Right now Wutai is at 744.

Honestly i played ffxi since before NA release and never saw a server drop under 1000 unless there was maintenance. in actuality, servers usually went to 800 people -right- after a maintenence (or at least on kujata/valefor).

So i just want to know if all the other server get as low at non-peak times, or if its just wutai.

Also do you think servers will start having lower online-populations, with the charging of fees and then in december with the WoW expansion?

the sad part is only like 100-200 of the 700 online wutai are probably actually playing, the rest are afk bazaaring at adv guilds.

I think by christmas populations will drop to 500 or 600. i hope im wrong.

I thonk SE was hopping that PS3 game will open the way. Don't forget that the computer for this game have to be a war machine. If that don't work, they will do something. Me in Rabanastre, it's like 800-900.

Fun fact:PS3 alpha isn't even ready for testing phase yet due to hardware restrictions.

Makes me smile.

Im curious to see how the ps3 handles the game. I am not very knowledgeable on console innards, so it might handle the game fine.

Hopefully they do a better job than they have in the past, the Xbox version of FFXI was horrific.

On a weekday night, I think Cornelia averages between 800-1000. Normally when I'm looking for an XP group at night, I see a number between that range.

The JP population on Cornelia seems significantly larger though. When I check in the morning right before work, I normally see around 2k.

Who knows how many of these counts are AFK bazaars though :D

I hope that (if this keeps up) that SE merges worlds. Or allows for a free transfer, or heck even a paid transfer.

On Karnak the lowest I've seen is around 700-800. The highest has been about 1000-1100 so far that I've personally checked. Who knows how small or big it gets when I'm not on.

Figaro is currently at 732. That's definitely the lowest I've seen.

They wont merge till they see how ps3 goes, servers are going to drop to ghost town player levels after free trial ends. Will just have to put up with it till middle of next year.

weird I thought the 360 version of FFXI was pretty decent. Ran better at a higher res and further draw distance than ps2, Nice "upgrade" for a console player. While not the performance that my PC got, it's always nice to kick back in the living room.

Crap on SE all you want, you gotta give credit where credit is due. SE is the only company that hasn't scrapped their plans to release a MMO on console, or otherwise not willing to do it.

As far as consoles are concern SE did an amazing job within the confines of "PS2 limitations" I'm not too concerned with the scope of the game being held back due to ps3 limitations.

I don't expect the populations to really go anywhere but down until ps3 release. Japan is significantly heavier into consoles and arcades over pc gaming. If they can get their PC version up to standard, get good news about it out to the public, I think most people will give it a try on the PS3. Hopefully from there the game can take off appropriately, which I think is SE's plan right now.

I also have a feeling there might be a good amount of people who are waiting for PS3 release as well. Who otherwise weren't willing to buy or upgrade to meet PC reqs. I mean $150-1500+ dollars (depending on what upgrades needed) vs. $299 for a ps3. I was in that boat til I got invite to alpha and I bought a new PC after my old p4 was chugging along with the client.

I think what you see now is going to be about the server population til march. Just my speculation but, those peeps who are not enjoying their time aren't logging anyways but their are plenty of people waiting for the nov/dec updates to even give it another chance, who aren't logging in as well.

my projections for XIV population 600-800 pops til nov/dec updates land pops spike to ~1200 then back down to ~800 after Dec then big spike in march with PS3 launch and new update that coincides with it.

I think mostly a lot of ppl are just laying back a bit and waiting for the ps3 version, i my self actually only log on once a week cause the moment has pass, the game has nothing to offer in anything entertaining, and ffxi is kicking *** and taking names over it new counterpart. personally after the next ffxi patch i find it very hard if ffxiv will be able to keep up. i been playing ffxi for 8yrs, and have never stop, since day 1, i played ffxiv for a few months, and now put it in the pile of "game of shame" where all games could'nt live up to there own hype and collect dust. just so sad....

PlayStation 3 is basically a specialized Linux box.

Lowest on Istory I saw so far was around 700~ +-50
That's usually around US Prime, during EU Prime its a bit higher(900-1000), while it reaches its peak during JP Prime with around 1.300-1.600 players.

I think many players will start with the PS3 Version and the population will increase drastically.

i would like to see how lag issues will fair in the ps3 version, with all the heavy traffic, graphic and interface, im more worried on how much this game will take it toll on the ps3. last thing i want to hear is ffxiv broke my ps3 thread, with over heating or other wise, so i hope they really give it a good run threw before even considering launch, i hope the ps3 beta is more thorough cause unlike the pc you just cant swamp out parts and replaces, if it happen to do any thing to the system that will jeopardize its integrity it will be the final end fall for square enix, ****** off ps3 owners, and broke wallets for those who have no warranties on there system. im not even going to consider playing it on ps3 until im fully sure of all the reviews are cleared, stability is fully functional and no worries about harm to my ps3 system.
