I simply use ShiftWindow. Simply run FFXIV Windowed at your monitors native resolution (achievable by the native FFXIV config setting) and once the game window is open, simply open ShiftWindow, target the "Final Fantasy XIV" window, trigger it and the program will simply remove the border from the windowed app and fit it to the monitors screen space. Doesn't modify anything, simply refits the window to the monitor.

Google "ShiftWindow" for the program. Works with any game and/or application that runs windowed.

Try using Steam. It provides an overlay with a built in browser.

There are also some Autohotkey scripts that will reposition a window for you. It's the same idea as Ryneguy posted with the the ShiftWindow program. I'm more familiar and comfortable with Autohotkey so that's what I use.

Is the Steam fix a true Full Screen version or just a task bar and border hider like the rest of the solutions? Also, have they ever said why they don't make the native FS Alt-Tab-able? I'm not following how it could be a security concern when they already have an official Windowed mode.

Steam has a built in overlay that works for almost every game. Just shift-tab while in-game and the Steam overlay gets pulled up.

Looks like this:

the steam overlay works...but i seem to crash quite a bit when using it..as opposed to virtually zero crashing when using the windower.

The Steam fix isn't really a alt-tab fix, rather you can use there overlay to open up the Steam Web browser in game.

This is what I'm using right now. It's very easy to use, I'm quite pleased with it.

Isnt it against Microsoft policy to run a windows program with out being able to alt tab out of it or similiar functions? I remember way back with EQ1 you used to not be able to do anything windows related while EQ was running and Microsoft put a stop to that and made them fix it, at least thats what I remember the situation to be (it was long ago).

I currently play with it in windowed version(roughly half screen), it was the default setting that came up for me when I installed FFXIV. I tried switching the FFXIV config to play in full screen, but found that being able to alt+tab and go to other windows was more important to me then playing in full screen.
