overlap...

So if I "accidentally" ran someone over with a car.. is that still not man slaughter? Your logic is invalid... Sorry :( ... if SE deems it is an exploit they will drop a hammer on you regardless if you were intentionally exploiting or not...
Apparently you agreed to their ruling when you clicked on the I agree button when signing up :)

Sorry for calling you out.. but I just find your logic .. quite frankly scary..

How about you post this in the feedback forum? I also wonder why there hasn't been any comment on this by SE. Yesterday I was killing Antelopes near camp tranquil and sometimes the mob would run off THREE times/fight to heal itself, climbing the river bank so that I had to make a detour to start hitting it again - not before it had healed up to 75% though. Exploit or not, more sp or not, I find this extremely annoying and I curse every single time it happens - very often.
