for JP players EU players and US player, the US servers would have like 100-200 players on at any given time, max.

I personally wouldn't enjoy the game as much, part of what made FFXI so great for me was acomplishing things with people who spoke multiple languages. IMO it adds to the experience....

Plus I'd be screwed, I'm an American but randomly live in Europe or the Middle East... I'd either be forced to play on a server that was attached to my ISPs location or I'd end up on one where I was often playing at non-peak hours all the time.

This would only be the case if they split each of the current servers into a en, eu, and jp (meaning currentNumOfServers*3) instead of partitioning them (meaning currentNumOfServers/3).
