i feel the game has tons of potential and SE takes there good ol time with fixing stuff. (like so meny bugs in xi even when it launched in us)

If XI's any indication, as long as you don't delete anything, just not pay, then it should be indefinite. I was able to pick back up with my character after a year in XI.

Common sense should tell you that they will not delete your... character. Almost said the dreaded T word.

Would it make sense that a company that managed to lose nearly half of their playerbase just over a month after launch (while the game is still free) flush your data (and possibly some of your reason for returning) down the toilet?

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

"Potential" is a very broad term.. every game has potential.. APB had potential.. Age of Conan had potential... Vanguard had Potential.. **** every person on earth has potential minds to be a doctor.. yet how many of these potentials actually pull through? I would rant cept.. This thread is as generic a praise as any generic praise thread can be.. SO I'll reserve my rant for a more worthy thread..

Oh yeah quick note it's 2010.. people want to see results not potential.. Square Enix wants money not potential for money.. see where I am going with this..

I obviously haven't checked the Rules of Usage for FFXIV in their entirety (did anybody read that wall of text? does anybody EVER read that wall of text?) but I've never had any MMO game in the last eight years that I've been playing to delete any character from an unsubscribed account. They want you to come back. They want to give you every reason to come back and nobody wants to have to start again from the beginning. Your character(s) just go into deep freeze. Brrrr.

You're probably safe, but I certainly recommend doing a [find] command on the Wall of Text/Rules of Usage to see what they say about character permanency, just to be absolutely sure.
