If I remember correctly, it reset at 9PM Tokyo time on Wednesday. DOES NOT matter when did you get the surplus, I had a time when I hit Surplus on Wednesday morning, and late night same day it's gone (after a synth/kill/whatever, it will be gone. It's a bug that it's still shown yellow after reset and it will still say surplus exp blah blah at the very first synth/kill you have).

I think it's just a rolling one week timer. i.e. no set reset, just one week after you started getting Sp basically.

^ is correct, but a few more details

Surplus is based on the class.

Lets say I play Conjurer, Lancer, Weaver, and are sub 50.

Day 1: I go out and kill stuff with conjurer. I hit surplus.
Day 2: I go out and kill stuff with Lancer. I do not hit surplus
Day 3: I go out and kill stuff with Lancer. I hit surplus with Lancer.
Day 4: I weave and do not hit surplus for Weaver.
Day 5: I go out and kill stuff with Conjurer. My surplus resets due to lancing and weaving, but I quickly go back into it.
Day 6: I weave and hit Physical Level Surplus.
Day 7: I take a break.

Now. On day 8, a multitude of things can happen.
1) I kill stuff with conjurer. Upon getting my first SP for conjurer, my surplus will reset for conjurer. In addition, my physical level surplus resets the first EXP I get, no matter which class.
2) I kill stuff with lancer. In this case, my conjurer is STILL IN SURPLUS. Since my lancer resets tomorrow, my lancer is in surplus as well. However, the first physical EXP I get, my Physical rank surplus resets.
3) I weave. Same thing as #2.

Now on day 9, it's pretty much the same thing. However: I got my first SP with lancer exactly 7 days ago. This means that my lancer surplus is able to be reset, even though I didn't hit surplus until Day 3. It goes by when you FIRST got SP/EXP.

So you keep surplus until you hit one monster, and then it all goes away on reset day. Each class is on a separate timer, including physical rank. Also, there is no "Shared timer" between everybody. My Conjury/Physical surplus resets every wednesday, and my lancing surplus resets every thursday. (And if I keep doing archery this week, my archery will reset on sunday)

I got my Surplus from playing Pug roughly 2 hours a day over a 4 day period, maybe 3 hours on 2 of those days. I was geting 500 sp per kill tho so I guess it came on quickly.

Really? Threshold for surplus is 100,000SP / week if I'm not mistaken. Unless you gained 500sp on every single kill, you took zero breaks, your party had zero downtime, and you killed one mob for 500sp every 3 minutes, your math isn't even close.

Not sure if you are lying to us, yourself, or both about your actual playtime.

It can't be 100000k a week, I have went over this and not gone into surplus. Mind you, I have played other things in between which may have been enough to lower my back down a bit.
However, Kimi Pastel the worlds first r50, got their last 5 levels in 5 days. Thats 100k per level, in 5 days. All this misinformation about surplus is ridiculous. A hint; SP does not stop when you hit surplus. It only stops when you hit max surplus, and that's more then anyone has ever gotten so far, even with the first r50 going from r1-r50 in a month never seeing that cap.

To the OP, Meowshi has it right, SE has specifically said that the weekly timer begins for a class the first time you earn SP on that class. It's then rolling after that. SO the time is different for every person and each of that persons classes.

Im sorry it takes your groups of 14-15 players more than 30-45 seconds to kill an eft and if you wanna get 400-500 sp every fight play a pug its easy. I've had fights where I was 500 sp capped after the first 5 punches. In a well oiled large group I would say I average 15k per hour and some times I would say I spike up closer to 20k per hour.

As a healer, one of the best SP gains in the entire game, I've gotten up to 22k SP/hour in a very very optimal party with the best, most perfect settings. (Multiple gladiators, only two healers besides me, 500 on almost every single mob) In worse parties, I usually average around 10k-15k depending on how many healers I am currently bundled with.

It takes me one afternoon to reach surplus, and another afternoon to get to 20% surplus. If you got the 100,000SP / 30,000SP from an earlier post I did, those were example numbers, and shouldn't be taken to heart.

I can usually gain a level and a half, if not more, before I hit surplus (~80,000/90,000SPish?), but I don't have the perfect numbers.

Actually they all reset in Wednesday. There's bug that you have to do anything that gain SP for respective class to have the surplus go away after reset. If you don't believe me you can try hitting Surplus on 2 different classes on 2 different day of the same cycle, and come back after universal reset on Wednesday, they will both be reset. Like I've said, I've had same day surplus reset on Wednesday, hit Surplus in the morning, surplus reset and night and I grind again. People assume things a bit too much, if you read the Lodestone you would also think Leve Reset is 1 1/2 days after you take the leve, but it is universal reset. This is the reason why hardcore people reach r50 relatively fast, almost without delay/rest in between, some guy just do one class only for their whole playing time.

You make it sound like you know a lot and that you're informative.

Except that you're dead wrong. I have multiple jobs that are in surplus constantly. I also have linkshell members that constantly grind with me that reset surplus on different dates. A majority of people are on surplus on wednesday because that's the day the game was released. A wednesday. I'm not assuming, I know from personal experience.

And hardcore people didn't reach R50 relatively fast. They got it within 5 weeks of starting the game.

Alright then, I'm wrong. So it reset weekly based on the first time you gain SP on that class? Like, the very first time you started that class?

Lets say I start on a wednesday, and I play daily

Then yes. It starts the very first time I start that class, because I reset my surplus every wednesday.

If I were to skip a wednesday, then the surplus day will change, as stated in my example. It does not reset until you get SP with that class, so I could change it to any day I want if I do not fight on wednesday with my conjurer.
