Hear me out.

It has come to my attention that a Free to Play game, in my opinion, has more fun factor than FFXIV.

How so you may ask.

Well in League of Legends ( http://www.leagueoflegends.com ), there is dynamic group play.
There is leveling.
There are "Talent Trees" (masteries).
There are customizable builds(runes) and even Item builds!
There are unique classes that play different from one another; as in ranged, melee, magic, physical, buffer, healer, tank, fighter, assassin, etc.
THERE IS REASON TO PLAY AS A GROUP - AS A TEAM!

How is it a free to play action game has more depth and customization of character than an MMO?

I am saddened by the fact I would rather play this silly game than what should have been my 30+ hours a week MMO.

Agree? Disagree? Flame me?

Dude, OMG, you know what?? Playing Minesweeper is more fun for me than League of Legends. How is it that a free to play game that comes with my computer is more fun than a free to play game based on DOTA?!?

Well **** the ZAM community is confusing.

I get bashed for trying to defend XIV and find ways to play around the faults, then get bashed for trying to talk about having fun.

You guys are just a bunch of fun-hating turds here it seems.

I just don't see the point of your post other than to **** people off. It's called trolling and it's not welcome on these forums. Your comparison is like comparing apples and oranges and laughing that oranges taste better than apples when really it's just your opinion. Not everyone likes DoTA type games. My husband plays HoN and despite me really liking playing games with him, I just could never, ever get the appeal of that game. I tried it a couple times and I didn't like it, even though I did like the original ghetto Tower D.

You're not really supposed to talk about other games in the FFXIV general forums.

I'm not trying to **** anyone off, just getting some discussion going.

It seems to me though I best stay away from MMO's from here on. Anytime you say something good, people get crappy, say something bad? Same thing.

Well written guides/reviews/pleas for help all get TLDR, short stupid comments get love.

I guess the general community of MMO players has changed drastically form the "Good Ole Days" and I am just not welcome into this new generation of smack talk and whining.

Farewell fellow gamers, I have been ousted as someone who plays for fun, not for popularity.

My days of Online gaming must be over for I do not see it fit to spend all day every day hoping to make friends with anonymous internet people through mob-mentality bashing.

^_^

Peace, Love, and Chicken Grease!

Keep doing what you do, hopefully one day the community as a whole can mature a little and not froth at the mouth over every little thing.

Perhaps one day we can actually have discussions without complete douche-baggery!

The original intention was to hopefully spark a debate as to how to make group play FUN in FFXIV.

Silly me, I forgot to write a numbered list of points to respond to.

I did not make a quiz for people to answer, instead I had hoped for actual conversation that way I was used to chatting with people.

Anywho, it has been fun, mods will lock this post, I will disappear into the oblivion of internet nothingness.

Sorry for bothering you all during your quest for forum popularity.

I now return you to your previous posting, already in progress!

This is the absolute wrong forum to discuss a game that isn't FFXIV. There is a section called Cross-Site Forum that has a General Game section. That's where you can compare your apples and oranges. Posting in the wrong spot to "get a discussion going" and expecting people not to be ****** is being an ***.

Don't try that, don't even go there, and don't even consider it. This forum is for FFXIV, and FFXIV only, lemmings like you who flock to the next best thing are not welcomed here.

I probably would have liked the game 20 years ago. Graphics are just too dated for me. Glad to hear you've found something fun to play, though.

Maybe, but it's very selectively enforced. I'm not trying to bash the admins because personally I'm loving the "new" Pikko, but there's another thread on here that existed just to bash WoW, and despite it having nothing to do with XIV it was left alone.

To the OP: Fun is subjective. I'm sorry you aren't enjoying XIV. Truthfully, I'm not at the moment either, but let's at least reserve judgment until the 25th when the first actual patch of substance is scheduled.

If I may be serious a minute, let's compare FFXIV to LoL in the areas that matter to the people who play FFXIV:

You can pick from a list of characters, but you can't actually create one that looks the way you want, nor can you name them. Soraka is always Soraka, Master Yi is always Master Yi, Ashe is always Ashe, etc.

You aren't playing an RPG in a persistent world with a persistent character, you're playing an RTS tower game that is recreated fresh every time.

The "leveling" is only temporary. You get masteries from your overall level, but in each new game, you still start out as level 1 with one skill and have to work your way up to 18 (or whenever the game ends) all over again.

Some people don't like PvP. (Surprising, right?)

Some people don't like the art style of LoL.

The items you buy in LoL aren't really tangible items, but just theoretical items that only serve to give you stats. If Ashe buys a sword or an axe, she isn't suddenly going to be able to start slicing people up; she's still using a bow.

I played LoL for a while. It was kinda fun, but I got bored with it. If you still like it then that's cool. I love Minecraft, personally.

I also wouldn't really consider LoL to be an MMOG any more than Diablo 2 is. It's an online game that you can play with other people, but to me, an MMOG is a persistent world that has hundreds to thousands of active players online sharing the same virtual space at any given time, not a whole bunch of people online playing individual games together. I know you differentiate LoL from an MMO in your OP, but I'm just pointing out here that you're comparing apples to oranges.

I could argue that Dragon Age or Fallout or even older games like Arcanum or Gothic have depth and customization as well, and I would recommend any one of them to you as well. However, if what you're looking for is an MMORPG, none of them will fit the bill.

Fact is, you've come to an FFXIV board and you're trying to talk about how much fun you're having playing something else. I'm not saying you aren't, nor am I saying that your opinion is necessarily invalid; just that you've picked the wrong forum to voice your opinion (I mean forum figuratively, not in the literal internet sense, although it applies to both).

I mean, ****, you might as well go to a Star Wars forum and post a thread saying how you thought that Lord of the Rings was a way better movie. Maybe you did, and maybe it is and maybe it isn't, but few people there are going to care.

I mean, really, what was the expected outcome of the OP? That a bunch of us were going to say "Holy ****, you're right! FFXIV is terrible! Let's all go kill each other over and over in a DotA clone!"

Sure, you might reach half a dozen people, but most of the forum really isn't going to care about the message.
