Bots in Cassiopeia HollowsFollow

I have been leveling in the Hollows Near Bloodshore for the last week or so. I heared that Giant Bats are hanging around somewhere in there so I started searching every little nook to see if I could find them. If you have ever been to the Hollows, you will notice lots of little "Bulbs" sticking out from the main caverns. Last night, in any of the caverns that spawned "flies", there seemed to always be bots in there. I did notify admins with the location and names, but not sure if it helped much.

Have any of you had similar issues?

Not exactly in Cassiopeia Hollows, but I have seen them in the caves near Camp Bloodshore.

Pretty sure they are using other hacks in addition to botting programs (they are running above normal speed, and repeatedly ran up steps/slopes that normally you had to get around).

Filed a report to the STF, hopefully they won't be there the next time I go there.

This is not a hack, it's lag. you just perceive them to be running faster because you can see the char catching to to where they are actually located, when this happens, thier char can actually seem to be in the wrong place. I've seen my friends char run up the side of a cave and disappear into the ceiling, when he saw nothing of the sort on his screen, I know because we were physically in the same room when it happened.

There are also the hermes shoes that could explain what you saw.

In my server Melmond i've also noticed quite a few botters and gil farmers, especially in caves and dungeons that have mobs spawning in a tight area.

These bots have many tell-tale signs: Relatively high ranked (compared to the mobs) non-linkshelled Conjurers in hempen cowls and minimal equipment with wierd names that stands at exactly the same spot and never moves, and they cast spells in obvious patterns that gives away their botted-ness. For example, they'd cast Cure and Sacrifice while not even fighting, healing themselves 0hp twice, followed by Tranquility; or casting buffs in the middle of a fight with a mob that takes 3 darts to kill.

I hope SE moves quickly to address this issue with the botters, but I guess right now it is not very high in their priority.

Definitely not Hermes Shoes (I have a pair so I know how it looks like).
I checked this guy up on lodestone, no DoL or Archer leveled either.

I have been watching this guy for more than 30mins running at the same fast speed around the cave, without toggling any abilities whatsoever, so unless there is some serious problem with my PC, I don't think this is lag.

Let's not turn this into another speed hack discussion.

Most of the caves have 'bots' in them due to the high density of mobs. I'm one of them.

I play in windowed mode now and am usually watching hulu or an anime while I sit there spamming my awesome dart-dart-dart-cure macro at a room poor furry critters.

What may look like a bot/hack is most likely just a result of lag or inattentive player.

It's pretty easy to spot a bot if you know what to look for....

1. They will not move....
2. They will spam the tab button looking for a target (Including other players)
3. There name is usually something like fjjeod dwaoea
4. If you start killing the mobs in their room, they won't leave
5. If you speak to them, they'll ignore you

The 2 bots I found are a little different (because they are melee), but both of them uses identical patterns even though they are in different caves:

1. Run around the caves in a fixed pattern/path when there are no mobs. I noticed that they do not have problem running up/down short cliffs (which are not possible to normally, I tried) along the path.
2. If they detect something close to their path they will run towards it, doesn't matter if it is a mob or a player. While I was in the same room as them they repeatedly run towards me, I guess their program could not differentiate between a mob or a player yet.
3. Resume their routine of running around the cave.

Even if a mob pops up next to them, they will not turn around to engage it, but instead going through their cycle 1 time before they engage.
If you engage a mob they locked on to, they will not move until the mob disappeared (after it is killed), even if several mobs has already spawned in the same cave.

I was at Bloodshore today and noticed 1 of them gone, but the other is still there doing the same thing.

This ^ This game can be boring as ****, I play windowed as well and sometimes am watching TV while I spam dart etc. I do the same while crafing too, standard...standard...standard. BORING I think you have your curlers bound too tight and are thinking too much about this. Who in their right mind would buy gil for this game anyway?

You'd have to be quite an idiot to mistake a bot for a semi-afk player. If you'd bother checking these areas yourself, you'd know what I mean.
