I know there will always be immature players no matter what game/server you are on but I wanted to post my experience anyways. Tonight in Ul Dah on Besaid (the "unofficial Role Player" server as voted by players a month before xiv came out and posted on many fan sites) someone was repeatedly complaining about RPers. They said things like "OH WHY DID THE ONE SERVER I CHOOSE HAVE TO BE THE RP SERVER" and "Shouldnt all the RPers be playing Hello Kitty Online like 12 year olds" etc. etc. So I reply that HE'S the one whining like a little baby. He just comments that someone named "Pink Mermaid" is trying to confront him. Like my name means anything. Trolls are immature. Why do they persist in games? I suppose I should have just ignored it but when people are actively calling out a set of gamers who play different than you for no other reason than that it is akin to racism IRL (judging people just because they are different skin color or religion, etc than you) (although I know its not nearly as serious in a game it is still what it is.) He just trolled on and on until I blacklisted him.

I'm not a RPer, and no RPers were replying back to him. I imagine they either blacklisted him or just ignored it, or weren't on (I hardly ever run into RPers anymore). I'm not posting their names because I have no desire to call people out, I just wanted to rant my rant even if it is insignificant.

To the OP, I appreciate that you stuck up for the roleplayers.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

Play WoW for a couple years, you'll never make a "Immature" thread on a FF forum again.

Don't need lore to rp. just act like your race/ clan and your good. Basically be your charavter. Think/ act like the situation is happening as for your character it is. Aka walk around the city, hum a tune while fishing (in emotes). Live out your characters live. Basically. WoW got rp no one follows the lore, and blizz changes it every 6 mnths. Just as long as it fits the games basic theme. like not having twili vamps in ffxiv.
I do hate rp troll even WoW got them on game made rp servers. RP s a dieing art as ppl get insulted by doing it. Though it is pretty lame calling out rp'ers to be kids or nerds when playing mmo or games was for nerds only. Plus everyone rps in an mmorpg., just the absolute basics of playing your character and class role.

RP trolls are everywhere, they can't seem to let people alone to do thier thing.
wow has the worst, but then again wow also have some pretty shady RP too lol.

only games I've come across that have been great about it are EQ2, (RP servers there had the most awsome people ever).

and eve online, the thing about eve online is if you run into an RPer, they are most likely RPing a pirate, and the lasting thing you're worried about is trolling and RPer when he has your ship shut down and some pretty big guns pointed at it.

To many people RP is very strange, nothing against it but thats how it comes across to people without the imagination or personality to enjoy losing themselves in that kind of play. It was very sad on FFXI that RP was killed off within the first year or two because Square didnt help the RP players by making a dedicated RP server.

Problem with the servers are that there is no indication which server is a RP one and for people that just play and converse as they do irl that can't get into the whole RP thing there are going to be these problems.

He should just blist RPers like you eventually blisted him. Basically he just wanted to start **** and be a troll like ya said. Forced censorship sucks, but we can always censor our chatlogs by blisting & filters.

No, I doubt that's the case.. It's a great opportunity to RP out a situation and learn about the story of a guy who fell off the wagon to the insane asylum and is spewing non-sense and needs some help to find his way back to the "short chocobo wagon". It's a shame I wasn't there, coulda been a lot of fun.

No worries, the RPers can take care of themselves.. Thx for the concern though ^^.

Yeah, I've also had to blist a few Besaid trolls. Actually, one of them turned my surname around to "Appledork" - hahaha so clever. >.>

I just love how people do absolutely no research before making a decision then cry foul when they run into something they don't like. It isn't like the RPC hasn't made it abundantly clear where they are.

you should be glad you even had an interaction with a player regardless of the type of contact. most players don't even move or respond at all due to language, afk and botting. soon the servers will be barren and empty. enjoy the company of players while you can!

I'll admit I have a bit of a prejudice, when I think of RP'rs This is what pops into my head.

But it's a serious **** move to make fun of people that are online and just trying to have fun. Everyone has a right to enjoy the game however they please.

I'm no RP'er but honestly I wish I was on Besaid!!!

This is a game and is intended for us to play it and enjoy it, why make fun of people or a person who really gets into it?

My fiancée thinks I'm silly for playing a game of this sort so I sat her down and educated her about why I find this so much fun, and great entertainment. Being an Rp'er in an RPG is not a stretch of thought . . . . or so one would think. In my head and in front of my friends i would play out in game scenario's, why? Because its how I enjoy the game if I'm not playing.

I say power to you RP'ers and don't feel shameful for being fun and creative, I say embrace it, because many people in general have forgotten what fun really is!

While I feel your pain bud, you are infact the sole reason why these trolls exist in the first place. This particular troll in question has got a rise out of you and has therefore succeeded in his quest to be a douche.

^. Everything is relative. FF community is exponentially more mature than most other MMO communities. There are f&%$tards everywhere unfortunately.

I'm very supportive of RP'ers, more power to you: it's your game, play it how you see fit. That being said....when you first create your toon, "Besaid" is the first / top choice on the list of servers. For someone who doesn't care what server they are on, or someone who is hacking "enter" through the character creation process, by default those people end up on your server.

****, I ended upon Bodhum because it's the 2nd server choice on the list of servers and I intentionally avoided Besaid b/c (1) it's a RP server; and (2) it's first on the list so it's likely to be overcrowded. Quite frankly, I've always been a fan of "official" servers; I never saw a problem segregation (j/k?)

I'm no RPer but I enjoy being around people who RP. It kinda makes my playing better, I get immersed into the game world more. The only reason I don't RP is my attention span is short for RPing (thinking, speaking, typing in RP - or maybe I could RP a mute person? :D ). Anyhow, I prefer hardcore and mild/semi RP people to players who only see stats, numbers and figures.

I can understand the frustration of finding yourself on an RP server that wasn't announced as so. I don't RP, and I don't like having to jump through hoops to communicate. Most I've dealt with in the past will break character in tells when I ask them to, but others are pretty stubbern about it, which they're more than welcome to.

However, nobody should flame, troll, or harass people, that guys lame.

WoW made specific servers for rp and ppl still go to them and troll. Moon guard is known for its erp. (which really is no dif then cyber "doing it" )

And even trolls intentionally log on there a ruin rp experience. I even ran into trolls who rp to ruin rp. They try to be loud and call attention. It gets annoying. And gm on wow don't do anything. But good job sticking up to the dude report him for harassment while you b/list

I haven't seen any non specific RP server in wow yet, but my old one Kirin Tor, I think they tried to ignore the fact that they were an RP server and would make fun of the RP'ers, some of the RP behavior was odd to my standards having seen it on EQ2, but they are entitled to thier fun, **** I actually enjoy it if I find some of the rare non scripted RP.

I really wouldn't play wow for RP though, other games have a much better community for it.

Unfortunatly there will always be immature player in any game, i sometimes just argue with them and annoy alot of ppl if its in shouts, makes for a funny situation however i will usually just blist em, and they will eventually not get anything done after the whole server has blisted em.

I have done a bit of RPin in games and its kinda fun, no RPers on mysidia though so it gets kinda boring trying to do it on your own (ok that sounded wrong)

I know some people will say that arguing with immature players is just as immmature, but i only do it when i'm bored for a bit of fun.

I'm pretty sure you don't have any clue what racism actually is. If you do dumb stuff and I make fun of you that's not racism. If your skin is black and I call you "darkie" or some other stupid crap without you provoking it with an action, that is racism. You CAN help being an RPer. You CAN'T help being a color or being born somewhere. I don't know when people decided they could just do whatever absurd nasty thing they wanted and then got it into their minds that they have some kind of right to do it with no-one bothering them, but that is freaking retarded.

To me, this particular post is just immature QQ from being trolled hardcore.

Only took me 2 months. Decent game in my opinion. Far too many childish quarrels, rants, flames, etc...
