Can I still get a trial account for this game?Follow

I'm pretty leary of a this game, I'm interested, but not 45 dollars interested in a game I MIGHT like. I realize the trial account time is over, but I wasn't waiting with baited breath for this game to come out, so I missed it. If I can try it out for a couple of days I will. If not, I'll wait until Tera comes out.

So, is there any way to get a trial like MOST of the games out there offer? (Eve gave me 14 days, and I'm still playing that)

So far this game reminds me of SWG in the early days. "You are privileged that we let you pay us to play our game! If you do not like it, be gone!" and I left.

Protomas, maybe a cat girl.

PS I hear there are a tone of bugs, and the character design is sort of creepy

There is no "trial" for this game. There never has been outside of open beta. And MOST games don't start handing out trials until 6 months to a year (or longer) after release.

The only thing close to it would be the "buddy passes" that came with Collector Editions. But those are not trials, they are actual retail keys that would give you the full game with 30 days. And the chance of someone here giving a random stranger a full retail key instead of their friends/family/keeping it for themselves are slim to none.

Wait, those are full retail keys? o_o So just use your game disks to install the software and register the buddy pass and that's it?

yup, the buddy passes were full keys not trial keys.
Basically the CEs came with 2 full registration keys while the SE came with 1.

Like mentioned above,
Trial aren't typically given for mmos until atleast 6 months to 1 year after the game has been out.
Gives the game to establish itself and the devs time to work out whatever need to be worked on before giving away free trials in hopes of catching a larger base.

Hmmm... Now I have to decide if someone would actually welcome a buddy pass as a present or not.

Dont tell them its a buddy pass. Print the code out on a piece of sticky paper, place it over the original serial key on the booklet, put everything back into the game case and shrink wrap it. Just like a brand spanking new standard edition. lmao

Just keep the CE stuff for yourself tho. ;)

lol That's pretty clever. Actually I'm just not sure they'd accept with the current state of the game. That or they'd think I was trying to ruin their life by getting them addicted to more FF crack.

OK, I think I misunderstood this link

http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/31011/FFXIV_Free_Trial_Period_Extended_Due_To_Games_Current_State.php

apparently, they were calling the first 30 days of play that you get with buying the game a "free trial" and you only get it by buying the game.

Frankly I think I'll wait until they do offer a actual free trial I have more than enough to do with Lotro and DDO which are both free to play, and my Eve and City of Heroes accounts. Hopefully by the time they have actual free trials, they will have some of the bugs out.

I'm mostly interested in the game because I'm one of those people that reacts badly to the hyper realistic human characters that were in FF XI which I played for about 5 weeks and got creeped out by, and I was hoping to get over my phobia, but its just not worth it to try a bit of self therapy on a buggy and incomplete game.

I really like Cat Girls though and the game is actually lovely to look at, so I'll keep looking for that free trial in a year or so.

Thanks for setting me straight by the way. I spent HOURS trying to find a download for the non-existant free trial :P

Hope it plays well for you
later daze
Protomas (possible future cat girl, in a year or so)
