See title. I've tried messing with my resolution and reinstalling. Has anybody found some setting or tweak that seems to help at all?

Windows 7 64 Bit
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition running at 3.4 GHz
ATI Radeon 5770
8 GB Corsair memory

I know i had to manually install DirectX 9.0c. If you haven't gone to the microsoft website to download the entire directx package, you should try that. Especially, if your PC is new, or you just installed win7.

If that doesn't help you. make sure you are running in administrator. Your PC will play this game .

I always run as administrator, but I'll download DX 9. Thanks!

Also get the newest updates on drivers for your card, plus the run as administrator, directX 9.0c.

Mine is too. Just started today. I have had the game since it's release and have not experienced this problem until now. My guess is it's the client server and not my laptop. This is a brand new laptop and everything is updated so I highly doubt it's a hardware/driver issue. Again, no problems with the game up until today. Honestly, I'm about to go postal on this game anyway, so the last thing I needed was this. I truly hope they make this game fun to play soon. It's more of a chore at the moment.

If it was the client, it would be happening to everyone and the forums will be flooding with it by now. It could be multiple factors to make a program crash. You should still get all the new drivers, even with a new laptop, that doesnt mean is up to date. Also could be over heating from the graphic card, or wrong configuration of the card enviroment. If you are using windows 7 with direct 11, you still need to have directx 9, both are different.

If it started crashing just today, most likely it was a recent update or change in your computer causing it, or some missing update. Go to your graphic card website and get the newest drivers(even if you think you have them), and make a clean install.

Doesn't mean squat since the game is only designed for DX9. And just because you have WIndows 7 doesn't mean you're using DX11, unless you actually have a DX11 graphic card and are playing a game specifically designed to use DX11 (like LotRO, for instance).

My server was crashing every time i had a program in the background trying to to an auto update (Adobe was a classic killer). Since I stopped all auto updating, also the reminder, i have only a very few crashes a day.

My client has been crashing recently as well. Up until the past day or 2 I had experienced only a couple crashes. But over the span of a couple days I've had FFXIV crash to desktop twice, and freeze the PC once. I've had 2 server disconnects recently as well.

I know a couple players in my LS had crashes and strange latency issues yesterday. Could it be possible that this is what happens when the servers don't get rebooted, since they skipped maintenance last Thursday?

It's the latest patch and the lack of patches. Apparently if you installed the client fresh from the cd after the last patch, you'll be missing tons of patches. To be more specific, it apparently skips every patch between 9/19/2010 and 10/26/2010. It only downloads the 9/19/2010 and 10/26/2010 patch which is smaller than 500 mb. I remember downloading 6 gigs worth of patches when I first installed back on 1st day of pre-release. I had to reinstall the game today and that's the problem I'm getting. I ran the game perfectly fine 2 days ago before reinstalling. Now, my graphics are all messed up even with everything turned up to the maximum in configuration. My hardware mouse is also not working properly. I know about a dozen others who had this happen to them also after reinstalling recently.
